Calming Health Anxiety — A Guided Meditation for Peace of Mind Apr 04, 2026
Show notes If the persistent worry, the checking, the Googling, the convincing yourself something is seriously wrong sounds familiar — this episode is for you. Health anxiety is exhausting, not because you are weak, but because your mind is working overtime trying to keep you safe. Today we slow that down.
We quiet the noise. We come back to the only truth that matters right now. You are here. You are breathing. And you are safe. In this 10-minute guided meditation for health anxiety relief, clinical hypnotherapist and former frontline paramedic Martin Hewlett helps you break the health anxiety loop using vagus nerve breathing, clinical visualisation, and powerful affirmations for peace of mind.
As a former paramedic, Martin understands — better than most — the very real difference between a medical crisis and what health anxiety tells you is a medical crisis. They feel identical. But they are not.

    ✨ TODAY'S AFFIRMATIONS
My body is not my enemy — it is doing its best to protect me.
I am not my symptoms. I am not my search history.
Health anxiety is a feeling, not a diagnosis.
I release the need to check. I choose trust over fear.
I am safe in this moment. I am present. I am calm.
    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
💛 THREE DAILY CARING TIPS FOR HEALTH ANXIETY
    1. Postpone the search. When the urge to Google a symptom arrives, tell yourself — not now, perhaps later. Most of the time, later never comes. Your nervous system will thank you for the space.
    2. Name it to tame it. When health anxiety spikes, say quietly to yourself: "This is health anxiety, not a medical emergency." This activates your prefrontal cortex and begins to reduce the alarm response.
    3. Do a body gratitude scan. Instead of scanning your body for problems, spend 60 seconds noticing what is working — your heart beating steadily, your lungs moving. Gratitude and anxiety cannot fully occupy the same space.

Midday Decision Fatigue The Vagus Nerve Reset for Burnout Prevention (Part 2 of 3) Apr 02, 2026
Show notes Is it only 1:00 PM and your brain already feels like a browser with thirty-seven tabs open? You aren't lazy; you are experiencing decision fatigue—a physical state of nervous system exhaustion.

    • Somatic Tracking: A guided exercise to name and tame physical sensations, effectively calming the amygdala and reducing brain fog.
    • Burnout Prevention Visualization: A mental rehearsal using "Protective Light" to help you navigate negative comments and doubt without absorbing the stress.
    • 3 Daily Caring Tips: High-impact habits to boost your mental clarity and physical calm.

    2. The Peripheral Vision Reset: Look away from your screen and soften your gaze until you can see the edges of the room. This physically triggers your parasympathetic nervous system.
    3. The Power of the Pause: Before saying 'yes' to one more task, take three physiological sighs. Give your brain the oxygen it needs to decide from a place of power, not panic.

How to Stop a Panic Attack Prevention & Calm Before the Storm Mar 31, 2026
Show notes How to Stop a Panic Attack | Prevention & Calm Before the Storm
You know that feeling. Something shifts. Your heart taps a little louder. Your breathing shortens. A thought arrives — what if this is it? What if this is the one I can't stop? That moment — right there — is where this session begins.
This free 12-minute panic attack prevention meditation helps you interrupt the spiral before it builds, lower your anxiety alarm threshold, and calm your nervous system before a panic attack arrives.
Guided by Martin Hewlett, clinical hypnotherapist and former paramedic, this is daily panic attack relief for anyone living with anxiety, health anxiety, or the exhausting fear of the next one.You came here before the storm. That is wisdom.
    ⏱ Episode Chapters
00:00 — The Early Warning: Recognising the space before the panic attack
    00:24 — Meet Martin: A paramedic and hypnotherapist's perspective
00:54 — If You Live With Health Anxiety: Why every sensation feels like a threat
02:07 — Reading the Signals: Your nervous system is preparing, not breaking
    03:53 — The Physiological Sigh: Your body's own off-switch
05:53 — Lowering the Baseline: Why panic attacks don't come from nowhere
07:24 — Panic Attack Prevention: Quietly, daily, turning the dial down
07:58 — Guided Affirmations: Rewiring your nervous system for safety
09:23 — Three Daily Caring Tips for Panic Attack Prevention
10:51 — Grounding Back into the Room
    11:03 — A Final Word of Courage
    💬 Guided Affirmations
During this session, Martin guides you to receive these words gently — not to force them, just to let them arrive like light under a door. Repeat them internally and allow them to find the parts of you that need them most.
    • "My body's signals are not my enemy. They are information."
    • "I have felt this before. I have come through it before."
    • "I do not need to fear the feeling. The feeling will pass."
    • "My nervous system is learning to feel safe. Every breath helps."
    • "I am not in danger. I am in recovery. And recovery is working."
🌿 Three Daily Caring Tips for Panic Attack Prevention
    1. Name It to Tame It When you notice the early warning signs of a panic attack — elevated heart rate, shallow breath, chest tightness — say quietly to yourself: "This is adrenaline. My body is preparing, not breaking." Naming the sensation accurately reduces the fear response immediately. This is one of the most clinically validated tools in anxiety management, and it costs nothing.
    2. 2. The Daily Temperature Check Once a day, just once, ask yourself: "On a scale of one to ten, how activated is my nervous system right now?" Not to fix it — just to notice it. Health anxiety thrives in the unexamined. The moment you observe it, you reduce its power.
    3. 3. Reduce the Scan If health anxiety is part of your daily experience, you may be unconsciously checking your body dozens of times a day — monitoring your heart, listening for symptoms, checking your breathing. Every check sends a signal to your brain that there is something worth checking for. Today, just once, when you notice yourself scanning — pause, take the physiological sigh, and redirect. You are retraining the pattern, one moment at a time.
    4. 💙 A Note from MartinYou came here today before the storm. You didn't wait for the panic attack to take hold — you chose to work with your nervous system before it could spiral. That is not a small thing. That is wisdom. If this session helped you find that narrow window — the space where everything can change — please share it with someone who needs it.
    5. Every share puts this into the hands of someone sitting exactly where you were when you pressed play. It matters more than you know.

    7. I am Martin. This is Calming Anxiety — here every single day, free guided meditation for panic attack relief, panic attack prevention, and the quiet work of learning to feel safe.Be kind to your beautiful self. 💙

🌿 Three Daily Caring Tips for After a Panic Attack
    1. The Protein Bridge As a paramedic, Martin explains that a panic attack burns an enormous amount of glucose. Once your stomach has settled, have a small high-protein snack — a handful of nuts, some cheese, or a boiled egg. Stabilising your blood sugars helps prevent that shaky, trembling feeling from being mistaken for another panic attack returning2. Change the Narrative Stop saying "I had a panic attack." Instead, say this: "I had a period of high intensity, and I handled it." The language you use immediately after matters. You are the hero of this story, not the victim of it. 3. The Five-Minute Sun Soak When this episode ends, step outside for just five minutes. You don't need to go far. Allow natural light to reach your eyes and let the world show you it is still turning normally. It resets your circadian rhythm and gently signals to your brain that the threat has passed.
    2. 💙 A Note from Martin You showed up today for something frightening — and you chose recovery. That is not a small thing. That is courage. If this session helped you find your footing again, please share it with someone who might be sitting exactly where you were when you pressed play.
    3. Every share puts this into the hands of someone who needs it. This matters more than you know. Ready to break the cycle for good? Join the Anxiety Circuit Breaker Course at calminganxiety.fm for a structured path to lasting peace.
    4. Rest deeply. Smile gently. And to your beautiful self, my friend — be kind.
    5. 💙 I am Martin. This is Calming Anxiety. Here every single day — free guided meditation for panic attack relief, anxiety recovery, and the quiet moments in between.

This 10-minute guided meditation helps you move the dial from catastrophic thinking back toward physiological calm.Time Chapters

    3. "I can feel this sensation and still be okay." (Breathe in resilience, breathe out the need to check).
3 Daily Caring Tips for Health Anxiety Recovery
    1. The External Pivot: When you feel the urge to scan your body, immediately name three blue objects in the room to ground yourself back in the physical world.

    3. Audit Your Inputs: Commit to a "No-Google" rule for symptoms today, as searching online often feeds the fire of anxiety.

HEALTH ANXIETY RELIEF – GUIDED MEDITATION WHEN WORRY WON'T STOP Mar 26, 2026
Show notes Are you finding it impossible to stop the worry today? If you are caught in a cycle of checking, scanning, and returning to the same health-related thoughts over and over, you are not alone.
This is health anxiety, and your mind isn't malfunctioning—it is simply a sign that your nervous system is working very hard and hasn't yet been given permission to rest.
In this session, Martin Hewlett—Clinical Hypnotherapist and former Paramedic—guides you through the creation of a mental sanctuary, a place where no worry can enter without your permission.
Drawing on years of experience in the back of an ambulance, Martin explains the difference between vigilance and safety, helping you step sideways out of the health anxiety loop and into a place of genuine, lasting anxiety relief.
    Episode Chapters
    • 00:00 – Intro: A Paramedic’s Perspective on Health Anxiety
    • 01:25 – Foundation: Building Your Mental Sanctuary
    • 03:00 – The Mechanism: Why Vigilance Is Not Safety
    • 04:15 – Interrupting the Loop: Stepping Sideways into Stillness
    • 05:40 – Subconscious Healing: Affirmations for a Safe Body
    • 08:05 – 3 Daily Caring Tips for Managing Health Worry
    • 09:30 – Outro: Your First Step Toward Lasting Self-Care
Affirmations for Health Anxiety ReliefRepeat these internally to reclaim your sense of safety:
    • My body is doing its job without my help.
    • The worry is a visitor. It does not live here.
    • I am allowed to rest.
    • I am safe. I am here and I am enough.
    3 Daily Caring Tips
    1. Name Your Sanctuary: Give your safe place a specific word or color. The more specific it is, the faster your nervous system learns to find it when distress surfaces.
    2. Set a Worry Window: If your worry is persistent, allow yourself just 10 minutes to think about it consciously, then close the gate. Everything else stays outside.
    3. Notice What Didn't Happen: Your body kept going today through every thought your mind put it through. Give your body the credit it deserves.
You have already taken a meaningful act of self-care. Choosing guided meditation over a search engine is your first step toward real anxiety relief. If this session helped you find a moment of peace, please share it with someone else in need of calm today.
I am always here for you. Take care of yourself and love all that you are.
