We'll also discuss how Knowles and his arrival could change the coaching staff.

Penn State introduces Jim Knowles this week

Penn State will host its introductory press conference for Jim Knowles on Tuesday, which is why our show has been moved to Monday morning. We'll continue our extended discussion on Knowles and what he brings to Penn State on today's show. So far, we've been asking you questions about what you want to know about his defense, but today, we're asking the experts what they're curious to learn. Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer will discuss the questions they're eager to hear answered in Knowles's first impression with the media.

The main thrust of the conversation around the hire is that Penn State fans are worried that this change will set the defense back in a very important year for the program. The team retained most of its senior talent, who could have moved on to the NFL Draft this spring. Will they be up to speed in the defensive system to capitalize on this momentum toward a championship run?

Fitz's recruiting update

With January in the books, it was a truncated recruiting month for the football program, which took it's 2024 season deep into the playoffs. How did things turn out after two recruiting weekends? A new episode of the Penn State wrestling show from Blue-White Illustrated is now live. The No. 1 Nittany Lions are set to take on No. 2 Iowa night on Friday night at the Bryce Jordan Center. That, unsurprisingly, headlines much of this week's episode. First, though, host Thomas Frank Carr and reporter Greg Pickel start the show by recapping the Rutgers match. The Nittany Lions won nine of 10 bouts in a 35-3 win over the Scarlet Knights. It marked their 65th consecutive dual meet victory.

From there, the conversation turns to the fifth-ever top-two meeting between the Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions. Iowa won the first two as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Penn State won the second two with the same ranking. Who will win on Friday night? We discuss the top bouts of the night, predictions, and key storylines to close out this week's episode. While nothing is ever settled in the shifting sands of college football, we can reasonably assume that the Penn State roster is mostly set for the spring semester and spring football season. On today's show, we'll review the final numbers on the transfer portal for the Nittany Lions. The team officially announced the additions earlier this month, and all but one of its existing players have chosen a new home. Join the BWI Live Show to discuss what the roster looks like on the other side of those moves.

Reporter Greg Pickel joins the show to take you through the team's strongest and weakest positions as we reset the Penn State roster for 2025. We'll also dive deeper into the team's transition to defense under new coordinator Jim Knowles and what changes he could bring to the team for the coming season.

Penn State roster reset

Of course, the main story for all Penn State fans is about new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. The program released a clip of Knowles addressing the team on social media yesterday, and Pickel will discuss the news surrounding it.

From there, we'll transition to the other additions and subtractions from the roster this offseason. Former Penn State safety Tyrece Mills announced his new college destination this week. With that, only one former player in the portal has yet to find a home for the upcoming season.

Next, we'll review the announcement from the program last week about the team's newest members. Penn State announced new weights for the incoming transfers, some of which raised eyebrows about the jumps in size from their previously listed size measurements. We'll discuss what that could mean for the team's needs this fall.

While there's still time for players to arrive and leave in the spring portal window - and you can never count out a lawsuit against the NCAA - we're considering the roster set for the upcoming semester. It's rare for the Penn State Nittany Lions Football team to dominate the college sports news cycle the way they have since Sunday afternoon. Head coach James Franklin sent shockwaves through the sport this week by hiring defensive coordinator Jim Knowles away from the Ohio State Buckeyes just days after Knowles won a championship with his former team. That story will dominate our conversation, much like the rest of college football on today's BWI Live Show.

One of the early storylines for Penn State football is that they're a top team contending for the National Championship and quarterback Drew Allar is again in the conversation for a Heisman.

Does Penn State have enough NFL talent to win a championship?

We'll continue our theme of Penn State's path to a National Championship by discussing a tweet from Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy. In a social media post on Tuesday, Nagy claimed that it takes NFL talent to win a championship in college football. He posted the last six winners of the CFP and the number of NFL Draft picks they had in that year's draft.

The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team watched with the rest of the country as Ohio State was crowned the College Football National Champions on Monday night. The Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame 34-23 in Atlanta to secure the championship in a game that Ohio State dominated after the opening scoring drive from the Fighting Irish. Now that the season has finally ended, we're looking ahead to 2025. What does Penn State need from its roster to get back to the Playoff in next fall? We'll be counting down the top five position battles that need to play out for the upcoming season.

Penn State gets more roster news for 2025

Before we dive headfirst into recruiting, there's more roster information to discuss regarding the return of Dom DeLuca and JB Nelson for the upcoming season. What does their return do for the roster in 2025? Can Penn State keep all of the offensive linemen it has on the roster happy?

Next, we'll dive into the recent news with Big Ten foe Rutgers. Penn State lost a recruiting battle for three-star athlete Elias Coke on Wednesday to the Scarlet Knights and the next day a former Nittany Lion chose them as his transfer destination. Former Penn State cornerback Cam Miller is headed to New Jersey to continue his college career. We'll discuss the impact of those moves for Penn State.
