It's an incredibly busy end to Penn State Spring football calendar. Not only does the 2025 NFL Draft kick off tonight in Green Bay, but the team concluded its final open media session on Wednesday night. With the Blue-White Game this weekend, the team's visibility on the college football and national radar is high. We're covering all of that today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show.

Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss the team's progress as they exit camp, the Draft, and of course, recruiting. The team hosted players yesterday and will host more over the next few days, culminating in the Blue-White Game on Saturday. We'll cover the names you need to know who are visiting the program this weekend.

NCAA Lawsuit conclusion held up by roster limits

We'll start with possibly the most impactful news on the program's upcoming season, which has nothing to do with the team. The House v. NCAA case settlement has hit a major roadblock with judge Claudia Wilken refusing to accept a hard cutoff of walk-on players this year and instead grandfathering players into a gradual limitation of the roster limits over the next several seasons.

We'll discuss what that means for the Penn State roster and the players fighting for a spot on the team this spring and summer.

Next, we'll discuss the team's NFL Draft prospects who will go in the first round of the Draft tonight. We'll take a recruiting angle on the conversation, discussing the value of having two first-round picks: Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren.

Penn State practice recap

Of course, the team held open practice last night, so we'll recap what we saw and heard on Wednesday night. What did Penn State head coach James Franklin say about the format for the game? We'll review that, show you highlights from practice, and more!

Penn State recruiting visits and conversations

The team will hold four practices this week, including the Blue-White Game on Saturday. How has the team done at getting prospects on campus? The Penn State football team has just three practices left in the 2025 spring football camp. Today, we'll preview tonight's open practice on the BWI Live Show. With the transfer portal window open, recruits coming to campus, and players fighting for roster spots, we're breaking it all down for Penn State fans to understand.

Things have gone relatively quiet on the transfer portal side of recruiting since Trebor Pena visited the program last weekend. Still, there are some news updates, including new homes for several outgoing Penn State football players. Where did Ta'Mere Robinson land after leaving the program last week? We'll give you the latest.

Next, we'll discuss the critical facts we'll try to gather at Penn State's final open practice of the spring period before the Blue-White Game. Which players need to have a strong final week to gain momentum into the summer portion of roster battles? We'll discuss what we're going to focus on this week.

Blue-White Game Preview: What to expect During Penn State Spring Game Apr 22, 2025

It's game week for the first time since January for Penn State football. For the only time until the 2025 season, Penn State suits up to play for fans in the annual Blue-White Game on Saturday. Join the BWI Live Show as we discuss the final week of practice, the latest transfer portal news, and more! Veteran reporters Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer sit down for an hour to talk about the latest football and recruiting news with you!

Penn State portal update

Penn State football moved quickly last week, hosting one of the top wide receiver options in the portal on Friday. Former Syracuse wide receiver Trebor Pena joined the program to meet the staff and see how he'd fit with the Lions as one of his first stops in his portal free agency. We'll discuss what we've learned about Pena, his skills, and how he fits into the program.

From there, we'll zoom out and discuss what we've seen in the portal while discussing Penn State's chances of hosting or landing more prospects before the window closes on April 26.

Fitz's Recruiting Update

Penn State was also busy recruiting at the end of last week. Three-star safety Darrell Carey committed to the program. We'll discuss his fit, Fitz's impressions of the prospect, and how he works into the program's overall strategy for 2025.

Of course, the team has two safeties committed and a third athlete who could play the position already. How does that affect Joey O'Brien's place on the roster? Fitz will discuss the news from his visit, which took place on Thursday and Friday.

Finally, we'll review the rest of the important names and faces of those who showed up last weekend or on Monday.

US Open Preview: Penn State Wrestlers Set To Compete On National Stage Apr 21, 2025

The Penn State Wrestling team won a national championship less than a month ago but the team's current, former and future wrestlers are already on to the next challenge. On the Penn State Wrestling Show, we preview the US Open, the U20 and U17 Opens. We'll also recap the Class of 2025 recruiting rankings.

Penn State ties at the senior level

Current Nittany Lions are entered in both the U20 (also referred to as the junior division) and the Senior divisions. Starting with a look at the entries for the latter tournament, which helps set the team that competes at the Olympic level, Luke Lilledahl is one of the favorites at 57 kilograms (125.6 pounds). The same can be said for defending NCAA champ Mitchell Mesenbrink at 74 kilograms (163.1). Newcomer Rocco Welsh is the 86 kilogram (189.5 pounds) field. And, Class of 2025 signee Marcus Blaze is in the senior level tournament at 61 kilograms (134.4 pounds).

Penn State alum Beau Bartlett is in the senior tournament at 63 kilograms (143.4 pounds) and could see familiar foe Jesse Mendez of Ohio State in that weight class' final. Other Nittany Lion Wrestling Club members competing in that division include Kyle Dake, who is bumping up two weight classes to 86 kilograms (189.5 pounds), and Kyle Snyder (97 kg/213.8 pounds). And, former Penn State wrestlers Nico Megaludis and Terrell Barraclough will compete at 61 and 74 kilograms, respectively.

Nittany Lion ties in the U20 tournament

A large batch of young Penn State wrestlers will compete in the U20 tournament. The list includes Cole and Connor Mirasola at 92 and 125 kilograms, respectively, Brock Weiss at 70 kilograms, Joe Sealey at 74 kilograms, Nate Demsond at 61 kilograms, Dalton Perry at 65 kilograms, PJ Duke at 70 kilograms, and William Henckel at 79 kilograms.

One Class of 2026 commit is also in the U20 field. Johnstown Bishop McCort PIAA placer Sam Herring is in the 61 kilograms field.

James set for U17 action

Last but not least on the list of Penn State competitors at the U.S. Open is new Class of 2026 commit Jayden James. He is in the 71 kilogram bracket

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team heads into the final week of spring football on Saturday. That means the team is in the final week of spring football recruiting as well. Join the BWI Live Recruiting Show today to hear which players are joining the team for practice this weekend. Reporters Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder discuss the team's visitors, the importance of the prospects this coming weekend, and more!

Linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson and Beckham Dee, plus cornerback Jon Mitchell, will no longer be part of the program. Snyder and Fitz will discuss what they know of the situation and describe the impact of the losses.

Upcoming weekend packs a punch

The upcoming recruiting visitors for Penn State football might be one of the better lists of the spring. The transfer portal is officially open for college football players to enter their names and teams to begin contacting them about joining their squads for the upcoming season. We'll give you the latest on what we know about Penn State's situation and the strain it puts on the program with the potential roster limit rules in the future.

Next, we'll discuss what we saw and heard at practice last night. Reporter Greg Pickel will discuss his conversation with defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and get his thoughts about what open practice looked like on Tuesday evening.

The event featured more competitive portions of practice than normal, which we chronicled last night for members of Blue White Illustrated.

Between the Lines

Next, we'll discuss what Franklin had to say when he spoke for roughly ten minutes with reporters after practice. What sort of comments did he have about the transfer portal, and what did he leave unsaid? We'll break it down in our weekly segment "Between the Lines."

Of course, the news from the end of last week, which became official on Monday, surrounds the spring transfer portal. Guard JB Nelson officially put his name in the transfer portal on Monday as part of the spring rush. We'll discuss how his absence affects the battle for the left guard position and how big of a loss he is for the team.

We'll also discuss how the unregulated spring portal in the lead-up to the House Settlement could change the landscape of college football in its wake. How will Penn State navigate one of the craziest and most ruthless portal markets?

Fitz's Recruiting Update

It was another good weekend for Penn State recruiting. Four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone committed to the program late on Saturday, bringing the total commits for 2026 up to ten. Falzone is also the second quarterback in the class. How do all of those dynamics work out for the program heading into the Blue-White Game in two weekends? Fitz will recap what he learned this weekend and what important names have bubbled up in recent weeks.

The team was once again inside Holuba Hall for practice on Tuesday night. We'll recap what we saw up close and perosnal on the north sidelines of the building and what aspects of practice stood out in the third week of camp.

We'll highlight the running backs, wide receivers and the way practice changed from the previous two open practices that the media saw to begin the season.

Three thoughts from Penn State spring camp's halfway point

Of course, none of this happens in a vacuum and we have now seen enough of camp to draw some conclusions from the events. Greg Pickel joins the show to give his three thoughts at the halfway point of spring practice. What are the most interesting observations that have been evident for all three open practices? We'll each count down the top three things we've noticed.

Those observations are based partly on what Penn State head coach James Franklin tells reporters after each practice. We'll recap his latest press conference on Between the Lines. THis week we'll review his comments about the running back position, the defensive tackle battle and the backup quarterback battle in spring camp.

The Penn State Nittany Lions enter week three of the Spring football calendar with several important off-field developments ramping up. On today's BWI Live Show, we'll discuss the latest in Penn State football and recruiting news, plus highlight what we know of the House settlement case. Reporters Nate Bauer and Sean Fitz will sit down for an hour to discuss those topics, plus Penn State's efforts in the spring portal window and more! Penn State news and notes

Penn State has held two practices since our last football show, so we'll recap the news and notes from the last week to catch fans up on what's going on with the team. We'll discuss Devonte Ross's ascendance to a special teams role and discuss what we are interested in learning at practice on Tuesday evening.

Penn State's collective, Happy Valley United, recently launched its "Retain the Roar" campaign to help drive up NIL donations surrounding the spring transfer portal. We'll discuss the second year of the program's implementation and the importance of the effort.

Fitz's recruiting update

The program is also deep into its spring recruiting efforts. Fitz will discuss the latest that BWI has learned about the recruiting efforts from last week and the ones coming up tonight at Penn State practice. We'll discuss which players are trending in the right direction for offers, official visits, or potential commitments.

House Case Unresolved after first day

Penn State and the rest of the college football world await the final resolution and fallout from the House Settlement case, which started its final verdict on Monday. Bauer will discuss what he learned from the first day's deliberation and how those initial comments shape his perception of college football's immediate and long-term future. We'll discuss those implications for Penn State.

Finally, we'll end the show digging deeper into our discussion about the Penn State wide receiver room from last week. Receivers coach Marques Hagans and head coach James Franklin spoke about the position with reporters last week.
