    Bundle Of Hers

A podcast on diversity and amplifying underrepresented stories and voices in medicine. Like a seed that blossoms, it takes time to grow into our true, authentic selves. The lessons we learn along the way add to our identities. Medical residents Harjit Kaur, Margaux Miller, and Leen Samha, together with medical students Lina Ghabayen, Hạ Lê, and Mariam Asadian, discuss the challenges of studying and practicing medicine, and how their diverse backgrounds influence their everyday lives in medical school and beyond. Through honest and thought-provoking conversations, BUNDLE OF HERS continues to grow and learn from their diverse experiences, and each other.

    S2E24: Social Media's Influence Jun 26, 2019
    Show notes

We’ve never really considered ourselves as influences—we like to think we’re just sharing stories about diverse experiences in medicine. But with more and more influencers using social media to expand their reach, what does it mean to be an authentic social influencer? In this episode, we talk about the responsibilities and accountabilities of social media.

S2E23: Balancing Confidence with Humility Jun 12, 2019
    Show notes

There's a common stereotype that claims doctors are overly confident. That's actually true—it takes confidence to save a human life. But, having confidence doesn't equal to being high and mighty. Being confident means believing in yourself. Believing you're more than a test score or a bad rotation. In this episode, we talk to thoracic surgeon Dr. Rosemarie Serrone about the importance of having confidence in a world that can often make you feel like you're not good enough.

S2E22: Environmental Rights and the Connection to Health Jun 05, 2019
    Show notes

According to UNEnvironment.org, environmentalism is, "Any proclamation of a human right to environmental conditions of a specified quality." Access to clean air, drinkable water, and a safe environment are some of the basic human rights we sometimes take for granted, simply because we have access. In this episode, we talk about how, as health care providers, we can better help contribute to a more sustainable, safer, cleaner, and healthier environment for all.

S2E21: Finding Sucess in Rejection May 22, 2019
    Show notes

Rejection isn't something a lot of people want to talk about, but it's probably safe to assume rejection happens to a lot of people. Whether it's rejection to med school, from a mentor, or even from friends who aren't in the mood for hanging out—rejection's hard. But rejection doesn't have to be the end. In this episode, we talk about getting past rejections and not letting them define your successes.

    S2E20: Leadership Through Diversity May 08, 2019
    Show notes

How do you play the game but still get what you want? How do you make a change while still fitting into the system? In this episode, we talk to Dr. Nwando Olayiwola, chief clinical transformation officer at RubiconMD and founder of the Association of Minority Women Professionals, about making change and leading through authenticity, passion, and diversity.

S2E19: Coping With Failure in Med School Apr 10, 2019
    Show notes

Failing medical school is probably the biggest fear for every medical student. You don't anticipate you'll fail, and you can't really prepare for it either ... but what happens if you do fail? How do you handle the situation logistically? How do you handle the situation mentally? In this episode, we talk about the difficult topic of failing medical school and how to move forward.

    S2E18: Delivering Difficult News Apr 03, 2019
    Show notes

Going into medicine, a lot of us might fear delivering difficult news and information to patients and their families. After all, what's the "right" way to tell someone they've been diagnosed with cancer, or that their parent has passed? As doctors, is it better to be strong for the patient, or be vulnerable with them? In this episode, we talk about the importance of presentation of knowledge when you have to have that difficult conversation with patients and their families.

S2E17: Ambiguity of Culture and Religion in Science Mar 27, 2019
    Show notes

It can sometimes be difficult to separate between religion and science, especially if you practice both. But, religion and science can co-exist. In this episode, Leen and Harjit talk to fellow classmate Bryan Grover about navigating the ambiguity of culture and religion in science, and the discussion of theory versus fact.
