    Show notes

Josh sits down with Buffalo Jackson Trading Co. founder Xan Hood. Buffalo Jackson Trading Co. is a lifestyle brand delivering vintage and outdoors apparel and leather bags and goods. Their mission? Nurturing and cultivating a style that encapsulates man’s yearning to be in nature, while being caged in an urban or suburban setting. This vision of founder Xan Hood’s was originally born while on a men’s retreat, realizing that there was this need and love for all things outdoors, regardless of whether you were fully engaged or not. With that, he also realized the lack of quality and stylish apparel that told this story and supported this instinctual lust for the outdoors and heritage. With Buffalo Jackson gaining so much traction in the last year, it’s no wonder they recently expanded from solely men’s apparel and goods to an exploding women’s line as well. Want to find out more? Well, you’ll just have to tune in to this week's episode.

#117 Slyk Shades - High Quality, Mission-Based, Sustainable Eyewear with a Higher Quality Mission. Founder Josh Fitzmaurice Sharing His Story Oct 23, 2018
    Show notes

Each pair sold supports a larger mission including involvement with 1treeplanted.org as well as acting as a huge advocate for mental health. Why the connection between sunglasses and such a strong mission of philanthropy? Slyk was started and sparked from the hardship and adversity founder Josh Fitzmaurice faced after getting misdiagnosed and put on a drug that damaged his nervous system. After being forced to leave his job Fitzmaurice began his long road to recovery and to keep him sharp and active while being bedridden, he began teaching himself fashion design through youtube which would eventually leading him to eyewear design. Now, only a few months old, Slyk has grown rampantly and in an incredibly short amount of time. With building Slyk, Josh hopes to spread a message of hope that goes with a little bit of his story while crafting a mission first brand that allows its products to bring the message to light.
