Show notes
Coming off a 27-17 dismantling of the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills travel to South Beach looking to Squish the Fish in Week 2. On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico have everything you need to get ready for the Bills first road game of this unusual 2020 season.
Before breaking down the Xs and Os, Boccacino and D'Amico discuss whether the Dolphins are the Bills' biggest rivals while harkening back to the Jim Kelly/Dan Marino days, when the Dolphins clearly were Buffalo's biggest (and most hated) rival.
After sharing thoughts on how we felt about Buffalo's season-opening win, our podcast addresses the devastating news that linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano will both miss Sunday's clash. Buffalo's already thin linebacker depth will be severely tested. How will A.J. Klein and Tyler Matakevich respond to the challenge? We expect willy veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey to attack Buffalo's depleted linebackers with quick and short passes, while discussing what the Bills need to do to shut down tight end Mike Gesecki and running back Jordan Howard. What will defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Leslie Frazier do to apply pressure to Fitzy and force him into making mistakes?
We also address whether the Bills' new-look offense can continue to have success passing the ball vs. a banged-up secondary as both Xavien Howard and Byron Jones are battling injuries. If Josh Allen can continue to be effective with the play action, it should set up Devin Singletary and Zack Moss for more success in the ground game than they experienced in Week 1. We close by offering up our score predictions as the Bills look to improve to 2-0.
