The intriguing storylines are endless when analyzing Saturday's Ohio State-Penn State game in Columbus (noon ET; FOX). You could start with the fact you have a quarterback who played high school football in Pennsylvania starting for the Buckeyes, and a QB who played HS football in Ohio starting for the Nittany Lions. And stuff like that is fun, but let's get down to brass tacks. Like most big games, this one will be won in the trenches. Can the Buckeyes run the ball against an excellent Penn State defense?

How do Buckeyes stack up with Penn State? | Time for more Hayden? Oct 16, 2023

Penn State week has arrived and on today's show Dave Biddle and Dan Rubin take a close look at the Ohio State-PSU matchup and how the No. 3 Buckeyes stack up against the No. 7 Nittany Lions. Penn State's national statistical rankings are impressive (No. 2 scoring defense and No. 5 scoring offense in the country) but the Nittany Lions haven't played a good team yet. Of all the Big Ten teams, only Michigan has played a weaker schedule up to this point.

Ohio State has had a tougher slate and the Buckeyes have put up strong numbers themselves (No. 3 scoring defense and No. 20 scoring offense in the land). However, this will unquestionably be their most difficult test of the season thus far. The Nittany Lions haven't really played anyone this year, but they have an extremely talented roster.

Now these two undefeated heavyweights will finally square off in Columbus on Saturday (noon ET; FOX) and we talk all about it on the Monday 5ish. We also wonder if Dallan Hayden should get more playing time at running back for OSU, even if all the other backs are able to get healthy.

Ohio State was favored by 17.5 points at Purdue on Saturday and the No. 3 Buckeyes nearly doubled that point total. Third-ranked Ohio State (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) took control early and buried the Boilermakers (2-5, 1-3) 41-7 at Ross-Ade Stadium.
