Meeting Carlos Locklyn | Grab RB from portal? | Sayin hype | Spring game format Apr 10, 2024

It is a big day on the Ohio State football beat as the media will meet with new running backs coach Carlos Locklyn for the first time at noon. Head coach Ryan Day will also field questions from reporters. As for Locklyn, he is inheriting an excellent room that is headlined by TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. However, the Buckeyes did just lose Dallan Hayden to the portal. Does this mean OSU needs to find a running back via the portal, simply for depth purposes? It is one of the many questions we are curious to hear Locklyn and Day answer today.

Also, is there fire to go along with all of this Julian Sayin smoke? Sources we trust continue to tell us yes and it will be interesting to see how the true freshman quarterback performs at Saturday's spring game.

Speaking of the spring game, there are still some details to be ironed out, but we now know most of the format. Steve Helwagen and Dave Biddle will explain said format on today's show.

And we will close with some quick OSU basketball discussion. What players from the portal is Jake Diebler most likely to land and how many players from the portal will the Buckeyes end up signing?

Ohio State's spring game is just five days away and we are of course anxious to see a lot of things from the Buckeyes on Saturday. Dan Rubin and Dave Biddle talk in-depth about OSU football on today's show and what we are most curious to see from the Scarlet & Gray. First and foremost, will there be any separation between Devin Brown and Will Howard at quarterback? Or will that competition continue in preseason camp?

We will also field questions from our live audience about Buckeye football.

We will finish the show talking some college basketball. Ohio State is going hard after Bronny James and OSU is the slight betting favorite to land him. How much would you like to see LeBron's son suit up for the Buckeyes?

How will RB carries be divided for Buckeyes? Apr 03, 2024

Ryan Day allowed Tony Alford to decide how to divide the playing time at running back for Ohio State, so we presume the same will be true with Carlos Locklyn coaching the Buckeyes' RBs. Day has not been shy about calling it "the best running back room in the country" and that begs a question: How will the carries be divided between TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins? Are we expecting something in the 50/50 range presuming they both stay healthy? How much action will Dallan Hayden see this year? What about true freshman James Peoples?

Also, the more we hear about Locklyn, the more we are impressed. Does he have one of the most interesting backgrounds of any Ohio State coach in recent memory? We sure think so and we cannot wait to interview him when he arrives in Columbus. We think Day hit another home run here in what has been an incredible offseason for his program.

Speaking of interviewing Ohio State coaches and players, here is the list of names that will be available after practice today at 11:15 a.m: Judkins, Hayden, James Laurinaitis, Matt Guerrieri, Caleb Downs, Josh Simmons and Mitchell Melton. It has not taken Laurinaitis long to show his recruiting chops and zero Bucknutters are surprised about that.
