Well, that was quite the bombshell. Thursday came the announcement that USC and UCLA would be joining the Big Ten, beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. Are we surprised by this news? Or did we think something like this was coming down the pike? Also, what does this mean for the Big Ten going forward? Will they stop at 16 teams, or create a superconference with 20 or more teams? And if they add four more programs, who are the most-likely candidates?

Ohio State is on a hot streak on the recruiting trail. Meanwhile, Michigan is in a downward spiral. The Wolverines were already struggling big time in recruiting for 2023 and then last night they lost their top-rated recruit in their class, 4-star linebacker Raylen Wilson. Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle to discuss that, take a look at the Buckeyes' recruiting efforts on the defensive side of the ball, and we also take several of your questions.

Hartline's excellent adventure | What's next in recruiting for Buckeyes? Jun 27, 2022

Oh what a week it was for Ohio State and Brian Hartline last week as the Buckeyes landed a trio of highly-rated wide receivers in consecutive days. First it was 5-star Carnell Tate (the nation's No. 3 WR per the 247Sports Composite), then it was 5-star Brandon Inniss (No. 2 WR) and wrapping up the three-day odyssey was high 4-star Noah Rogers (No. 9 WR). That's a total of 14 stars in three days. Not too shabby. Hartline continues to prove he is the best recruiter in the country among all position coaches, and he spoke to NFL Network over the weekend about his recruiting philosophy. We will touch on that on today's show as well.

But what about defensive recruiting, you ask? Today's show will also take a look at a trio of 4-star defensive recruits who took official visits to Ohio State this past weekend. They include cornerback Kayin Lee, defensive tackle John Walker and DT/DE Darron Reed. The good news for the Buckeyes regarding each of them? The Dean of Ohio State Football Recruiting, Bill Kurelic, has put in a Crystal Ball for OSU to land them. Doesn't mean the fight is over for any of them -- it's not -- but it's trending very well for the Scarlet & Gray.
