Ohio State beats Maryland postgame: Will Dallan Hayden play a major role in an undefeated version of The Game? Nov 20, 2022
    Show notes

On this postgame Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means are in the Maryland press box to break down Ohio State's 43-30 win over the Terrapins on Saturday. But everything about this OSU win pointed toward what will now be a showdown of undefeated teams in a week, as both Ohio State and Michigan improved to 11-0.

In the first segment, text subscribers share their level of confidence in the Buckeyes right now, while Doug, Nathan and Stephen break down the OSU run game and talk about the role freshman tailback Dallan Hayden could play next week.

In the second segment (35:55), the talk turns to the Ohio State passing game, C.J. Stroud and the number of targets the receivers are getting.

In segment three (47:54), it's on to the Ohio State and how much it can be trusted in a big game, and which defensive stars could show up next week.

How a half-point move affects our Ohio State bet, plus a formula for sagging teams: Betting the Buckeyes on Buckeye Talk Nov 18, 2022
    Show notes

On this episode of Betting the Buckeyes, Tyler Shoemaker and Doug Lesmerises talk about Ohio State football and national college football from a gambling perspective, as they always do. Doug has a microphone issue on this one, but TShoe is loud and strong and the content is great, so thanks for hanging in.

First, they talk about Ohio State-Maryland, what Tyler's formula would set as the line for this game and how to adjust for teams that are sagging down the stretch. Then it's the Ohio State bet of the week and how a half-point move may or may not change the angle.

Then (16:43), it's on to Power 5 picks, where, honestly, neither Doug nor TShoe has done that well this year. Why? Then it's picks on USC, Texas, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, Purdue and other teams.

Finally (38:14), TShoe gets into the weeds with his upset special and his three best bets, and he offers a tidbit of gambling advice.

Thanks for listening to Betting the Buckeyes on Buckeye Talk.

Back to a reliable Ohio State bet, plus advice on parlays and Bielema belief: Betting the Buckeyes Nov 11, 2022
    Show notes

On this Friday Buckeye Talk, Betting the Buckeyes is back after a week off. That means Doug Lesmerises and Tyler Shoemaker are discussing Ohio State and national college football from a gambling perspective.

In the first segment, TShoe and Doug scout out an Ohio State bet of the week and talk about how to bet in bad weather, like the Buckeyes faced last week.

Then the middle segment has their picks from the Power 5 conferences, with playoff contenders Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon and TCU all in the gambling mix.

Then it's the final segment and the upset pick of the week, as well as TShoe's three best bets. Finally, the advice tidbit is Doug asking Tyler how to handle parlay bets, because Doug recently lost one and it made him mad.

Is Ohio State or Michigan on top? Big Ten fan satisfaction rankings Nov 10, 2022
    Show notes

This Thursday Buckeye Talk episode is homework that nobody actually wanted.

Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means created their own Big Ten fan satisfaction rankings for each of the 14 schools, combining how good the schools are at football and men's basketball and how much fans care about each of the two programs.

    The formula is this:

    • Each school was broken into two percentages that equal 100 to show how much football matters at that school compared to men's basketball. A school might be an even 50-50, or it might be 90 football and 10 men's basketball, or 75 men's basketball and 25 football. That's a way of showing how much fans care about each of those two sports compared to each other.
    • Then, each of the 28 football and men's basketball teams was ranked on a scale of 1 to 14, with 1 being very unsatisfied and 14 being completely happy.
    • Each of those rankings was then multiplied by the caring percent. And then the two numbers were added together to get that schools satisfaction rating. For instance, a team given an 8 in men's basketball that had a 40 percent care rating for basketball would get 320 points, and then a 6 in football for a 60 percent care rating would create 360 points, and overall, that team's satisfaction number would be 680.
    • See!? It's a math podcast!

Doug, Nathan and Stephen talk it out and reveal their 1-14 rankings. Thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk.
