Ep. 200: New players, new plans, new schemes to watch in Ohio State's spring game Apr 10, 2019
    Show notes

Ohio State's spring football game on Saturday will offer the first public viewing of the Ryan Day offense and the Greg Mattison/Jeff Hafley defense. And while the Buckeyes won't make any decisions about which players are going to play in the fall based off Saturday, fans might be able to get a feel for how the Buckeyes are going to play.

On the latest Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises and Stephen Means dove into that idea, talking about the players they're most interested in watching and which ones could really shine.

Then came a basketball discussion, about Kaleb Wesson's decision to take a look at the NBA, and where the Buckeyes stand after two years of Chris Holtmann.

It got a little heated at times, but that's just good podcasting. Also, catch the Taco Bell breakdown at the end. And thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk.

Ohio State landed the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation in both 2017 and 2018. If the Buckeyes are going to make the College Football Playoff in 2019, it will be on the backs of those players.

    So how are they developing?

In the latest episode of Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises dove into the 24 players ranked among the top 100 recruits in the nation in those two years and figured out how many of them are on a strong development track.

    That was interesting.

Then Doug took a lot of questions from the subscribers to the new text app, as well as questions from Twitter, as always. He talked Justin Fields and Damon Arnette, Ryan Day and Jeff Hafley, Jaelen Gill and Nicholas Petit-Frere and more. The spring game is on the horizon, and that will be previewed in next week’s episode. But a lot was covered in regards to OSU's spring progress in this episode.

Doug Lesmerises took on that reader question in the latest episode of Buckeye Talk, and the answer isn’t an easy one. Additionally, listeners asked great questions about the new Bullet position on the defense; the defensive end depth; the standouts at the student appreciation practice; the surprise player for this season; and whether Ryan Day or Tom Herman is closest to winning a national title.

Then it was time to wrap up the basketball season. Back from Oklahoma after covering the NCAA Tournament, Stephen Means took your questions on the past and future of the basketball Buckeyes.

So really, it’s two podcasts in one. And we always appreciate you listening.

Ep. 194: Examining every aspect of Justin Fields as Ohio State’s quarterback Feb 27, 2019
    Show notes

Ohio State opens spring football practice next week with a new Buckeye in the middle of everything.

Justin Fields, the former five-star recruit and recent transfer from Georgia, will open the 2019 season as the Buckeyes starting quarterback, barring any huge surprise. He’ll certainly open spring as the player Ohio State fans are most curious about.

On this Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means and Doug Lesmerises examine every aspect of Fields - as a person, a runner and a thrower. They watched film of his highlights from high school and college, watched the 10-part TV documentary he was featured in, talked to people who knew him at Georgia and crunched the numbers to compare him to OSU quarterbacks of the past.

The result in a two-hour podcast that should give you an overview of Fields heading into spring and a realistic view of how he might replace Dwayne Haskins as the Buckeyes starting quarterback.

They also led off with a quick discussion about the NCAA Tournament hopes for the basketball Buckeyes after their win over Iowa. But mostly, this is all about Fields.
