Show notes

Join Matt and I as catch up on the world of Rain City Drive.

We get into the decision to change the bands name, and how it was actually something he wanted to change before their last album came out. Working with Rory from Dayseeker and how that collaboration came to be.

Matt also shares how the approach to this album was different from To Better Days, how being more comfortable in who he is and what he does allowed him to lose the chip on his shoulder he had previously.

We also talk about the process for putting out new music out, the reaction to the bands newer music when the bands on the road, and some of the more creative merch items the band has been selling as of late and more in this chat with the Rain City Drive frontman.

Show notes

Join Mark and I as we chat about the bands latest album, Carnal over a couple of bru's.

Mark talks about the making of Carnal, how this album came along a bit quicker than Spirits, and how this album might be more of a return to the sound long time Nothing More fans enjoy compared to their last.

We also talk about the few beer collaborations the band has done, most of them I was literally drinking, and what else Mark would like to do in this space.

We also talk about family and finding the time to balance out work and home life. Mark shares how he's able to impart some wisdom of making his passion a career and the sacrifices that come with it to his son, who's a few years into doing gymnastics.

Upheaval Festival 2024 Aug 21, 2024

Show notes

Join me for this bonus episode as we go back in time to this years Upheaval Festival to chat with Jason Hook of FlatBlack, Austin Meade and Christoper and Walter of Stabbing Westward. Jason and I talk about FlatBlack's debut album, which had dropped that day. How it's been getting out on the road to play songs no one really knows, adding a live album to the deluxe edition of the vinyl, and how important it was to make this feel like a band versus Jason and hired guns and more. Austin and I get cozy in the bands locker room dressing area, and talk about his tireless work ethic. Balancing out being a new dad and marriage in addition to all the writing and touring he does, and how it's been to own your own bus and fixing it when it breaks down and more as we catch up with Austin following his set. Lastly, get in the van with Christopher, Walter and I as we chat with the Stabbing Westward guys before their set, and talk about the band kinda being back now, the resurgence it seems they are on, and getting to bed a part of a lot of various festivals. How some have been tagging them as nu metal, even though they were around before that. Chris and Walt open up about what got them back together, and what we can expect from them moving forward. 459. Jake Taylor (In Hearts Wake) Aug 11, 2024

Show notes

Join Jake and I as we discuss the bands latest album, Incarnation, and how interesting it was for the band to do a compendium piece to their debut album Divination.

We dive a bit into the concept behind the tarot cards, and them being upside down from their counterparts. I share a story about having my cards read and how this idea of the upside down tarot cards may not be evil or bad, but a matter of a tool or skill you haven't acquired yet.

Jake shares why Michigan feels like a second home for the band, working with Josh Schroeder and the unique bond they have with each other that brings out the best in each other. We also talk about getting all these Michigan artists on a track on the album and more in this chat with the In Hearts Wake frontman.

457. CC (Black Veil Brides) Jul 28, 2024

Show notes

Join CC and I as we reminisce about the time we met in IN on the never-ending Trinity of Terror tour. How it was getting to do a package tour for so long, and the fun they would have with the other bands, including a bar hop that consisted of only chain restaurants.

CC recounts some of the early days of BVB and the rough rise they had with other bands and media types taking shots at the band, but how an unlikely ally came to their aid and championed the band.

We get a bit more personal and talk about the struggles of being on the road and and the toll that can take on you physically and more to the point, mentally. We open up about some of our mental health struggles and I share my journey through therapy, which CC reveals he is about to start his journey with it, and how excited he is to work on himself.

All of this and more in this 2 hour long epic chat with the Black Veil Brides drummer.
