    500. Andrew Wells (Eidola / Dance Gavin Dance) Jun 15, 2025
    Show notes

Join Andrew and I as we do what we always do on these and catch up with one another.

Andrew and I reflect on the journey of getting to 500 episodes and how it’s similar to his journey between Eidola and Dance Gavin Dance, where it’s head down and continue to do the work. Realizing the importance of taking time to enjoy the journey and not getting burnt out.

Andrew reflects on doing one of the biggest tours of his and DGD’s careers with Falling In Reverse. How it was to play to crowds of that size, and a story of an event that happened at the Detroit date I attended.

Andrew also talks about the most successful and biggest Eidola tours in the bands career, living in Utah getting ready to be a first time parent and more in this chat with my good friend.

    499. Stephen Christian (Anberlin / Anchor and Braille) Jun 08, 2025
    Show notes

Join Stephen and I for this quick chat discussing the upcoming Anchor and Braille album, New Mexico.

Stephen reveals how Anchor and Braille has changed for him over the years, while still at its core being about being a vessel for music that needs to come out of him.

We dig a bit deeper into the process of self exploration Stephen went through at the end of Anberlin calling it a day back in 2014. The journey he went on to find himself and which ultimately led him and the rest of his bandmates back to one another.

Stephen also talks about getting to write new Anberlin music with Matty Mullins, the similarities between being the frontman of a band to preaching to people in his ministry and more in this chat with the Anberlin / Anchor and Braille vocalist.

    498. Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage / Times of Grace) May 25, 2025
    Show notes

Join Jesse and I as we go deep and reflect on some major life experiences that we had both gone through recently with our wives and how those hardships strengthened those relationships.

Jesse shares his journey through meditation, learning to not be such a people pleaser and learning

to be more tapped into nature and leaving the noise the outside world behind.

We also discuss the importance of communication and how it was for Jesse to be told he needed to try harder with his lyrics for the newest Killswitch album. How he took the criticism and was able to unlock something that both he and the band were super proud of and more in this chat with the Killswitch Engage frontman.

    497. Nick Hexum (311) May 18, 2025
    Show notes

Join Nick and I as we talk about the inspiration behind his series of solo EP's, the various moon phases, and how I became aware of one of them (waxing gibbous) due to my wife and I seeing a pretty moon one night and wondering what kind it was.

From here we dip into Nick really looking inward over the last few years and wanting to challenge himself creatively outside of what 311 does and

We discuss how barebones the songs seem to be, with the emphasis being placed more on the lyrics, but that even the songs arrangements and more so the instruments used were very intentional to help evoke the sentiments Nick is conveying.

We look back on 3 decades of Nick's career, the journey it's taken him on and if the process of making music that's more immediate will maybe find it's way into creating the next 311 album and more.

    496. Chris Davis (The Ghost Inside / Texas In July / Late For Load In Podcast) May 11, 2025
    Show notes

Join Chris and I as we discuss the evolution of being a fan of music in the physical media age. From scouring the "thank you's" for bands you should check out to the era of the producer/labels being as much of a factor in what albums you bought as the bands themselves.

We get into how bands go about choosing producers now when it doesn't seem to be as important, as well as the misinformation surrounding cowriters in metal and rock music.

Chris opens up about how the band played it a bit safe on their comeback record, and how that became the impetus for really doing what they wanted on their latest record. Chris also shares what lead to the band canceling a tour, and how close the band was to possibly breaking up if they hadn't.

We discuss Chris's new podcast, Late For Load In, and how that has been for him to dive into and so much more in this wide ranging chat with The Ghost Inside guitarist.

    495. Lorenzo Antonucci (Crowdkill Records / Ex Sworn Enemy) May 04, 2025
    Show notes

Join Lorenzo and I as discuss his journey through the music industry and how it lead him to co founding Crowdkill Records with his friends, and how it's been to navigate being an upstart label.

We get into his time in Sworn Enemy, how it was to try and traverse the bands changing sound with their core fanbase. Lorenzo talks about the struggles of navigating the bands career where it was taking off in another country, while declining here in the states.

We reflect on both being from the East Coast and living in different areas of the country now. Still having that sense of pride in where you were raised, regardless of physical location. How the caring for his father before he passed really allowed him to reconnect to his roots.

We talk about Lorenzo's numerous creative endeavors from acting to producing, a skin care line, a record label and so much more in this chat.

We discuss how that was the impetus for Brock and Tyler to want to write more music together and the journey they went on to create Paradise Slaves.

The guys share how it was finding the rest of the guys to round out the band, the importance of being friends more so than just being a great player, as well as some funny stories from their first show.

We also touch on how it's been to navigate being a new band decades into a career, adapting to playing in arenas for some of the bands first shows and more in this chat with Brock and Tyler.

    Show notes

Join Justin and I as we.....well honestly I spend a lot of this quick chat gushing over the bands latest album, The Program.

Justin talks about the song writing process for the band, how he approaches writing lyrics that REALLY line up with what the band is doing musically.

Justin shares his journey as a musician, from getting into the business as a kid and "throwing away" his opportunity at stardom to pursue a style of music he was more passionate about. How that success feels knowing it's earned versus bought or manufactured.

We get into some genres of music Justin would like to potentially tap into in the future and more in this quick chat with the BRKN LOVE guitarist and front man.

    492. Dwid Hellion (Integrity/Psywarfare) Mar 30, 2025
    Show notes

Join Dwid and I as we cover a broad spectrum of topics like how it feels to have his lyrics from the 80’s still being relevant in 2025.

We also get into growing up in the Midwest and how a lack of having much to do really helped inspire the creativity of him and his bandmates to forge their own sound. We reflect on how hard it was for them to really break through in the various heavier scenes.

We get into what led to Dwid moving to Belgium in the early 2000s, and how that was given the global climate post 9/11. How it's been for him to see things going on here in the states living abroad, and some of the challenges that presents when the band has to tour or write records.

We get into this and MUCH more in this chat with the Integrity frontman.
