Children who eat too much candy may be more likely to be arrested for violent behavior as adults, new research suggests.

British experts studied more than 17,000 children born in 1970 for about four decades. Of the children who ate candies or chocolates daily at age 10, 69 percent were later arrested for a violent offense by the age of 34. Of those who didn't have any violent clashes, 42 percent ate sweets daily.

Parents who consistently bribe their children into good behavior with candies and chocolates could be doing harm. That might prevent kids from learning how to defer gratification, leading to impulsive behavior and violence.

Previous studies have found better nutrition leads to better behavior, in both children and adults.

Paralyzed by Fear: A Guide to Overcoming Life's Biggest Obstacle (Or at Least Pretending To)

Let's face it, fear is the ultimate party pooper. It's that pesky little voice in your head that whispers, "Maybe you should just stay in bed today and watch 'Friends' reruns." Or, "Nah, let's just order pizza again. Who needs to go out and socialize?"

But fear, my friend, is a bully. And like any bully, it thrives on your weakness. So, how do we stand up to this fear-mongering tyrant? Well, here are a few tips:

    2. Make a List of All the Worst Things That Could Happen: This might sound counterintuitive, but it can actually be quite liberating. Once you've listed all the terrible, awful, no-good things that could possibly happen, you'll realize that most of them are either highly unlikely or you could probably survive.

    3. Create a Fear Monster: Give your fear a name and a personality. Is it a grumpy old man? A sassy teenager? Once you've personified your fear, you can start to see it as a silly, attention-seeking creature that needs a good smackdown. ( Ms. Insecurity)

    4. Join a Support Group: Find a group of people who are also terrified of everything. Sharing your fears with others can make you feel less alone and more empowered to face them. Plus, you can all laugh together about how ridiculous your fears are.

    5. Just Do It: Sometimes, the only way to overcome fear is to simply take the leap. Even if you're scared out of your mind, just do it. You might surprise yourself.

Remember, fear is a normal human emotion. But it shouldn't control your life. So, the next time you find yourself paralyzed

by fear, just remember: you're stronger than you think, and you've got this.

    FUN FACT:

Did you know that the average person takes about 2,000 steps per day? That's a lot of walking! Imagine if you could turn those steps into energy. Did you know, there are actually shoes that can do just that. They have built-in generators that convert kinetic energy from your steps into electricity. So, while you're walking around, you could be charging your phone or other small devices. Pretty cool idea, right?

    Quote

Don’t aim at success-the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued: it must ensue: (follow in order)

Everyday Choices That Ruin Your Joy

We all strive for happiness and fulfillment, but sometimes, it's the small, seemingly insignificant choices we make that can inadvertently dampen our joy. Here are a few everyday habits that might be sabotaging your happiness:

    1. Comparing Yourself to Others

Social media has made it easier than ever to compare ourselves to others. However, constantly comparing your life to the curated versions presented online can lead to feelings of inadequacy and dissatisfaction. Remember, everyone's journey is unique.

    2. Overcommitting

Saying "yes" to everything can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stressed. It's important to prioritize your time and energy and learn to say "no" when necessary.

    3. Focusing on the Negative

Dwelling on negative thoughts and experiences can create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Instead, try to focus on the positive aspects of your life.

    4. Neglecting Self-Care

Taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally is essential for overall well-being. Make time for activities that nourish your soul, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time in nature.

    5. Holding Grudges

Holding onto grudges can weigh you down and make it difficult to move forward. Forgiveness, even if it's just for yourself, can be liberating.

    6. Avoiding Risk

Step outside of your comfort zone and embrace new challenges. Taking calculated risks can lead to personal growth and fulfillment.

    7. Focusing on Material Possessions

While material possessions can provide comfort and convenience, true happiness comes from meaningful relationships, experiences, and personal growth.

    8. Living in the Past or Future

Instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, focus on the present moment. Mindfulness can help you appreciate the simple joys of life.

By being mindful of these everyday choices, you can take steps to cultivate more joy and fulfillment in your life. Remember, happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Refrigerator Rifts: How Food Can Cause Relationship Chaos

We've all been there: the late-night raid on the fridge, only to find that your partner has "borrowed" the last slice of pizza or the final scoop of ice cream. These seemingly minor food disputes can escalate into full-blown relationship chaos, leaving a trail of resentment and frustration in their wake.

    Common Refrigerator Rifts:

The Great Cheese Caper: Is it really necessary to finish off the entire block of cheddar in one sitting?

The Ice Cream Wars: Who has the right to claim the last scoop of your favorite flavor?

The Leftovers Dilemma: Should leftovers be considered communal property, or is it a "first come, first serve" situation?

The "I'll Eat It Later" Lie: How many times have you found that "later" never comes?

The Secret Stash: Does your partner have a hidden compartment in the fridge for their personal snacks?

    Why Do Food Disputes Matter?

While these conflicts may seem trivial, they can actually reveal deeper issues within a relationship. They can be a symptom of:

Poor communication: When partners struggle to communicate their needs and expectations, it can lead to misunderstandings and resentment.

Lack of respect: If one partner consistently disregards the other's preferences or needs, it can erode trust and respect.

Underlying power struggles: Food disputes can sometimes mask underlying power dynamics within a relationship.

Unhealthy coping mechanisms: Stress and anxiety can

manifest in unhealthy eating habits and hoarding behavior.

    Tips for Resolving Refrigerator Rifts:

Open communication: Talk openly and honestly about your expectations and preferences regarding food.

Set ground rules: Establish clear rules for sharing food, such as labeling leftovers or agreeing on a "fair share" policy.

Practice empathy: Try to understand your partner's perspective and avoid making assumptions.

Seek professional help: If food-related conflicts are causing significant strain on your relationship, consider seeking couples therapy.

By addressing these issues proactively, you can create a more harmonious and peaceful living environment, both in and out of the kitchen. Remember, a well-stocked fridge can be a source of comfort and nourishment, but it should never become a battleground.

The Universal Fear of Aging: A Deep Dive

Aging is an unavoidable part of life, yet it's often met with a mix of anticipation and dread. While some people embrace the wisdom and experiences that come with age, many harbor deep-seated fears about the changes that accompany it. Let's explore some of the most common fears people have about aging.

    1. Loss of Physical Health

One of the most prevalent fears associated with aging is a decline in physical health. People worry about developing chronic illnesses, becoming frail, or losing mobility. The prospect of being unable to perform daily tasks independently can be particularly daunting.

    2. Cognitive Decline

The fear of cognitive decline, including conditions like Alzheimer's disease or dementia, is a major concern for many. The thought of losing memory, mental sharpness, and the ability to make decisions can be deeply distressing.

    3. Social Isolation

As people age, they may experience a decline in their social circle due to the loss of loved ones, reduced mobility, or changes in lifestyle. The fear of social isolation and loneliness can be a significant concern, especially for those who value their connections with others.

    4. Financial Insecurity

Financial worries are a common source of stress for people of all ages, but they can become particularly acute as we get older. Concerns about retirement savings, healthcare costs, and the potential for financial dependence can lead to anxiety and fear.

    5. Loss of Relevance and Purpose

Many people fear that as they age, they will become less relevant and valuable to society. The idea of losing their job, hobbies, or social roles can be a source of anxiety and a blow to self-esteem.

It's important to remember that while these fears are common, they are not unavoidable. By taking proactive steps to maintain physical and mental health, building strong social connections, and planning for the future, individuals can combat the negative impacts of aging and embrace the positive aspects of this natural process.
