New data showed inflation in the United States has risen at the fastest rate since 1981, and the travel and tourism industries have already felt the force of the changes. In an infographic from Yahoo Finance, the Federal Reserve revealed prices over the last year have increased for several travel-related industries, including hotel rooms (25.1 percent), rental cars (23.4 percent), restaurants (6.9 percent) and recreation (4.8 percent).

How to Travel on a Budget and Still Enjoy It

If you live on a budget, like we do and like most people do. I have some tips for you.

You don’t have to go far to get the benefits that travel has to offer. Find local places, and do a day trip or over night trip.

Try camping like we do, that is always on of the cheapest ways to enjoy travel. You can get so mush out of camping by bringing your own bikes, kayaks or paddle board. This saves a ton on renting these types of things.

Visit family and friends. When you stay with family and friends you cut down on hotel costs and probably a little bit of food cost. You can buy groceries, have BBQ’s and dinners, and limit going out to eat.

When you are traveling to visit family and friends, pack snacks.

Choose Off-Peak Travel Times: Travel during the off-season to avoid peak pricing.

Book in Advance: Book flights, accommodations, and tours well in advance to get the best deals.

Use Travel Comparison Websites: Utilize websites like

Skyscanner, Kayak, and Booking.com to compare prices and find the best deals.

The average person takes just 38 seconds to judge your home — and they will notice if you have vacuumed, if your windows are dirty, and if there is a ‘funny smell’.

Do you judge other peoples homes?

Tips for minding your own damn business

    1. Ease up on this type of judgement. Obviously if the house is a complete wreck, get through the dinner or whatever you are there for, don’t go back again in the future if it really bothers you. But don’t talk badly about the way people choose to live their live. You don’t know their circumstances.

    2) Never say anything about the condition of their home if it is a mess. It is just plain rude. Find something that you do like and say something nice about it, don’t point out the flaws.

    3) It best to just focus on enjoying your friends, appreciate the fact that they invited you over and that they are okay with you seeing there home. A home is very personal, so even if it is in an imperfect state, they trust you enough to invite you over.

Random Question: You’re given $25,000 and a plane ticket to anywhere – but you have to leave tonight. Where are you going?

Podcast Topic: Unpacking Your Love Language: Jason did you know your Love Language Is Likely Whatever You Didn’t Get as a Child?

According to a YouGov survey, around 30% of U.S. adults report being familiar with the concept of the five love languages, indicating that a significant portion of the population may not know their own love language.

I can safely say we fall into this category.

If you want to find out your love language go to : https://5lovelanguages.com/

The 5 Love Languages: What are they?

    The 5 love languages are

    • Gifts (thoughtful tokens, not just expensive diamonds but can be),
    • Physical Touch (hugs, hand-holding, touches, caresses, sexual intimacy, etc.),
    • Quality Time (having connected, active time together),
    • Acts of Service (such as cooking a meal, cleaning the bathroom, filling up your car with gas), and
    • Words of Affirmation (verbal praise such as compliments).

The Childhood Connection: How does it relate to your childhood?

If your love language is Gifts:

You likely didn’t receive many gifts, or the ones you got weren’t what you wanted, or weren’t thoughtful or meaningful in some other way.

If your love language is Physical Touch:

Your parents or siblings didn’t often hug, cuddle, or otherwise be physically affectionate with you. You may have also received touch you didn’t like, if, for example, you and your siblings always wrestled with or hurt one another.

If your love language is Quality Time:

You may have spent a large part of your childhood alone, whether because you were an only child, had different interests than the rest of your family, or because you faded in the background due to having multiple siblings.

If your love language is Acts of Service:

You may have had to always do things for yourself or had to start doing things for yourself and others, common with latchkey kids, or older siblings when the parents work.

If your love language is Words of Affirmation:

You were often criticized or critiqued for your failings and/or didn’t often hear verbal praise for your accomplishments.

The Gross Reason You Might Not Want to Eat Food If a Fly Lands on It

Nobody likes flies buzzing around and landing on food. It’s disgusting, for sure, but is it harmful? A study on what happens when a fly lands on your food found it’s more than gross: It’s germy.

Jason, how do you feel about fly’s landing on your food? Does it bother you and to what extent do you think about it.

If fly’s land on your food do you continue to eat it or do you throw it away?

Have you ever been to a party outside and people leave their food exposed to the elements? If you see fly’s land on the food do you still eat it or do you move onto another dish?

What happens when a fly lands on your food?

We did a short not too long ago about stinging fly’s and we discovered what actually happens when a fly lands on your food. So when a fly lands on your food, it vomits.

“When a fly eats, it has to throw up digestive enzymes onto the meal. “These enzymes also contain some remnants of whatever it last ate, and that might have been a meal full of pathogens. Flies eat some pretty disgusting things.”

But let’s back up: Before the fly vomits, it “uses its antennae to sample your food with taste sensors on its feet,”. If it likes what it tastes, it sticks down its tongue and coats your food with saliva containing digestive enzymes (a form of puke).

Are you grossed out yet? This detail may do it: “The fly also poops on your food. Some good news on the No. 2 front: “It’s such small amounts.

What kinds of diseases can flies spread?

Here’s something else that can happen when a fly lands on your food: It can spread salmonella, E. coli, parasites and dysentery. A 2023 study published in the journal Microorganisms found flies can pass along bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains. “House flies serve as a vector to move disease from one place to another,”. “Because we live together, they can spread many different pathogens between humans, animals and the environment.”

On the upside, a fly can share only a tiny number of germs. And fortunately, when it comes to food poisoning, the dose makes the poison, as the old saying goes.

So when should you worry and throw out your food?

If you let the food sit out at room temperature for a long time, those bacteria can multiply to the point where they become dangerous.

What happens when a fly lands on your food after it has been dumpster diving? That’s a red flag because a trash bin is an “obvious source of contamination. You should also steer clear of eating if the fly has touched down on raw meat or animal poop before visiting your dish.

How can you protect your food from flies?

Simple measures like using window screens and hanging nontoxic, sticky flypaper traps can prevent these pests from setting up shop in your kitchen. At picnics and barbecues, keep dishes covered as much as possible. Also key: “Make sure that foods are kept at the right temperature and don’t sit out too long, as that can turn a small problem into a big one.

I like to use Food tents for Parties. Also after everyone finished eating, I would bring it inside in the kitchen and cover so people could still come in and munch but the food was free from fly’s. Camping I like to use Food Tents or covers.

Trick-or-Treat Etiquette: A Spooky Guide for Little Monsters

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it's time for kids to wear their costumes and embark on the age-old tradition of trick-or-treating. But before they hit the streets, let's make sure they know how to be a polite and respectful ghoul. Here's a spooky guide to trick-or-treat etiquette:

The Great Pumpkin Approach: When you approach a door, don't knock like you're trying to wake a hibernating bear. A gentle knock or ring will do just fine. Remember, the homeowner might be a little startled by a giant, furry monster suddenly appearing on their doorstep.

Grabbing candy: Instead of politely asking for candy, some kids might try to grab it from the bowl or bag. This is rude and can be considered stealing.

Asking for more than one piece of candy: While it's tempting to want more candy, asking for multiple pieces can be greedy and rude.

The Candy Crumble: When you receive your loot, be careful not to spill it all over the porch. A messy candy trail can be a real buzzkill for the next trick-or-treater. And please, don't try to stuff all your candy into your pockets. Mom & Dad please make sure your child has a proper bag for there candy. Don’t give them the paper thin shopping bag from your last grocery trip.

The Thank You Monster: Always say "thank you" to the person who gives you candy. Even if it's just a tiny piece of chocolate, a simple "thank you" shows that you're a polite little monster. Don’t make rude remarks that you don’t like the candy given.

The Zombie Shuffle: When you're walking from house to house, be mindful of your surroundings. Don't run or push other trick-or-treaters. Remember, you're not in a zombie apocalypse. A little courtesy goes a long way.

The Spooky Silence: Some people might be scared of costumes, so try not to scream or make loud noises. A gentle "trick or treat" is all you need to say. And if you're really feeling spooky, try a quiet, eerie whisper.

Teenagers, its never funny to Teepee your neighbor or to throw eggs at anything. Did you ever do that?

Get out of your cars and get out and walk with your kids! Its a great opportunity to meet your neighbors. (My parents would park and get out and walk with us)

Bonus Tip: If you're feeling extra generous, bring a small gift for the homeowners. A homemade card or a drawing can be a thoughtful gesture. Just make sure it's not a creepy clown drawing. That might scare them even more.

By following these spooky rules, you can be the most polite trick-or-treater on the block. Happy Halloween!

By avoiding these behaviors, kids can ensure that they have a fun and safe Halloween experience.

The idea of using a pool as a substitute for bathing might seem appealing on a hot summer day, but is it actually effective? Let's dive into the science and see why swimming in a pool might not be enough to keep you clean.

    Chlorine and Bacteria

While chlorine is a powerful disinfectant that helps keep pool water clean, it doesn't eliminate all bacteria. Some bacteria, particularly those that are resistant to chlorine, can still thrive in pool water. These bacteria can transfer to your skin and cause infections.

    Body Oils and Sweat

Swimming can actually increase the amount of body oils and sweat on your skin. These substances can mix with the chlorine in the pool water, creating a breeding ground for bacteria.

    Soap and Scrubbing

To effectively remove dirt, sweat, and bacteria from your skin, you need to use soap and scrub. Swimming alone doesn't provide the same level of cleaning as a shower or bath.

    Sun Exposure

Spending extended periods of time in the sun can lead to sunburn and skin damage. While a quick dip in the pool can provide temporary relief from the heat, it's important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays.

    Pee in the pool

    Conclusion

While swimming in a pool can be a refreshing way to cool off on a hot day, it's not a substitute for regular bathing. To ensure your personal hygiene, it's important to shower or bathe regularly, even after swimming. Additionally, protecting your skin from the sun is essential for maintaining good health.
