Robin Benedict 1983-Tufts Professor William Douglas was obsessed with a young women, It ended in murder Dec 19, 2021

Show notes

This case is one of a handful of cases that changed how police view street level victims of violent crime. Robin Benedict's fall from a normal life to a prostitute in Boston's combat zone, the city's red light district, was very quick. William Douglas was straight out of central casting for a nerdy professor. The balding, paunchy professor, fell in love with beautiful Robin Benedict. Streetwise Robin played this "John" for a sucker, however William Douglas didn't care. He embezzled $67,000 from Tufts University and Robin took every dime. Douglas just wanted Robin and when his stalking became too much for Robin to take. She wanted to break the relationship off, William responded by striking Robin in the head with a hammer multiple times. He confessed just before trial and only served nine years in prison before his release. A tragedy all around. Tune in and please give us a share if possible!

Pam Smart 1990-This case had everything the media requires, young love, Illicit sex, and murder Dec 12, 2021

Show notes

Pam Smart was highly educated with a handsome new husband and a career many would envy. She manipulated a fifteen year old boy into thinking she loved him. Naturally though there was only one obstacle. Pam's husband Greg. Pam asked young Billy to kill her husband and in typical teenage fashion, Billy told half of his social circle. Pam went to a school board meeting, but left her home's rear door open for her teenage lover and his dimwitted friends. Billy Flynn, Patrick Randall and JR Lattime conspired to commit murder. The conspiracy quickly crumbled. The trio served most of their lives in prison for this ambush home invasion-homicide. Pam Smart maintains that yes, she had an affair with a minor, but she did not ask Billy Flynn to kill her husband. She is serving a life sentence and will not likely, be paroled, if she maintains total innocence in this brutal crime.

In July 1973 Susan Petz and her boyfriend Daniel Porter wanted to beat the heat in Boston and explore the expansive Adirondack Mountains in New York. Susan was due to finish her journalism degree at Boston University in the fall. Daniel and some partners started a growing political polling company and had connections to the Kennedy campaign in Boston. The couple somehow stumbled upon Robert Garrow, a cunning and brutal serial killer, with the text book past, bestiality-animal cruelty, repeated and escalating sex crimes and an inability to tell the truth. This week we scored an interview with veteran journalist Jim Tracy who wrote the definitive account of this harrowing case, Sworn to Silence; The Truth Behind the "Missing Bodies Case" available at most book outlets. This book is a true page turner with, the largest police manhunt in NY state and a years planned, prison escape.
Robert Garrow, ultimately feigned a disability in order to be assigned to a medical hospital, he conned the entire prison administration, while planning his escape. This is a true story, however it is so frightening and compelling you'll wish it was fiction. Tune in to find out why law students still study this case today!
