We are a spoiler-free podcast — which means we’ve never read the books we’re discussing before. We have completed our coverage of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and are diving back into the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with Empire of Storms. Welcome back for another episode of the Booked on Fantasy Podcast! We are finally wrapping up Queen of Shadows with chapters 79-89.

The glass castle is shattered, Dorian and magic are free, and Chaol miraculously survived! While Aelin and the cadre sort out the aftermath of the clocktower mission, the Thirteen have one more mission of their own to complete - rescue Elide. With the unexpected help of Lady Kaltain, who decided she'd had enough of this world, Elide is freed and a third of Morath is blown up in the process. Last but not least, Aelin and her court finally return home after ten long years. All that and more in today's episode!

Buckle up everyone because you are in for a wild ride. Our beloved characters finally face the King, while battling to free magic across Erilea. But, of course, nothing goes as planned, and our heroes find themselves staring death in the face. But with magic unleashed and the strength of their bond, Dorian and Aelin combine their powers to shatter the darkness that once held the King captive. Queen of Shadows: Ch 57-64 Review & Analysis | The Fab 5's Rescue, Hello Princeling, & Asterin's Heartbreak Jan 09, 2025

Welcome back for another episode of the Booked on Fantasy Podcast! We continue this week with Queen of Shadows chapters 57-64.
It's time for the Fab 5 to rescue Lysandra, and surprisingly things go perfectly, that is until Chaol clutches defeat from the jaws of victory and goes rogue. In a misguided attempt to "help" Dorian, Chaol runs right into the the Thirteen. Aelin manages to talk Manon into letting Chaol go, but then fumbles hard and baits Manon in a fight so destructive it destroys an ancient temple. Even though Aelin could have gotten away relatively unscathed a loose thread of fate tugged her towards Manon. So she decided to tug back and saved her. Meanwhile things are not looking good for Elide as Vernon throws her in a dark cold dungeon cell. Elide knew no one was coming to save her. All that and more on today's episode!

Things go from bad to worse for the Thirteen starting with having to comply with the Duke's commands to slay an entire village of innocent people and ending with an intervention for Manon being interrupted when the Valg prince inhabiting Roland's body attacks. Things aren't going much better for our beloved heros. While searching for hellfire they learn a shocking secret that changes EVERYTHING. To top it all off a terrified Evangeline informs them that the King's men captured Lysandra and were taking her to Morath. Last but not least, all we have to say is DON'T SLEEP ON LADY KALTAIN! Welcome back for another episode of the Booked on Fantasy Podcast! We continue this week with Queen of Shadows chapters 28-34.
Rowan returns and he and Aelin have a joyous and steamy reunion, but only because the bathwater was hot. With Rowan's return came some BIG news, from who Aedion's father is to the reason for his return. Meanwhile Dorian is still enduring endless torture from being trapped with a Valg prince. In Morath, even Manon is left reeling after seeing Lady Kaltain covered in what we now know is shadowfire. Manon finally has had enough of being left out of the loop and so she commands Elide to spy for the Thirteen and figure out what exactly is going on with the Yellowlegs coven that was chosen to breed with the Valg.
