149. The Cape Cod Serial Killer - Part One Apr 20, 2020

Show notes

Patricia Walsh and Mary Anne Wysocki went to Cape Cod for a weekend away on January 24th, 1969. When they didn’t return home afterwards, their friends and family were very concerned. The police initially thought the girls had just taken off travelling on an adventure, as many young people were doing at the time.

The police had also failed to investigate the disappearance of other young women in the area for this reason. They didn’t realise until it was too late that they had a serial killer on their hands. All the murdered young women were last seen with 24-year-old carpenter, ladies man and massive drug pig Tony Costa.

148. Gentleman Brady and Vile Jeffries Apr 13, 2020

Show notes

Matthew Brady and Mark Jeffries were bushranger highwaymen in the wilds of Tasmania in the 1820s. Although they were both escaped convicts on the lam and being hunted by constabulary, they had little in common.

Matthew Brady was considered chivalrous, a man who used violence only in self-defence. Dubbed the Gentleman Bushranger, due his fine manners and his way with the ladies. Brady was charming and a little bit mischievous with a cheeky sparkle in his eye.

Mark Jeffries was not like Matthew Brady.

Beyond his dead eyed stare was an empty perverted soul who just wanted to watch the world burn, possibly while he had nonconsensual sex with it. Jeffries was a sadist, a ruthless killer, a sexual predator, a baby executioner and cannibal.

Both were being hunted by the notorious bounty hunter Batman… John Batman.

TCNT: Davis Rozkains discusses a new study sought to determine if it is, in fact, truly possible to hire a hitman on the dark web. We also reference the NY Times article. Read it in full here: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/04/technology/can-you-hire-a-hit-man-online.html

Aussie As: A 92-year-old Melbourne man drives his mobility scooter onto the free way and has choice words for a motorist who tried to stop him.

Show notes

This is Part 2 of Blood Oath: The Van Krevel Evil… if you haven’t listened to part one and you want anything we’re saying to make sense, go back and listen to Episode 146 before listening to this one.

One week before his trial for the murders of David O'Hearn and Frank Arkell, Mark Van Krevel levels accusations of sexual abuse against his father Jack for the first time. It's seen by many as a cynical ploy to reduce his culpability in the murders.

Although Jack says he was “hard on Mark” he denies the claims of sexual abuse. In a disturbed emotional state and believing whatever Mark's sister and his sort of girlfriend Belinda tells him, Mark's best friend Keith Schreiber spirals out of control and the consequences are deadly.

Show notes

In June 1998, the residents of the seaside city of Wollongong were shocked and horrified by the decapitation murder of local shop keeper, David O'Hearn. Two weeks later, another brutal mutilation murder was committed, that of former lord mayor and alleged paedophile, Frank Arkell. 135. The Boy is Mine and When Darren met Kevin Mar 22, 2020

Show notes

Previously a patron episode, now unlocked!

Teenagers Rachel Wade and Sarah Ludemann hated each others guts. They were both in what they thought was a relationship with a guy named Josh Camacho, who encouraged them to fight over over him. Their feud started on social media then escalated to threatening phone calls and culminated in a violent confrontation that would leave one of them dead.

A dispute over a fence line between neighbours, Kevin Skeyhill and Darren Lorke, escalated when punches were thrown. Alcohol and some covert surveillance exasperated the situation to the point where a fake gun and knife led to murder.

Bloody Murder Special Announcement March 2020 Mar 22, 2020

Show notes

Well Shit in bucket, what’s going on in the world?

Hi Everyone, this is Barney Black from Bloody Murder.

Unfortunately there will not be a regular new episode this week.

My co-host Tara Sariban has been sick in bed for a week with a nasty cold and has lost her voice...or rather I wish she had. She sounds like a phlegm filled croaking witch from the bottom of a very dark bog. Nobody needs to hear something that scary, especially in these trying times.

Don’t worry, it’s just a crappy cold.

We’ve actually been working hard all week writing and researching.

Our next episode will be a corking two parter!

In the meantime time, just to keep some bloody murder in your ears while you self isolate,

We have unlocked a previous patron only episode for today.

Episode 135 The Boy is Mine and When Darren met Kevin

We hope you enjoy it!

Wash you hands and your dirty pillows

And we’ll be back next week

With Part 1 of Blood Oath The Van Krevel Evil!

145. Voodoo Queen Josephine Gray Mar 16, 2020

Show notes

Considered one of very few female African-American serial killers, Josephine Virginia Gray's husbands and boyfriends had a nasty habit of being murdered after making her the beneficiary of their life insurance policies.

Those around her believed Josephine's claims that she was a voodoo queen and practitioner of black magic. Intimidated by her powers, they refused to testify against her, lest she put a curse on them causing them to wind up dead too.

TCNT: Helen Deakin reviews the band "The Madeline Rust".

Aussie As: A Brisbane man had himself a bit of a mischief when he laughed so hard at a joke he heard on breakfast radio that he crashed his car and knocked himself unconscious.

144. Darryl vs The Finks Mar 08, 2020

Show notes

Darryl Lewis was a small time crook who did a big time crime. This brought him to the attention of the Finks Motorcycle Club. The then president of the Beenleigh Chapter, Stephen Cranney was a man who would not tolerate the thieving of his beloved Harley Davidson motorbike.

In November 1996, eighteen very hairy and very pissed off bikers descended on Darryl Lewis' semi rural property in Queensland, like a lava rain from hell, determined to get the bike back and reap a terrible and bloody revenge.

TCNT: Tracey Stewart review the book "Forensics: What Bugs, Burns, Prints, DNA, and More Tell Us About Crime" by Val McDermid.

Aussie As: Violent scenes erupt as some Australian's respond to the Coronavirus outbreak by buying all the toilet paper, leaving the rest of us toilet paperless and wondering why the hell they're doing that.
