    Breaking News: Liverpool reverse controversial furlough decision Apr 06, 2020

    Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have reversed the controversial decision to furlough the club's non-playing staff. It was announced on Saturday that around 200 of the club’s workers were to be placed on the scheme that would see the government pay 80% of their salaries. Liverpool pledged to supplement the additional 20% to ensure no staff members was adversely affected by the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19. But the decision to use the job retention scheme put in place by the Conservatives was criticised widely criticised by supporters and by former players like Jamie Carragher. And now FSG have opted to perform a U-turn on their decision while CEO Peter Moore has written an open letter to supporters in which he says the club is ‘truly sorry’.     The Agenda: Liverpool's Controversial Furlough Decision Apr 05, 2020

    Following Liverpool FC's decision to furlough some staff during the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Guy Clarke and the ECHO's Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst talk through the implications of the decision. In furloughing some of their staff, the government will now pay 80% of a salaries, while the club have confirmed they will top-up the remaining 20%. From the announcement, the reaction the club have received and whether or not they could yet go back on their decision, all matters are looked at.     Road to Istanbul: Clive Tyldesley reflects on the Anfield night Hyypia and Luis Garcia shocked Juventus Apr 05, 2020

    Liverpool may well have been eliminated from the Champions League prior to football being suspended, but here on Blood Red we continue along the Road to Istanbul. Joining Guy Clarke and Dan Kay, as we look back on Liverpool's 2-1 quarter final first leg win over Italian giants Juventus is ITV and former Radio City commentator Clive Tyldesley. Clive shares his memories of the night, having been behind the mic for ITV as Sami Hyypia and Luis Garcia put the Reds into an early 2-0 lead on a raucous Anfield evening. Having covered Liverpool and Juventus' previous meeting, the 1985 European Cup Final at Heysel, Clive recollects the feeling prior to the game with this being the first time to two sides had met, almost 20 years on from the disaster that led to 39 people losing their lives.     Breaking News: Liverpool place some non-playing staff on furlough Apr 04, 2020

    Liverpool have taken the decision to furlough some non-playing club staff – but those affected will continue to be paid 100% of their salary. Furloughed staff will receive 80% of their salary through the government’s job retention scheme – with the Reds making up the difference.Fellow top-flight clubs Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur have also taken the decision to furlough staff after the Premier League was suspended following the coronavirus outbreak.     Liverpool Classics: Klopp's Reds stun Man City on march towards Kiev Apr 04, 2020

    On this day, just two years ago, Liverpool welcomed Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals. With the first leg taking place under the lights, the game was to be one of the classic European nights at Anfield. Weeks after the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, with Virgil van Dijk having arrived from Southampton in the same January transfer window, it was to be a breakout night for the Reds as they demonstrated the quality that's now become synonymous with the side. Join Guy Clarke, Paul Philbin and Matt Addison as they look back on the game, going back to when the draw was made, all the way through to the opening 31 minutes in which Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane's goals gave Liverpool a 3-0 lead, plus the context of the result with Klopp's side making their way to the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev.
