Blocked Party – Stefan Heck & John Cullen

Twitter Genius/Idiot Stefan Heck and comedian John Cullen invite guests on the program to talk about the who and the how of getting blocked on social media. From celebrities to jilted ex-lovers, every block has a story and we’re here to get to the bottom of it.

    Episode 46: Paul Bae v. A Twitter Troll Oct 07, 2019
    Show notes

Paul Bae (The Black Tapes, Marvels, The Big Loop) joins us for a block as old as time: a Twitter egg replies to you, you dunk on him for a few minutes, and then you get blocked. As far as old tales go, the Blocked Boys also waste no time getting to talking about their favourite topics, as John gives an update on his waxing and Stefan reveals that he cursed himself on the last episode in a totally unsurprising way. The three men don't just stop there, as we delve into Saturday Night Live, The Joker, local politician Rocky Dong, and John and Paul--a former teacher--swap stories about the funniest pranks they've pulled on students.

If you want more funny pranks, you can donate $5/month to the show at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5 now gets you THREE bonus episodes per month, as we reached the $5000 goal! That's right, baby: John is gonna smoke weed, and you get more of our very stupid content. Last month we were joined by the YKS boys for a Cameo episode and later this month, we're going to have another two VERY special guests join us for a Cameo episode you won't wanna miss. But first! This week, Bryan and Brett from Street Fight join us to break down the Fred Durst/John Travolta vehicle "The Fanatic". It's all happening! Our Patreon is the place to be.

Episode 45: Cait Raft v. Her Middle School Crush Sep 30, 2019
    Show notes

Cait Raft (JackAM, This Podcast is Self Care) created 30+ AIM accounts to profess her love for her middle school crush, ranging from posing as his best friend to blatantly creating accounts just for him, and he blocked 'em all! It's one of our wildest Block Tales yet and it makes sense as this episode goes absolutely and completely off the rails. The Blocked Boys get into all sorts of mess in this one, from Joey's World Tour farting on camera to the Bristol Stool Chart to the top 3 things that come out of our bodies. Not enough? We also go in on bad toilet auras, ass waxing, and Ed the Sock makes a triumphant return. The only wholesome thing in this entire episode is when John pays a Top Chef Masters champion, Chris Cosentino, to weigh in on Stefan's insane pizza take. So enjoy that. Who knows about the rest.

Speaking of wholesome content, you can find so much of it over at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, where every month we are producing TWO bonus episodes and some newsletters too! This month's bonus episodes were SPECIAL, as we were joined by Will Weldon for a Hell Block and just last week we released an all-Cameo bonus with Michael Hale and Jesse Farrar from Your Kickstarter Sucks. So many bad Cameos, so little time, and Joey from Joey's World Tour provides what Jon Hendren called, "the funniest 5 minutes of a podcast I've ever heard". If that's not an endorsement, nothing is.

Episode 44: Graham Wright v. Gary Janetti Sep 23, 2019
    Show notes

Graham Wright (Tokyo Police Club, Girlfriend Material, our theme song writer) joins us for a lot of firsts: the first time our theme song has ever been played live, the first cold open in the show's history, and the first time a Block Tale has been done IN REAL TIME, as Graham searches for someone to block and we find a very boring and mediocre Instagram personality as the target. Elsewhere, The BBs discover that John only really goes off the rails while recording in the morning, as we talk smashing windows, Badlands Chugs, the Santa Cruz Joker, McDonald's breakfast, and the anatomy of John's...well, anatomy.

If you wanna go off the rails at any time of day, you can do so by donating $5/month to the show at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, where you'll get TWO bonus episodes every month. This month, we have already had Will Weldon on to discuss Stefan's Bill Simmons block, and THIS WEEK we'll have another treat featuring your two favourite boys, Jesse Farrar and Michael Hale from Your Kickstarter Sucks, on to do an all-Cameo bonus episode with us, featuring the stupidest Cameo we've ever purchased. And if you know our Cameo episodes, that's an extremely high (low?) bar. It's gonna be good.

Episode 43: Josiah Hughes v. Mike Bullard Sep 16, 2019
    Show notes

Josiah Hughes (writer, blink-155 podcast) dips deep into the well of CanCon to discuss being blocked by a legendary Canadian talk show host about a matter of "chivalry". The Blocked Boys also look at the famous episode of Open Mike where Tom Green brings a dead raccoon on air, and mix in more Canadian references than you can shake a maple leaf at. Elsewhere, the BBs get into their various experiences with liquor store bootlegging, and talk Tom DeLonge impersonators, Gronk curing his own CTE, and MuchMusic legend Ed the Sock.

If you want to help us create even more Canadian content, you can do so at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5 a month gets you full access to TWO bonus episodes every single month. This month, we welcome another Canadian on the show, Will Weldon, to talk about the time Stefan got blocked by Bill Simmons, and we have another Cameo bonus episode coming soon with two VERY special guests. AND if that isn't enough, we also write a weekly-ish newsletter for those who don't need any more of our Canadian accents. It's $4 a month for those, or $8 if you want the newsies and the bonus episodes. Great deals, great times.

Episode 42: Andrea Jin v. Contest Voters Sep 09, 2019
    Show notes

Andrea Jin (comedian) tells us that she'll do just about anything for votes in a stand-up comedy contest, whether that means showing her body, face, or stringing along a guy from Miami. Also on the show, The Blocked Boys finally put a pin in the Jeremy Renner saga as Stefan (Mr. Heck, according to the New York Times) delivers the final update and John finds out what happens when you tell the Stop M app that you've just relapsed. Andrea fills the boys in on what the hell TikTok is, and Stefan goes truly wild with his stupidest opinion yet, the opinion that makes the "morning is not part of the day" controversy seem like a widely accepted opinion that everyone holds.

Want to do something uncontroversial? You could go ahead and donate to the show at https://patreon.com/blockedparty. For $5 a month, you'll get two bonus episodes, including the one we just recorded with Will Weldon due out this week, and one coming at the end of this month where we are joined by two VERY special guests for a Cameo episode you won't wanna miss. The BBs are also writing newsletters, and for $4/month, you can access those. You know, if you hate listening. $8/month em both! Avoid the hate and donate today!

Episode 41: Guy Branum v. Antoni Porowski Sep 02, 2019
    Show notes

One of the most requested guests in Blocked Party history, Guy Branum (comedian, author “My Life as a Goddess”) joins the show to help us learn why a man with a 6-pack should never be trusted to be a food critic. Speaking of food, John continues on his roll of terrible food critique, except this time he has to experience it live and in-person as he overhears one of the worst dinner conversations of all-time. Elsewhere, Stefan details his destruction of the Jeremy Renner app and Guy weighs in on Canadian politics, Stefan’s mustache and reveals why he had to delete Twitter this week. #boursin

If you have deleted Twitter, you may not know about our wonderful Patreon. You can find it at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5 a month gets you access to TWO brand-new bonus episodes every month. This past month, we did a mailbag and a special BOYS CHAT where Stefan and John sat down, sans guest, and rocked an episode. In September, we’ll be doing another very special Cameo episode with two VERY special guests you won’t wanna miss. So get into it! And if you hate hearing stuff, we have a weekly (ish) newsletter for $4/month with some great writing from Stefan and John. Plenty of reasons to let your favourite Blocked Boys know you love them.

Episode 40: Sophia Johnson v. Her Classmate Aug 26, 2019
    Show notes

Sophia Johnson (actor, comedian) is probably the first woman in history to get blocked for playing Magic: The Gathering with a guy her classmate had a crush on. He played an all-blue deck, so he was probably too controlling anyway. This episode sees the Blocked Boys get the lowdown on New Zealand's favourite soap opera (which Sophia acted on) and Stefan & John pitch their own ideas for a soap opera involving them. We also look at the fake Sophia who studied hieroglyphics, we check in on past guest Bryan Quinby from Street Fight Radio, and Stefan causes John an intense amount of emotional distress as John watches one of the worst videos in internet history. And finally, we announce our plans to land a big guest for Episode 50.

If you want to ward off emotional distress, a great way to do that is by donating to the show at http://patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5 a month gets you access to TWO bonus episodes. This month, we have a mailbag feature episode with Kyle Bottom, and we're going to be debuting a NEW bonus episode format THIS WEEK! Exciting. Stefan and John are also hard at work writing newsletters, which you can access by upping your $5 donation to $8, or by skipping the audio content altogether and donating $4. SO MANY THINGS! Donate today!

Episode 39: Kevin Banner v. Gene Simmons Aug 19, 2019
    Show notes

Kevin Banner (comedian) returns, this time on a regular episode, to tell us about the time he pissed off the lead singer of KISS and the Prime Minister of Canada in one fell swoop. Kevin and John get an up-close look at Stefan’s new weed pen as they discuss how close John is getting to that $5k Patreon goal of smoking weed for the first time and the Blocked Boys get all the details about Kevin’s divorce announcement. Elsewhere, we discuss jacking off at work, Gene Simmons’ sex tape, and this week it’s John’s turn to play an absolutely cringeworthy video.

You want something you won’t cringe about? Donate $5/month to Blocked Party at https://patreon.com/blockedparty, and you’ll get TWO bonus episodes a month, which this month includes our second mailbag installment with Kyle Bottom, and a future Hell Block coming up next week. This week, we also introduced our new NEWSLETTER. Every week or so, John or Stefan will write a newsletter and post it up for your reading pleasure. It’s $4/month for just the newsletter, or $8/month for the newsletter and bonus episodes. It’s educational, it’s personal, and it’s just a damn good time.

Vote for Kevin Banner to be Sirius XM's Top Comic at https://topcomic.siriusxm.ca/comic/kevin-banner!

Episode 38: Bobby Big Wheel v. Benny Johnson Aug 12, 2019
    Show notes

Bobby Big Wheel (internet funnyman) gets Stefan extremely excited for his Block Tale by getting blocked by Stefan's most hated man on the internet, Benny Johnson. This block also leads to an extremely fun revelation during the listener block segment, and we partake in one of the worst Ted Talks of all-time. The Blocked Boys also dive deep on getting hacked by ISIS, feral hogs, the fish tube, rewriting Christmas carols, and Tommy Lee borrows from Reddit in one of the most bizarre tweets of all-time.

If you'd like another way to kill the 30-50 feral hogs in your yard, you can do so by donating $5/month to the show at http://patreon.com/blockedparty. That donation gets you TWO bonus episodes per month, and this week we'll be releasing our first August bonus, a very special mailbag episode with fan favourite Kyle Bottom! We've also announced that once you donate $50 lifetime to the pod, we'll send you a snazzy T-shirt, which is pretty neat, and we're going to be announcing some brand new Patreon tiers this week with even MORE bonus content for YOU! Don't miss the fish tube, get over this dam and donate now!

Episode 37: Rachel Schaefer v. Her “Roommate” Aug 05, 2019
    Show notes

Rachel Schaefer (comedian) joins us to tell a story of how a close friend became an unwitting roommate after she asked to couch surf and then never left. Needless to say, the story doesn’t end well. The Blocked Boys don’t waste any time and give a crucial update on John’s elevator situation with some new information that might blow the case wide open. John also finally reveals the company he did a commercial for and Rachel gets into her own commercial history, while Stefan keeps us updated on children getting attacked by animals and John reads the worst wedding invitation of all-time.

If you’d like an invite that doesn’t suck, we’d like to invite you to donate to the Blocked Party Patreon at http://patreon.com/blockedparty. $5 a month gets you access to TWO bonus episodes every single month, PLUS our entire back catalogue of bonus episodes. What a value! This past month, we did our first-ever video bonus episode where we cooked a tuna-and-peas pizza and Stefan ate it, and we were joined for a Cameo bonus episode by Felix from Chapo Trap House. Your donation also gets you access to our top-secret Discord server AND once you donate $50 lifetime, you get a free shirt! What a deal! We told you the invite doesn’t suck!
