Our Dear Hawkeye Family -
If you follow us on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed that DC, Champ and myself haven’t participated in our usual amount of nonsense the past few days. Like most of you, we’re trying to sort through our many thoughts on where we are as a country and humans alike.. Like many of you, we do not have the answers, despite how much we wish we did. Unfortunately, discussing what Iowa players would win the Game of Thrones, interviewing athletes and other college sports personas, and arguing about quarterbacks and coordinators just doesn’t seem right or appropriate at this moment. There is a lot going on in our country, things more serious, more important than Iowa athletics and the greater college landscape as a whole. We know there are many opinions out there, and we are not a podcast that is going to tell you which of them are right and which of them are wrong. Rather, we are a podcast that chooses to favor the things that create a community of acceptance among black and white, men and women, friends, family, neighbors, humans.
We love interacting with you all on a daily basis. We love bringing you an hour or two of escape each and every week. But, for right now, we believe all of our time might be better served in reflection.
I think our future Heisman winner put it best this past weekend when he said, “Everyday, we live in a world where people of color feel threatened and it is 100% unacceptable. I can’t tell yall that I can relate in any type of way, but I can promise yall that I love and support yall above everything else. This isn’t an issue of religion, politics or anything other than Human Rights. We as HAWKEYES, and a family, are going to get through this together. Love you all.
Be safe. Talk with you all soon. On Iowa.
