    S4E3: Are You Stealing God's Glory? Sep 11, 2025
    Show notes

I’ve been thinking a lot about the ways we unintentionally rob God of His glory, and in this episode, I’m breaking down three of them.

Maybe you’ve found yourself taking all the credit, keeping quiet about your testimony, or even giving up too soon. I’ve been there too. But here’s the good news—God can use every part of our story to point back to Him. Join me as I walk through scripture and share encouragement to help us live in a way that truly gives God the glory He deserves.

S3E7 | Obedience is Better Than Sacrifice May 08, 2025
    Show notes

    Date: May 8, 2025

    Podcast: Black Girl Theology

Episode Title: S3E7 | Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice

INTRODUCTION:Good things are not always God things. What I mean is that just because something seems like a good opportunity doesn’t mean it’s what God wants us to do. We can sacrifice time, energy, and resources doing things God never told us to do. That’s why obedience is better than sacrifice.

In today’s episode, I talk about the story of a man who practiced partial obedience—sacrificing what he thought God wanted—and I share my own imperfect journey of striving for total obedience to God.

    S3E6 | Surrender Isn't a Feeling May 01, 2025

    Date: May 1, 2025

    Podcast: Black Girl Theology

Episode Title: S3E6 | Surrendering Your Feelings

    INTRODUCTION:

Our feelings are only information—not our guide. Sometimes, it can be easy to be led by our emotions, and that can get in the way of our obedience to God. In today’s episode, I reflect on what it looks like to turn to Scripture when my feelings try to take the lead. I open up about my own experiences with bringing my emotions to God and how He’s helped me process them in light of His truth, rather than letting them control my decisions.

S3E4: The Cost of Surrender Apr 18, 2025
    Show notes

    Date: April 18, 2025

    Podcast: Black Girl Theology

Episode Title: S3E4 | The Cost of Surrender with Ashtyn Washington

    INTRODUCTION:

On this Good Friday, we pause to reflect on the weight of what Jesus did. Not just His suffering, but His surrender.

In a world where strength looks like resistance, Jesus showed us a different kind of power: the kind that lays itself down in obedience to the Father’s will.

In this episode, we walk through Jesus’ journey from the Garden of Gethsemane to Golgotha, and what it truly means that He chose the cross. We’ll unpack the significance of His words, “Not my will, but Yours be done,” and how His surrender became the pathway to our salvation.

If you wrestle with surrender in your own life — letting go of control, trusting God in uncertainty — this conversation will meet you right where you are.

    Podcast: Black Girl Theology

Episode Title: S3E3 | Single and Surrendered: Trusting God with This Season with Brenaé Snowden and Ashtyn Washington

    INTRODUCTION:

Even though many of us desire marriage one day, it’s easy to take for granted the gift of singleness. We all have a call to be devoted to the Lord, and it’s in our singleness where we generally have the most capacity to do that.

In today’s episode, we’re talking with Brenaé Snowden about surrendering expectations and remaining hopeful that God is who He says He is in every season—specifically while we are both in seminary.

But before we get into it, let’s talk about our Black Girl Theologian of the week.

This week’s BGT is Jean Morrison. Jean is a devoted follower of Christ, a homeschooling mom, and a passionate student of God’s Word. She is currently pursuing her degree in Biblical Studies. Jean serves as the social media and website manager at her church, where she blends her love for ministry with her creative talents. She is also the founder of Her Hiding Place, a women’s ministry dedicated to equipping and encouraging women to live a life hidden in Christ. Through Bible studies, devotionals, and resources, Jean’s mission is to help women deepen their relationship with God, discover their true identity in Him, and live a life rooted in His presence.

    Date: April 9, 2025

Name of podcast: Black Girl Theology

Episode title and number: S3E2: Surrendered Timelines

    INTRODUCTION

Welcome back to the Black Girl Theology podcast.

In this season, we are talking about surrender and what it looks like to lay down, submit, and hand over our plans and our will to God.

We've all met that one person who seems to have it all together—the life we want, the career we want, the family we want. And even though we're genuinely happy for them, there's still that little voice in the back of our minds asking, "When is it going to be my turn?"

In today's episode, I share my own experiences with serving others while wrestling with that very question.

Watch the full episode to hear how I navigate this challenging dilemma—and how you too can discover what God might be trying to teach you during your seasons of serving and waiting.
