In this episode of BJ in the Morning, we put our movie knowledge to the ultimate (and slightly ridiculous) test — by quizzing each other on hilariously bad movie plot summaries from Reddit. From “space wizards fighting over jewelry” to “a fish gets lost and his dad commits oceanic war crimes,” these descriptions are so wrong they’re weirdly right.

Can you guess the film from a wildly inaccurate summary? Join us for movie trivia, comedy, and plenty of pop culture chaos in this ultimate movie guessing game for film fans. Perfect for lovers of funny podcasts, movie quizzes, and film trivia challenges

What the Force Happened With The Sequel Trilogy? (Bad Movie Summer Ep.2) Jul 09, 2025

Show notes

SEND US SOME FAN MAIL

In this episode of BJ in the Morning, we’re diving lightsaber-first into the chaos that is the Star Wars sequel trilogy — The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. What started with promise ended with… somehow Palpatine returned?

We talk about how switching directors mid-trilogy (hi JJ, bye Rian, wait—hi JJ again) made the story feel like a creative tug-of-war in hyperspace. No clear plan, weird character arcs, and way too many mystery boxes. Did Disney even watch the original saga?

If you’re a Star Wars fan who’s still confused, disappointed, or just here for the memes, this one’s for you. We break down each movie, compare them to the OG and prequels, and ask: did the sequels ever have a chance?

Topics we cover:

•Why The Force Awakens played it too safe

•The Last Jedi backlash (and hot takes)

•Rise of Skywalker and the return of… huh??

•The director shuffle disaster

•Did Disney drop the lightsaber?

Don’t forget to subscribe for more nerdy breakdowns, movie rants, and podcast chaos.
