Songs featured in this episode are: The Amazing: “Picture You,” The Sea & Cake: “Afternoon Speaker,” Magnolia Electric Co.: “At Least The Dark Don’t Hide It,” and Mission of Burma: “Peking Spring.” In addition, we discuss two new 2017 records we highly recommend: Chad Van Gaalen: “Light Information,” and Cut Copy: “Haiku From Zero.” Check us out on Spotify: Beyond The Pond Podcast Songs You can find us on Twitter: @_beyondthepond, Medium: https://medium.com/beyond-the-pond, and/or send us an email: beyondthepondpodcast@gmail.com. In Episode 014, we take stock of the final run of Phish’s Summer 2017 Tour with an examination of the 46 Days from the seventh annual Dick’s Summer Tour Finale. One of the underrated highlights from the weekend, this is a torrential, Trey-led, wha-induced, true hose jam. Songs featured in this episode are: Preoccupations: "Monotony," Silver Jews: "Suffering Jukebox," Miles Davis: "Sivad," and The Strangers: "Onye Ije." In addition, we discuss two new 2017 records we highly recommend: Tony Allen: "The Source," and Partner: "In Search of Lost Time." In First Impressions 002, we discuss The National's seventh LP, "Sleep Well Beast." One of our most anticipated albums of 2017, here The National abandon whiskey for the vape pen, and conjure up a plodding, late-nite record, while still retaining the elegant songwriting that we've always loved about them. Songs featured in this episode are: "Day I Die," "Empire Line," and "Carin At The Liquor Store." In Episode 013 we discuss one of the best jams from (perhaps) the best month in Phish history: the 12/14/1995 Halley’s Comet from Binghamton, NY. The first ever Type II version of Halley’s, here the band latches on to a number of hypnotic riffs, riding wave after wave to a crest before jumping into yet another before seguewaying flawlessly into NICU. Songs featured in this episode are: U2: "Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car," REM: "Undertow," and Pearl Jam: "Smile." In addition, we discuss two new 2017 records we highly recommend: Grizzly Bear: “Painted Ruins,” and Luke Elliott: “Dressed For The Occasion.” Check us out on Spotify: Beyond The Pond Podcast Songs You can find us on Twitter: @_beyondthepond, Instagram: beyondthepondpodcast, Medium: https://medium.com/beyond-the-pond, and/or send us an email: beyondthepondpodcast@gmail.com. In Episode 012, we discuss the peak jam from Magnaball, and one of the best jams from 2015: the 08/22/2015 Prince Caspian. Songs featured in this episode are: The National: "Little Faith," The Horrors: "Scarlet Fields," Radiohead: "Daydreaming," and Sleater Kinney: "Surface Envy." In addition, we discuss two new 2017 records we highly recommend: Golden Retriever: "Rotations," and Ron Gallo: "Heavy Meta."
