    Christ Compassionate Mar 08, 2015
    Show notes

Giving up is not the same as giving in. The former indicates a surrender born from frustration, the latter born from utter emptiness. Dr. Sams reviews a familiar story from Scripture and helps us remember God's compassion toward us. He desires eternal communion with His children. He will not end His pursuit of us - His love is extravagant. In that love, we may lose ourselves, but we gain Christ and His eternal glory.

Giving everything is really, really hard. We retain control of so much without ever thinking about what it means to let go. But there is no comparison to the freedom of allowing Christ to guide your life. He does not, and will not steer you wrong. Dr. Sams sheds new light on a piece of Scripture where faith meets trust and moves people into complete abandonment of control to God. That kind of surrender generates amazing stories - gospel stories. Wanna hear some? You need only click the little triangle. :-)

    Christ Compelled - Video Feb 22, 2015
    Show notes

Christ lived his life "in tune" with God the Father. No action was uninspired by this connection. Because he lived his life perfectly in tune with God's Spirit, he was compelled to certain actions reflecting the values of the kingdom. Sometimes those actions are aggressive, even violent, as Christ stormed through the temple, tearing down artificial barriers to God. Dr. Sams explores the love of God that compels Christ to actions that sometimes appear violent, but are in fact, meant to save lives.

Even in the Impossible Feb 15, 2015
    Show notes

Can God fix the impossible problems in your life? Of course He can. But a better question is: should He fix them? As broken people, we are prone to focus on the miracle instead of the miracle worker. Dr. Sams highlights the Exodus as an example of our tendency to lose focus of the main thing. But by Christ's work on the cross, we are relieved of our burdens. He who is able to work miracles, has control of our problems, and cares for us perfectly. Watch & hear Dr. Sams remind us of the good news. If we focus on Christ, we are free.

Even in the Caves Feb 08, 2015
    Show notes

In our greatest sorrow, we are not alone. In our loss, we are not abandoned. We sometimes place our trust in things destined to fail us. And so sometimes our "caves" are of our own designs. But in the midst of our greatest sorrows, God can do His greatest work. Dr. Sams reminds us how God comes through again and again. He is faithful to show up in the cave with us, to remind us how we are not alone, ever.

Even in the Hurt Feb 01, 2015
    Show notes

When we are hurt by someone, we typically respond either passively or vengefully. Neither way brings peace. The only satisfying way to respond to hurt is to draw near to God. When we do, a number of alternatives open to us. We can intercede for those sinning against us. We can surrender our right to judge them to God. We can ask for healing and/or restoration. This prayer reflex only happens when we abide in Christ and are filled by His Holy Spirit. Would you watch and hear Dr. Sams remind us how the Gospel helps us in one of life's most challenging tasks: dealing with hurt.
