How we respond to our broken world's tough questions greatly influences our life's path. Helping us to wrap up our tough questions sermon series, Rev. Kim Dorr-Tilley gives us the only meaningful answer to our tough questions: choosing life. If we sit with our tough questions forever, they will enslave us, and in effect, we choose death. No one does this on purpose, but we have all wrestled with (or will wrestle with) tough questions. It is easy to unwittingly choose to stay stuck, to sit forever, to choose death. But listen to this sermon and hear the good news. We don't have to be stuck. We can choose to rise. We can choose life. We can choose Christ: the way, the truth, and the *life*.

Mapping the Future - Video May 31, 2015

In his final sermon preached at Bel Air Presbyterian Church, Dr. Paul challenges us to update our "maps" with regard to following Christ. Some of our maps are so outdated, they are not only theologically incorrect, they create an avoidable misunderstanding and distaste for the church. Christ's map for us is Himself. Our relationship with Him transforms us, making our "maps" dynamic, always improving. Would you listen, and allow the Spirit to inspire your dreams about what the church could be? Let us not allow the Good News of Christ to be lost in the noise of the world's perception.

God, Why Haven't You Let This Happen? - Video May 24, 2015
    Show notes

We all want things. In fact, among all our desires, many can be counted as noble, God-honoring desires. Yet sometimes our desires are not brought to fruition. We wait, and wait, but God is in control, and sometimes chooses to leave our desires unfulfilled. Dr. Sams reminds us of the pitfall of conditional belief - deciding only to believe if God fulfills our desires. When we choose to believe regardless of our circumstances, we find peace in Christ. Watch, and see an interview with members of our own community choosing to believe, regardless of disappointment in the midst of a long wait on God.

God, What Should I Do? May 17, 2015
    Show notes

In the fifth sermon of our series "Sitting With The Tough Questions", Dr. Sams addresses the question most submitted to our leadership. What do we do with our lives? We are generally preoccupied with either making decisions, or avoiding them, pinning all responsibility on God. Yet scripture gives us a different outlook. As we fix our eyes on Jesus (as Zacchaeus did), Christ not only meets us, He dwells with us. Listen, and hear the good news: Christ is with us, and we need not struggle to figure out His plan. We need only make ourselves available to Him. As we relax into our relationship with God, His will unveils exactly how it's supposed to. And whether or not we see it coming becomes insignificant.

Why Did You Let This Happen to Me May 10, 2015

In the fourth sermon on tough questions, Dr. Sams again reminds us that Christ's best answers are His own presence. We're honored to have Jay & Katherine Wolf from our own congregation join Dr. Sams on the platform. The Wolfs have faced challenges more daunting than most of us will ever face. But the Wolfs have not looked for an answer. Instead, they have looked for Jesus. God has revealed Himself to Jay and Katherine in a way that their suffering is not just relieved by God, but felt by God. They have found solidarity in Jesus, and therefore compassion, a forever friend and brother, and ultimately, salvation from the brokenness they face every day. If you want to see God work through normal people to tackle insurmountable problems, you simply must watch.
