    Before You Know My Name

    WELCOME BACK!!

I’m so excited to share with you my new version of season 2 of Before You Know My Name – Tales from the Middle of an Actor’s Success… Before You Know Our Names – Tales from the Middle of Success. This season will still be the same format as the OG, ie.: A story per episode and lessons re-cap at the end, but now, I have guests who work in all facets of the Entertainment Industry. Costumers, Marketers, Influencers, Coaches, Actors, Casting Directors and more!

Season 1 was: Stories of the ups, downs and flat-out awkward moments from life as a middle-class actor. Host: Cassidi Parker opens up completely in a real-time and raw perspective, to recount a story each episode about the wins, mistakes and embarrassing life moments glowing up, along with dating and sex stories, while working towards making her mark on the entertainment industry.

The Failed "Girl with the Green Drink" Sep 23, 2020
    Show notes

Today's episode speaks about the magic of the universe! How it just aligns so perfectly and mystically sometimes and you just have to be patient enough and hustle enough and trust it enough to be able to see it. I take you from a moment when a hater tried to put me down because I was just "sitting there" on their roster and in just a matter of a few years I was working on amazing sets. Listen up if you're looking for a little inspo today!

This episode is brought to you by GEM. GEM is a subscription-based REAL ingredients only vitamin. Traditional vitamins have a supplement label while they have a nutrition label. Since GEM is made of food, they are regulated by the FDA and must declare every ingredient on the label. Supplement labels do NOT have to follow the same type of regulations and are able to label ingredients as "blends" to hide the chemicals and fillers. We get a surprising amount of nutrients from the foods we eat, and GEM is here to fill in what's missing. Since GEM is made of food and is 100% real, it absorbs and metabolizes more naturally within the body, ensuring you are actually absorbing the nutrients. Go to www.cassidiparker.com/GEM to sign up today.

"Oh, yikes, you're an actor...?" Sep 09, 2020
    Show notes

TIME OUT! Let's take a TO and have a few morsels of sort of random conversation. There's more of a mini story in this one, about how I got amazing health insurance by being an actor... but more of a conversation about standing up for yourself, whether you're an actor, or whatever you are! People's looks and comments can be like daggers in your heart if you haven't had enough experience yet dealing with standing strong. However, NO ONE will take you seriously until YOU do first, and that can take years... particularly in a town like LA or NY that is LITTERED with actors and creatives reaching for goals. Some people who aren't committed do "ruin" it for those of us who do work hard and are disciplined. However, we can't wait around for people to take us seriously, because even when we are making money or have cold hard evidence of being an actor, they still might not.

    Key takeaways:

    • Stand up for yourself, no matter what.
    • DO NOT wait for others to take you seriously.
    • DO WHAT YOU WANT!
    • Whatever profession you are, or want to be in, be disciplined, creative in your approach, determined and work hard and then just BE it. You are it, whether you're compensated or not.
    • If you're someone who asks actors what they've been in as the first question, it's time to re-think that. Let's think even just a little more outside the box and get to know the person better on the inside, as opposed to judging them from superficial tendencies.
    • YOU CAN EVEN GET GREAT HEALTH INSURANCE IF YOU'RE AN ACTOR!
    • Sometimes life really shows up for you in the most unexpected ways.

    NOLA or bust...uh, BUST Aug 26, 2020
    Show notes

Today, friends, I give you a story from a time when I was collecting credits where I could, so said I would be a local hire in The Big Easy! I took it as a vacation and work week, HOWEVER what it turned into was a week from hell. Join me as we go on a journey that just keeps getting more cringe-y every second.

    Lessons I learned from this:

    • BE SUPERRRRR CAREFUL ABOUT LOCAL HIRE STUFF!

    • DON'T TAKE SO MANY CHANCES WHEN TRAVELING FOR JUST ONE WEEK.

    • JUST LEAVE THE DOG IN LA

The Breakup Phoenix Aug 19, 2020
    Show notes

"Breakin' Up is Hard to do... " DON'T WE ALL KNOW IT! This story tells of how I handled a long-distance relationship with someone while still trying to be in LA Monday-Friday, and how the relationship ended. However, most importantly, I tell of how a moment of hurt/weakness from this life event, made me falter in my faith. Then, how life's mirror showed itself and made me dig my heels in deeper and decide to stay, and then what that meant for my near future after that decision.

Lessons learned from this momentous occasion:

    • LET IT GOOOO (yes, cue music)
    • Rock bottom, means you've only got up to go!
    • Everyone's mid-20's are a shit storm.
    • The universe will clear-out your life and take no prisoners if/when it needs to.
    • Your next success story might only be a month or two away!

    UCB Aug 12, 2020
    Show notes

It pains me to admit this, but as clear as the title is, this was a doozie…. Doing a show at UCB for more than six months, and applying for us to get into the largest sketch festival in the world, gave me a sense that I was helping the group move forward, when really I took a huge step back. Here to freely admit I have tons of flaws and mistakes like everyone else!

    Lessons learned from this moment:

    • Accept my mistakes and flaws.
    • Forgive myself as quickly and as simply as possible, always.
    • Sleep overnight on every email.

How I Turned Dark, to Light Aug 05, 2020
    Show notes

How a moment of complete darkness turned into a much-needed opening up of me and therefore let the light, that I so desperately needed at the time, peak through. This story is a throwback to my time in college and auditioning for my first professional show as a young adult.

    Lessons learned from this moment:

    • Trust my intuition like my life depends on it, because it does.
    • Getting to see first hand at a young age that I did every single thing that I could, and in the end this should have been mine, but in a different world.
    • If I'm not processing grief or hardship, when another comes along I won't be able to handle it because I'm already too backed up.

Black Lives Matter Edition Jul 29, 2020
    Show notes

I thought it wise to add in my story here, during this movement, of how race was introduced to me at ten years old as an actor. This story features a moment where I was told I didn't receive something because a person of color did instead, and how damaging that can be to our society as a whole; no one wins with that mentality.

Easy links to some resources I've used/taken action on, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement:

Graphic artist, Jessika Savage is donating all proceeds for this shirt/sticker design to the ACLU:

    Louisville, KY major's e-mail:

*demand justice for Breonna Taylor's murderers

Phone numbers and e-mail addresses for Los Angeles City Council members:

    https://www.lacity.org/government/popular-information/elected-officials/city-council

*demand they work with the mayor to defund the LAPD (this doesn't mean take away their money in it's entirety)

Make art, because the people who died can't anymore. My example has some names of people of color, who identified as members of the LGBTQA+ group, who were murdered, simply for being themselves:

I promised JUICE! And here's a taste...Here I delve into a night in my life that I'm not too proud to talk about, but should be hilarious for you. My friends tell me this story is their most favorite to hear, and even one of my friends tells it at parties. NSFW or kids, or the faint of heart. Let's do it!

    Lessons learned from this moment:

    • Don't do any of this, ever again...

How I said NO to a Former Agent Jul 21, 2020
    Show notes

Here I tell about a key moment where I decided to choose what I wanted for my life, and let go of what I didn't want; which ironically, in turn gave me what I "didn't want." This is a DRAMA story if you've ever heard one and I hope it leaves you feeling empowered.

Lessons I learned from this moment:

    • Follow my heart no matter what.
    • Don't only trust one source.
    • Let go of anything that might be holding me back from what I really want.

TRUST me, you don't want to spend your time and money on making a great film/pilot/whatever without a good script consultant! It's one of the most important things to do in finalizing a fantastic script. Go to www.cassidiparker.com/wefix and get your free consultation with a script consultant. I can't recommend this enough.
