We have a very special episode tonight. It's one of my favorite weekends of the year. We get to focus on and remember the incredible sacrifice that our Savior made for us. What a mixture of emotions. Intense sadness for the pain and agony he went through. It's really tough on my heart to hear that part. But imagine the JOY on Sunday. He is RISEN!

We are reading the following: Luke 22:1-6, Matthew 26:17-29, Luke 22:31-71, Luke 23, Luke 24:1-12, Matthew 28:11-15, Luke 24:13-49, Mark 16:19-20, and John 21:25.

Nehemiah and the Great Wall - Part 2 Mar 18, 2024

Show notes

We continue the story of Nehemiah and the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Thank you to my mother for suggesting this story! There is a big celebration. The Israelites are confessing their sins and promising to follow the Laws of Moses and of God. They are feasting and singing. But then, Nehemiah leaves, and it seems like everything crumbles. Listen to what happens when he returns.

We are reading Nehemiah 7 through 13.

Nehemiah and the Great Wall - Part 1 Mar 03, 2024

Nehemiah was known for his strong faith in God and his devotion to his Jewish heritage. When he heard of the damage in Jerusalem, he was very concerned about the Jewish people and the city itself. He received God's calling to oversee the rebuilding of the city walls. This story shows us the incredible impact that one person can have.

We are reading Nehemiah chapters 1 through 6.

King Hezekiah Feb 12, 2024

Show notes

Becoming king at the young age of 25, Hezekiah did what was good and right before the Lord. He was quite the opposite of his wicked father, King Ahaz. He reopened the temple and destroyed any existing idols, and he faithfully kept the commandments that the Lord gave to Moses.

We are reading 2 Kings 18 through 20.

The Story of Samuel Jan 29, 2024

Show notes

Can you imagine giving away your child to serve in the temple forever? Hannah wanted one so desperately that she was willing to make that promise to God. And thank goodness she did! The current priests were immature and disrespectful. But Samuel heard the call of God... and answered.

We are reading 1 Samuel chapters 1 through 3.

A World Gone Wrong Jan 14, 2024

Show notes

The world's first murder. Is anyone else shocked at how soon this happened? I certainly am. How much grief Adam and Eve must have felt. Although the Bible doesn't go into detail, things go downhill after that, and the world becomes so wicked that God regrets having made mankind. This is an account of the events following "In the Beginning" and preceding "Noah and the Ark."

We are reading Genesis 4, 5, and 6:1-7.

Saul of Tarsus Jan 01, 2024

Show notes

In recognition of the New Year, I wanted to tell a story about new beginnings. This is the story of one of the most powerful transformations in the Bible. Saul of Tarsus was born somewhere between 5 BC and 5 AD. He walked this earth the same time as Jesus, but never met him in person, and went on to become a well-known Pharisee. He mercilessly persecuted followers of Jesus, until a dramatic confrontation with God changed his life forever.

We are reading Acts 8 and 9.

Daniel the Faithful (feat. the Lions' Den) Dec 19, 2023

Show notes

If you heard the Fiery Furnace episode, now we are reading the next three chapters of Daniel--4, 5, and 6. They are really three separate stories in one, with three separate kings. Two involve interpretation and the last one, a huge test of faith. It's incredible, the faith that Daniel had.

We are reading Daniel 4 through 6.

The Healing Power of Jesus - Part 2 Nov 29, 2023

Show notes

The long-awaited part 2 is finally here! Friends, my health kept me from being able to finish this episode earlier. Ironic, right? But God is good, and it's here. I tried to make the parts equal in length, but as you can see, I was not successful. Some of the stories in part 2 are longer. And the last story finishes it off with a bang! Jesus knows how to wow us and bring glory to God!

We are reading several passages from the Gospels.

The Healing Power of Jesus - Part 1 Nov 13, 2023

Show notes

All of the Bible stories are excellent, but I felt like we needed some JESUS in our lives. So many of us are suffering from health issues, and it can be very discouraging and lonely. Let's get some encouragement and fill our minds with some of Jesus' miraculous healings. One of my favorite healing miracles is in this episode, and I'm so excited for you to hear it! I've been focusing on it throughout my own healing journey. I'll tell you which one it is in the intro to part two.

We are reading different parts of Luke and John.
