    Be Impactful by Impact Fashion

Hi, I’m Rivky Itzkowitz I’m the founder and designer at Impact Fashion and I’m the host here at Be Impactful, the show about women making an Impact in their own corners of the world. I started Impact Fashion in November of 2016 so that the modest minded women in my community could feel empowered to put their best foot forward every day, regardless of their size. In the process of growing my business I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with women of all different types and from all different fields. And the main lesson I’ve learnt is that we are all just improvising. We’re going around doing the best we can with what we’ve got, feeling self conscious about what everyone else is accomplishing. The truth is, the people who you’re looking over your shoulder at are probably doing the exact same thing to someone else.
So let’s talk about the real nitty gritty in our lives and journeys and lift each other up by being just a bit more open. Join me and my guests as we try to figure out what it means to Be Impactful.

Community Power with Keshet Starr, Esq. Mar 06, 2023
    Show notes

I sit down with Keshet Starr, the CEO of ORA to discuss how her work has changed in the 2 years since #freechava. We discuss a specific case happening now in Bergen county, the line between tough negotiator and get refuser, how this all gets even tougher when you know the parties involved and how using a get as a bargaining chip leads to worse outcomes for everyone.

Keshet Starr, Esq., is the CEO of the Organization for the Resolution of Agunot (ORA), the nonprofit organization addressing the agunah (Jewish divorce refusal) crisis on a case-by-case basis worldwide. At ORA, Keshet oversees advocacy and early intervention initiatives designed to assist individuals seeking a Jewish divorce, along with prevention initiatives to eliminate abuse from the Jewish divorce process. Keshet has written for outlets such as the Times of Israel, The Forward and Haaretz, and frequently presents on issues related to Jewish divorce, domestic abuse, and the intersection between civil and religious divorce processes. Keshet has also authored academic work focused on get refusal and domestic abuse, and is a Wexner Field Fellow. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Keshet lives in central New Jersey with her husband and children.

I sit down with accidental activist Shoshanna Keats Jaskoll to discuss her work. Raze to Rise with Sara McElroy Feb 06, 2023
    Show notes

I talk with journalist Sara McElroy about her career. She shares how overwork and a toxic work environment led to an amount of stress her body couldn't handle, changing her whole life only to end up in another toxic work environment, snd how both of those experiences led her to look more into why women especially were leaving their jobs and collecting their stories.

Sara McElroy is a former hustle culture devotee, ex-chief marketing officer, the Wall Street Journal's poster girl for pandemic career burnout, and a two-time member of the Great Resignation: class of 2021 and 2022. Following a stress-induced shingles diagnosis in early 2021, Sara decided to hit the reset button on her life; she quit her hard-won CMO job and relocated from the buzzy metropolis of Atlanta to the beach in South Florida for a new job and a fresh start. But she once again encountered deeply ingrained cultural issues in her new role, and ultimately, she walked away again. Finding herself in the company of millions of other women who also set unfulfilling jobs ablaze during the Great Resignation, she returned to her journalism roots and began to explore the stories, breaking points, and defining moments that led women to seek greater opportunity mid-pandemic. These conversations became the genesis of Raze to Rise – an organization created to amplify women's voices from the Great Resignation and inspire others to blaze new trails in their own careers.

Stand In Your Worth with Chelsea Bear Jan 30, 2023
    Show notes

I sit down with Chelsea Bear, a disability advocate with cerebral palsy, to talk about her life. She shares how she feels about people looking at her funny, the importance of language when it comes to talking about disabilities, and what body acceptance looks like with a disability.

Chelsea was born and raised in South Florida. When she was eight months old, her mom began to realize she wasn't sitting up like the other babies in her mommy and me class, which led to years of doctor visits, MRI's, cat scans, X-Rays and more. At the age of three, Chelsea was officially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Today, Chelsea uses social media to share her first-hand story of living with Cerebral Palsy. Her content is comprised of educational, fun and lighthearted posts that strive to create acceptance and awareness for people with disabilities. She's certainly no stranger to adventure and aims to live her life to the fullest. Some of her favorite pastimes include traveling, learning adaptive exercises, writing, going on walks, drinking red wine, spending time with family and friends, and much more!
