Be Here For A While — Comedy
Be Here For A While

Rachael O’Brien is a stand-up comedian/actress who has performed in 9 countries all over the world doing stand-up. Her self deprecating humor is at the center of the weekly show. On each episode, Rachael dissects the comedic moments in the lives and careers of her friends and notable entertainment industry personalities. She enjoys interviewing talent about their personal struggles and successes, learning more about tips and tricks on how to live a happy and successful life, diving into (and sarcastically analyzing) dating and relationships, and through all this, she loves giving her listeners weekly inspiration to reach their goals — or at the very least give them some laughs to get them through their day. O’Brien’s flourishing comedy career includes doing stand up worldwide in the most prominent comedy clubs and sharing the stage all-star comics including David Spade, Ali Wong, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings and Judd Apatow, to name a few! You can also follow and listen to her two other podcasts that delve into the world of True Crime, “Deadly Diocese” which is the active investigation into the mysterious death of a Catholic priest, just days before he was about to expose the Diocese of Buffalo for their sins….and then…. “Seven Deadly Sinners” which runs the gamut of cult leaders, to false preachers, to murderers all hiding under the false pretense of saints when they are masking their sinful lives.

194: Conspiracy Theories & More w Chelsey Weber-Smith! Jan 16, 2020

Show notes

Chelsey Weber-Smith is the host of Rachael's new favorite podcast, American Hystertia. It might be safe to call this podcast a new obsession for Rachael, as she binge listened to the entire catalog of episodes in less than a week. American Hysteria is a podcast that explores the moral panics, conspiracy theories, and fantastical thinking of American culture from the puritans to the present.Chelsey uses history, sociology, psychology, and even biology to try to get at the heart of why we fear the wrong things and how the long history of these fears inform our current politics and culture. On the show, Chelsey examines in detail the lost oddities of America history, how race, gender, class, and sexuality have molded our beliefs, and how these themes have been continuously expressed and spread through pop culture and the media. From the Satanic Panic of the 1980s, the conspiracies around the Gay Agenda and the Illuminati, to our obsession with Stranger Danger and Poison Halloween, and much more. Chelsey also looked at our long term beliefs in Mind Control, Quackery, and the ability to Talk to the Dead, as well as the Toy Riots that rocked the nation when Beanie Babies and Tickle Me Elmo caused brawls in the street.

192: There IS Honor Among Thieves- PART 2 Dec 26, 2019

Show notes

Happy Holidays friends!
This is the second part of a two part episode of an incredible story and person I came across. If you haven't already, please go back and listen to last week’s episode so this episode will make the most sense. Before I continue with the interview, I need to offer a trigger warning that the story covers some very sensitive topics and should not be listened to around children.
And now back to Matthew Hahn and the web of many different people’s stories and lives that were changed the night he stole a safe from a Bay Area home.
Special thanks to Greg Hunter and Walter Burke for taking the drive to San Jose with me and for Greg's production and editing.
