    Show notes

Bayern Munich’s game against Union Berlin was snowed out last weekend, but the Bavarians will return to action on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt in a key Bundesliga showdown.

Sitting in seventh place, Eintracht Frankfurt is eager to vault itself into the top-six position in the table, which could happen if Die Adler can find a way to knock off Bayern Munich.

This version of Eintracht Frankfurt does not quite have the star power of some recent versions of

Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 3, Episode 21 — Why is Bayern Munich scuffling (but winning) right now?; Is Florian Wirtz a player Bayern should invest heavily in?; and MORE! Nov 30, 2023
    Show notes

It has been a bit of a crazy week for Bayern Munich.

There was a boring win, followed by a more boring draw, but there was a whole of news in between, so in short, we have plenty to discuss.

Let’s take a look at that is on tap for this episode:

    • Why is Bayern Munich struggling right now. Is it Thomas Tuchel’s fault? Are the players underperforming? Is the squad flawed? Maybe...maybe not, but there is some reason to think it is bound to look better soon.
    • Does this version of Bayern Munich have a poor mentality?
    • Bayern Munich has been closely linked to Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz and could be the leader in the clubhouse to land the star....but does it make sense? Is he worth it? Let’s discuss.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. Union Berlin (Bundesliga) Nov 30, 2023
    Show notes

The Bundesliga action is back for Bayern Munich this weekend as the Bavarians will take on Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena.

For the Bavarians, a win is needed to keep pace with red-hot Bayer Leverkusen, the table-toppers in the league. Meanwhile, Union Berlin has had a putrid season, so far, and is in desperate need of a reboot to get back on the right track.

Desperation, however, might not be enough for Die Eisernen as Bayern Munich will undoubtedly be looking to shake off the cobwebs from an unfortunate midweek draw with FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Let’s take a look at what is on tap for this episode:

    • A rundown of where each team in the standings and look at the recent form of the clubs.
    • A guess at what Thomas Tuchel might be thinking for his starting XI.
    • A prediction on the match.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 0-0 FC Copenhagen (Champions League) Nov 29, 2023
    Show notes

Bayern Munich and FC Copenhagen battled to a 0-0 draw in the Champions League in a game that no one really seemed to put much effort into.

For the second consecutive match, Bayern Munich did not have too much pep in its step. The Bavarians had trouble getting going offensively against the compact and conservative approach from the Danish side.

It would have been nice to Bayern Munich find a way to breakthrough FC Copenhagen. but it was not meant to be on this day. Let’s just get down to it...this is what we have on tap for this podcast:

    • A look at the starting XI and what Tuchel did differently in this match.
    • A rundown of the scoring, err, substitutions — what did you think about the non-handball call?
    • Some thoughts on why the game was sooooo boring and a reminder that Manuel Neuer is the best in the business.
    • Where does Bayern Munich from here?

Bavarian Podcast Works S6E20: Is Thomas Müller on his way out at Bayern Munich? + Copenhagen UCL preview Nov 27, 2023
    Show notes

With recent flagship episodes pushing the hour mark more often than not, it was time to have a shorter episode to bring some variety to proceedings. This is not to say that things at Bayern Munich were uneventful in the last week or so — there was plenty to talk about with Thomas Tuchel making some odd choices in the game against FC Köln.

In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:

    • Was Thomas Tuchel sending a message with his lack of substitutions at Köln?
    • The problem with putting results over performances.
    • Why Thomas Müller seems like he’s on his way out at Bayern Munich.
    • How will Tuchel line up versus Copenhagen in the Champions League this week?
    • Why Leroy Sane is in desperate need of some rest.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 1-0 FC Köln (Bundesliga) Nov 24, 2023
    Show notes

A Friday night tilt after an international break against a desperate opponent could have been disastrous for Bayern Munich, but like they have done so many other times this season, the Bavarians fought through some uneven play on both ends of the pitch to claim a 1-0 victory.

Let’s take a look at what is on tap for this episode:

    • A gander at Thomas Tuchel’s odd starting XI and what that might mean for some of the players, who were passed over in favor of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
    • A public service message that you do not need to watch this mess.
    • A rundown of the scoring (LOL) as Harry Kane just keeps producing (even though he sometimes appears to be an afterthought in the attack.
    • Steffen Baumgart will likely get sacked soon, but he has nothing to work with. That said, he had his team prepared and they fought hard. This really just a Billy Goats team that lacks talent.
    • Some final thoughts on Bayern Munich as the team heads into the stretch run of the Hinrunde.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 3, Episode 20 — Germany is a complete mess and we need to talk about it; A preview of Bayern Munich vs. Köln; Transfers for Müller & Sané; + MORE Nov 22, 2023
    Show notes

What a mess of an international break that way.

Germany is a disaster under Julian Nagelsmann, but at least Bayern Munich is coming back this weekend. Given all of that, there is plenty to talk about, so let’s get to it. Here is what is on tap for this week’s episode:

    • Assessing why Germany is a clown show these days (Hint: The answer is pretty simple).
    • Looking at why Julian Nagelsmann cannot help himself and is proving all of his critics right.
    • Break out the torch, it is time to light some folks up.
    • A preview for Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln.
    • Transfer rumors on Bayern Munich stars Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané.
    • What to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving season.

Bavarian Podcast Works S6E19: Recapping another German humiliation vs Turkey + What did Julian Nagelsmann get wrong? + Is Alphonso Davies going to leave Bayern Munich? Nov 19, 2023
    Show notes

Yes, we are a Bayern Munich podcast, but after the latest humiliation we simply have to focus on Germany this week. Losing 3-2 to a Turkish B-team is a new low, and we’re only three games into the Julian Nagelsmann era. Where was the free flowing football? The attacking concept? The tactical philosophy? It seems like the coach has fallen into the experimentation trap he experienced at Bayern Munich, where he didn’t know when to stop tinkering.

In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:

    • What was Julian Nagelsmann thinking with THAT lineup? Kai Havertz at left-back, really?
    • Everything that went wrong for Germany, from offense to defense, the midfield, and individual performances.
    • Why do coaches keep making the same mistakes when taking over the at the DFB?
    • The curious case of İlkay Gündoğan and the major issue with Joshua Kimmich.
    • The problem with Germany that no one seems to talk about — a culture of mediocrity and assumptions.
    • Where does Nagelsmann go from here?
    • What will happen at the Euros?
    • A token amount of Bayern Munich discussion — what is going on with Alphonso Davies? Will he go to Real Madrid?
    • Why losing Davies would be devastating to Bayern in the long term.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 3, Ep 19 — Bayern Munich’s upcoming slate; Robert Lewandowski vs. Harry Kane; What fans need to see from Germany; Kimmich as a No. 6?; + MORE Nov 16, 2023
    Show notes

Ahead of the EURO 2024 competition, yet another international break is upon us.

Bayern Munich players are spread out globally to represent their respective national teams, but that does not mean that there is not a lot to talk about with both the Rekordmeister and the boys representing Germany:

    • Registering a formal take on the hotly-contested Harry Kane vs. Robert Lewandowski debate.
    • The curious story leaked by Bild that indicates Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann will not be using Joshua Kimmich as a right-back.
    • What to expect from Germany’s upcoming games and what are some realistic expectations.
    • Looking at Bayern Munich’s upcoming slate of games.
    • The latest news on Alphonso Davies and his potential transfer — as Real Madrid, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain all circle.
