Free Agency Primer Mar 11, 2021

Show notes

What's up everyone? The guys are back in studio on this fine Thursday to discuss a hot topic on everyone's mind as near it's official opening date: Free agency. Plenty of free agency news has already come across the wire, and some of it even pertains to the Ravens, a team who isn't always the most active come this time of year. Things may be different this year though, as Baltimore has some needs to fill and would like to do them as the window on Lamar Jackson's rookie deal is set to close within the next year or so. With that, Jake and Spencer figured they'd give you guys the primer for it to get you ready for the positions Eric DeCosta and the front office may want to address and how they'll do it. They did so by looking at the team position by position and pointing out many of the different options that are available on the market for the team to go and sign. It's a comprehensive, hour long deep dive that hopefully will provide you guys with plenty of info, and in that respect, we hope you really enjoy it. In the meantime, stay tuned for Tuesday's episode as the Beatdown Big Board rolls on - the boys will be looking at the tight end position on that edition. Thanks for listening in the meantime, and we'll talk to you then!

Beatdown Big Board: EDGE Mar 09, 2021

Show notes

What is up everyone? We hope you guys are excited for something new and something fun on today's show, the debut of our new draft related series "Beatdown Big Board." Each and every week, Jake and Spencer are hopping in the studio to bring you all the 2021 NFL Draft deep dive that you want and deserve. Approaching it from the perspective on two guys that take a crash course on the position and then review the players through the lens of an archetype they decide on, the guys take a look at who they like, who they may rather pass on, and group together good fits for the Ravens. At the end of each show, they'll narrow down their favorites to four guys that they like as the "perfect" prospect for the Ravens at that position, and shoot out a poll that allows you (the listener) to vote on. The top two at each position will eventually be seeded into a tournament just ahead of the draft to decide on the Ravens final "perfect" prospect to take. We're expecting this to be an extremely fun and interactive process for you guys to join us on, and think that today's deep dive on the EDGE position will be a good first primer on it all. Without further ado, please enjoy, and we'll talk to you again very soon!

JudonGate Feb 25, 2021

Show notes

What's up everyone? The boys are back in studio this week to discuss a whirlwind of Ravens and league news on what should otherwise be a fairly dead period on the NFL calendar. To kick things off they analyzed yet another loss on the Ravens coaching staff in running backs coach Matt Weiss (and take a look at his replacement Craig Ver Steeg), and also some new faces entering the mix in the analytics department. The fellas then discuss the news that Ben Roethlisberger will be returning to the Steelers and what that news means for the rest of the AFC North (Spoiler alert: they're not too concerned). They finally dive into what everyone is here to talk about which is all the happenings on Ravens Twitter these days between various different players, starting with Willie Snead and Dez Bryant's comments which many speculated to be targeted shots at Greg Roman. This of course was all capped off by a bizarre spat between Matt Judon and ESPN reporter Jamison Hensley which they dive into as well. What a week... and it's not even Friday. Regardless, we hope you guys enjoy and we'll talk to you again next week!

After that, we've got a free wheeling mailbag where we touch on your questions, that can be about anything this time of year (and really anytime of year, we won't judge). Tonight's will include some draft talk, free agency chatter, fast food rankings, and a ton more. We hope you guys enjoy and will talk to you again on Monday.

John Feinstein Feb 16, 2021

Show notes

What's up everyone? Jake here, bringing you a little bit of a different episode for today. Upon recently re-reading the excellent book "Next Man Up" by John Feinstein (@JFeinsteinBooks), I decided to reach out to John to see if he'd be interested in joining me to talk about it, and he graciously agreed to do so. For any who aren't familiar, the book is a chronicling of the 2004 Baltimore Ravens season from the perspective of players, front office executives, and owner Steve Bisciotti. John gets into how he initially made contact with Bisciotti, what his process was like in terms of preparing to follow and document an NFL team's entire season, loads of insight on players, coaches, and figures from that team that you may not have heard before, and much more. I'd highly recommend reading the book, but even if you haven't, this is a great listen that will educate and entertain anyone who like to look back on Ravens history. With all that said, enjoy, and have yourselves a great week. We'll talk to you again very soon!
