Brenden Schaeffer discusses Monday's Cardinals 4-1 loss to the Padres as the lineup once again fell flat, failing to support Adam Wainwright in his best start of the season. With his 42nd birthday a day away, Wainwright is still stuck on 198 career wins.
In this episode, Brenden dives into discussing the criticisms of the St. Louis Cardinals coaching staff that have permeated the fan base this year. How much blame should Dusty Blake and Turner Ward wear for the things that have gone so poorly this year for the team?
Plus, Adam Wainwright speaks on facing Matt Carpenter.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the dismal weekend by the St. Louis Cardinals in Philly and tackles the common trope being thrown around lately regarding the team's performance: Knowing where they are at this stage of the season, have the Cardinals started mailing it in?
Oli Marmol has historically pushed back against the notion that effort is not being given by his team, and he mentioned the concept again in Sunday's postgame.
Brenden is actually inclined to agree with the St. Louis manager on this topic, too, as he articulates why it's perhaps not so sensible for fans to immediately jump to the 'effort' accusations. BUT, Brenden also explains that if it's not effort lacking for the team (especially offensively during a stretch that has seen just 25 runs over its last 11 games), then there are some sincere conversations that need to be taking place regarding the recent execution of the club at the plate.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses Miles Mikolas after his latest loss for the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night in Philadelphia. The Phillies beat the Cardinals, 7-2. Mikolas is 0-4 in August and has his highest season-long ERA since joining the Cardinals. After turning 35 this week, it begs the question of how much the Cardinals should reasonably be relying upon Mikolas to be great in 2024. Should they stock a rotation that leaves Mikolas as one of the latter names in the group of five--or will he be pushed toward the front of the rotation again next season?
Plus, the Cardinals have a prospect in Double-A who is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. He did it again Friday, perhaps cementing himself as the best hitter in all of the Texas League at this point.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses Adam Wainwright's performance in the 6-3 St. Louis Cardinals loss to the Pirates on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Wainwright gave up six runs in a game that looked like another total clunker if you only looked at the box score. If you watched it, though, did you notice that anomalous way in which it all came tumbling down? Does it even matter to you anymore? Give Brenden's thought process a listen before throwing out and ugly comment... B-Schaeff is going no holds barred on ignorance today. Consider this your warning to hear him out before commenting. Once you do, though, let me know your thoughts on everything going on with Waino and the Cards. Patreon: Patreon.com/bschaeffer12
Brenden Schaeffer could not stand to recap Monday's 11-1 loss to Pittsburgh so he took to Twitter to ask for topics to discuss on the podcast. Cardinals fans came through, providing interesting questions and topics that led to a deep dive on some big-picture angles pertaining to the team.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals' 7-3 win over the Mets from Sunday as Dakota Hudson delivered his second seven-strikeout performance over his last four starts. What's the common thread connecting those outings? It's the sharpness of his slider.
Can Hudson get on the radar again with the continued presence of that particular pitch doing work for him? And how did the Cardinals land on Drew Rom for Monday in Pittsburgh? All discussed in this edition of B-Schaeff Daily.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the controversy from Friday, August 18, 2023 at Busch Stadium as Pete Alonso chucked the baseball from Masyn Winn's first-ever MLB hit into the crowd beyond the St. Louis Cardinals dugout.
Was it an intentional act against a Cardinal team with whom Pete Alonso has some previous beef and history? Or was this simply a brain fart moment for a player who didn't realize the situation? We hear from both sides of the conversation to hopefully settle on an answer as to how this bizarre moment came to be.
We also discuss the solid outing by Zack Thompson and various other thoughts from the Cardinals' 7-1 loss to the Mets.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the resurgent Adam Wainwright performance from Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 loss to the Mets, but the real meat of the moment is the conversation that follows as the Cards have called up top prospect Masyn Winn to the big-league club in St. Louis.
Winn will join the team in time for Friday night's game at Busch Stadium. What it means for the Cardinals, what we can expect from Winn, and why now was the right time to make the move as it relates to his rookie eligibility for 2024.

Brenden Schaeffer returns from his family vacation in the Ozarks to discuss the regression by Matthew Liberatore Wednesday in the St. Louis Cardinals 8-0 loss to the Oakland Athletics at Busch Stadium.
Why did Libby look so different compared to the dominant version of him we saw his last time out -- and why the Cardinals should take notice of the inconsistencies to ensure they aren't relying heavily upon any 'maybes' when it comes to their 2024 rotation.
Plus we talk about some of the latest Cardinals injuries and how that could mean roster moves for the big club in the coming days. A little Masyn Winn talk is included before we wrap with a preview of a critical start for Adam Wainwright coming up on Thursday against the Mets.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the standout performance by Matthew Liberatore against the Rays as the St. Louis Cardinals beat Tampa 5-2 on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Liberatore has heard for years about how the Cardinals lost the trade that sent Randy Arozarena to the Rays but does a performance like the one he had on Thursday against the team that drafted him change the outlook on what his career could become? Remember, this guy was a first-round pick, after all.
