Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 6-1 loss to the Reds at GABP on Monday evening as the Redbirds are now just one game above .500.
Jordan Walker returning to the lineup did not provide the intended boost as he went 0-for-3 with a walk. He was far from the only quiet Cardinal offensively in the game as STL had two opportunities with the bases loaded go by the wayside on the day.
Sonny Gray gave up three homers including one to EDLC and two to Spencer Steer... A rough outing despite the nine Ks that Gray racked up.
The Cardinals just aren't vibing after Monday's game and they're quickly facing an uphill climb in the standings with dwindling time remaining in the year to truly find their footing.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses Monday's news of Jordan Walker's return to the St. Louis Cardinals roster. Matt Carpenter goes on the IL to make room for the return of the one of the most exciting Cardinals prospects in recent memory.
Walker has been heating up at AAA. Is it time for him to emerge as an everyday threat for the Cardinals lineup? The usefulness of the Cardinals roster just increased for Oli Marmol.
Also, we discuss the Riley O'Brien news from Sunday and revisit the Tyler O'Neill trade now that the main player acquired for him has been DFA'd.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 8-5 win over the Royals on a live stream Friday night.
Miles Mikolas struggled, but Libby picked him up with three stellar innings of relief.
The Cardinal offense got to work with huge swings from Contreras, Burleson and a breakout moment from Victor Scott II.
Helsley closed the door and the Cardinals beat the Royals for the first time in 2024.

Brenden and Josh (from @DealinTheCards podcast) discuss the Cardinals for their weekly Friday podcast.
Episode 4 dives into the question of who could rise up on this roster to carry the torch and the team down the stretch for a playoff push.
If there's not one name that can be responsible for doing it, should the Cardinals consider a few bold roster moves to make sure they're maximizing the utility of the 26-man group on a daily basis? Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 6-4 loss to the Rays in a live stream Thursday night.
The Cardinals staked out an early lead with Kyle Gibson giving them exactly what was needed, but a bullpen stretched thin was forced to turn to one of its non-leverage guys in a leverage spot--and things quickly went downhill from there.
The offense did some good things, but not enough of them. They hit into some bad luck, so there's not a ton to reasonably be angry over. But it's a microcosm of a larger truth, the Cardinals don't have time to let games like this one get away between now and the end of the year.
And the schedule is starting to heat up. It'll be a gauntlet. Can STL handle the heat?

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 5-2 win over the Rays on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium as Erick Fedde did what he had to do in his home debut as a Cardinal.
Fedde had to grind through a couple long innings but he limited damage and got through 5 innings of one-run baseball to set the Cardinal bullpen up for success in the late innings.
A key component of the win was the Cardinals coming through with a few clutch hits with RISP -- one of those hits came from Alec Burleson who swung the bat great all night, possibly being fueled by meeting a childhood idol before the game?
We'll explain how Randy Orton influenced the Cardinals win and go into the clubhouse to hear from the always entertaining Burly!

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 4-3 win over the Rays on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.
Sonny Gray started rocky, allowing a 2-run homer in the first inning and needing 30 pitches to escape the opening frame. But he settled in like an ace is supposed to do, securing seven innings with just those initial two runs allowed.
The Cardinal offense still has a ton of work to do to improve with RISP (another rough AB by Arenado in such a scenario tonight) but a two-out rally ignited the scoring as Victor Scott launched his first-ever MLB homer before Tommy Pham added some insurance in a key second inning.
Cards didn't score again, but thanks to quality pitching and a huge play to end the game on a great throw by Masyn Winn, they didn't need to (at least not this time).

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the state of the Cardinals season after their 6-0 loss to the Mets on Monday night at Busch. There was a play in this game that made some Cardinals fans think Arenado was dogging it, not giving his best effort.Brenden gives his take on that play and other burning questions from Cardinals fans in this latest episode of B-Schaeff Daily. Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals loss on Sunday night baseball to the Cubs as they eventually dropped 3 of 4 on the long weekend at Wrigley.
After a hot couple of games against the Rangers, the offense simply cratered this weekend. And the Cardinals also lost Michael Siani to an oblique injury, and the latest update on his status isn't too encouraging. Victor Scott II is up with the big club, but how will he be used in this second stint?
At least Jordan Walker is starting to turn it on in Memphis!

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 5-4 win over the Cubs from Saturday at Wrigley as the defensive antics of the Baby Bears in the eighth inning allowed the Cardinals to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
We discuss the PCA and Hoerner mishap at length while also wondering aloud why Nolan Arenado did not end up at second base on the play (not that it mattered in the end, but I know it does to Cardinals fans!)
Plus, recognition that the Cardinals don't win this game without Kyle Gibson settling in and competing for seven innings after a rough start for the first couple of innings.
And we have to discuss a potentially damaging loss to the Cards as Michael Siani left Saturday's game with oblique tightness. Who could replace him if necessary? (You may already know as of listening-time but I did not when I recorded!)
