MOB330: Developing Cross-Platform Mobile Apps with Ionic, GraphQL, and AWS Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

Rapid app development requires the developer to concentrate on the code, not the infrastructure. In this session, Max Lynch, CEO of Ionic, shows how a combination of highly scalable serverless features in AWS paired with cross-platform JavaScript development using the Ionic platform makes it easy to build high-performance mobile and web apps that look and feel beautiful on any device.

MOB401: Ten Tips And Tricks for Improving Your GraphQL API with AWS AppSync Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

As you move your modern app to production, you need to consider how to scale, secure, and maintain your backend APIs. In this session, we provide some of the tips, tricks, and best practices for running serverless GraphQL APIs reliably on AWS. We cover topics such as versioning, multiple environments, CI/CD, advanced schema design, monitoring, alerting, and advanced search scenarios.

MOB402: Authentication & Authorization in GraphQL with AWS AppSync Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

Modern apps require special consideration for the security and privacy of user data, especially in today's compliance-driven world. In this session, we provide some of the common use cases and design patterns to secure user data in a globally available GraphQL API, and discuss best practices for authentication and authorization in AWS AppSync.

NET201: Your Virtual Data Center: VPC Fundamentals and Connectivity Options Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

In this session, we walk through the fundamentals of Amazon VPC. First, we cover build-out and design fundamentals for VPCs, including picking your IP space, subnetting, routing, security, NAT, and much more. We then transition to different approaches and use cases for optionally connecting your VPC to your physical data center with VPN or AWS Direct Connect. This mid-level architecture discussion is aimed at architects, network administrators, and technology decision makers interested in understanding the building blocks that AWS makes available with Amazon VPC. Learn how you can connect VPCs with your offices and current data center footprint.

NET202: Securing Your Virtual Data Center in the Cloud Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

In this introductory session, we cover how to secure your resources in the cloud for common AWS workloads such as Amazon EC2 computing, database, and serverless. We cover security best practices recommended by AWS for each workload using simple and effective identity and networking techniques. Learn how and why these controls do what they do, and come away with the ability to interpret and apply AWS identity and network access controls.

    NET209: Leadership Session: Networking Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

Join Dave Brown, VP of EC2 Networking at AWS, to learn about the new services and features we launched this year. Dave also share our vision for the future of connectivity in the cloud and the ongoing evolution of networking capabilities. Dave covers the entire suite of networking services, including Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), Elastic Load Balancing, AWS PrivateLink, VPN, and AWS Direct Connect. In addition, Dave reviews some real-world customer scenarios and how AWS networking solves those in a secure, reliable, flexible, and highly performant way.

NET301: Best Practices for AWS PrivateLink Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

AWS PrivateLink is a networking service that allows you to increase the security, scale, and resiliency of your services. In this session, we review the way AWS PrivateLink works, best practices, and how to increase availability and security. We review how to set up both the consumer and provider sides of PrivateLink, use cases, and interoperability with other AWS services. Whether you want to consume services in a more scalable and private way or you have services you want to share with others, we help you understand best practices for AWS PrivateLink.

NET303: Advanced VPC Design and New Capabilities for Amazon VPC Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) enables you to have complete control over your AWS virtual networking environment. Given this control, have you ever wondered how new Amazon VPC features might affect the way you design your AWS networking infrastructure, or even change existing architectures that you use today? In this session, we explore the new design and capabilities of Amazon VPC and how you might use them. Please join us for a speaker meet-and-greet following this session at the Speaker Lounge (ARIA East, Level 1, Willow Lounge). The meet-and-greet starts 15 minutes after the session and runs for half an hour.

    NET304: AWS VPN Solutions Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

Many enterprises on their journey to the cloud require consistent and highly secure connectivity among their existing data center, their staff, and AWS environments. In this session, we walk through the different architecture options for establishing this connectivity using AWS VPN solutions. With each option, we evaluate the considerations and discuss risk, performance, high availability, encryption, and cost.

NET305: Behind the Scenes: Exploring the AWS Global Network Dec 01, 2018
    Show notes

The AWS Global Network provides a secure, highly available, and high- performance infrastructure for customers. In this session, we walk through the architecture of various parts of the AWS network such as Availability Zones, AWS Regions, our Global Network connecting AWS Regions to each other and our Edge Network which provides Internet connectivity. We explain how AWS services such as AWS Direct Connect and Amazon CloudFront integrate with our Global Network to provide the best experience for our customers. We also dive into how the AWS Global Network connects to the rest of the Internet through peering at a global scale. If you are curious about how AWS network infrastructure can support large-scale cat photo distribution or how Internet routing works, this session answers those questions. Please join us for a speaker meet-and-greet following this session at the Speaker Lounge (ARIA East, Level 1, Willow Lounge). The meet-and-greet starts 15 minutes after the session and runs for half an hour.
