Wednesday Wagering with Wes Reynolds – Listener Questions, College Basketball, & Honda Classic Feb 27, 2019
    Show notes

On the Wednesday February 27 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by professional handicapper Wes Reynolds, @WesReynolds1 on Twitter, for the Wednesday Wagering segment. The guys revisited listener questions about bankroll management by sport, the concept of value in sports betting, late-season college basketball betting, and this week’s PGA Tour event, the Honda Classic.
Wes is a high-volume, multi-sport handicapper, so his thoughts on bankroll management and unit size per sport were rather interesting to get on today’s show. Closing line value, middling, and hedging were also topics of conversation. Wes had some interesting thoughts on Tuesday’s college basketball card that led to a discussion about Wednesday’s and beyond. Finally, the guys gave their golf picks and thoughts for the Honda Classic at PGA National.

AL East MLB Betting Preview with Host Adam Burke Feb 27, 2019
    Show notes

On the Wednesday February 27 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke took center stage and gave his thoughts on the American League East Division for the upcoming 2019 season. Adam went in-depth with the Orioles, Red Sox, Yankees, Rays, and Jays to discuss betting angles, season win totals, and players to watch on a daily basis for this season.
Adam will be doing these division breakdowns as time permits on the show, so you want to keep it tuned to BangTheBook Radio in the lead-up to the season. This is a peak at what you can expect in the MLB Betting Guide that will be released next week. Adam talked about some intriguing stats and trends from last season, looked into regression candidates, and isolated pitchers to watch for each team that you can look to fade or follow.

Capping the Card with Ralph Michaels – College Basketball Late-Season Betting Tips Feb 26, 2019
    Show notes

On the Tuesday February 26 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by professional handicapper Ralph Michaels of WagerTalk.com for this week’s Capping the Card segment. The guys talked about college basketball betting tips for the last week of the regular season in small conferences, what this week means for big conferences, futures betting, and Ralph’s top situational and technical plays of the week.
The guys also revisited a listener question from Monday’s Mailbag about bankroll management across different sports and some of the strategies that are involved in that. The regular season is coming to a close for the small conferences this week, so Adam and Ralph touched on some betting angles there and also looked at the major conferences and what these last regular season games mean.

Betting the Board with Brian Blessing – NHL Trade Deadline, NASCAR, & Honda Classic Feb 26, 2019
    Show notes

On the Tuesday February 26 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by Brian Blessing, the host of Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline, for this week’s Betting the Board segment. Please excuse the small sound issues for the first couple minutes of the segment with Brian.
This has become a grab bag segment for us, as the guys recapped the NHL Trade Deadline and talked betting angles, discussed NASCAR, and handicapped the Honda Classic PGA Tour event at PGA National.
The NHL Trade Deadline allowed teams to fill holes for the playoff push and created new holes for the sellers. Adam and Brian broke down the Deadline to find NHL betting advantages and also isolate some teams and spots that could be present this week. They talked about the new NASCAR rules package and took an early look at this week’s Pennzoil 400 out in Las Vegas. Finally, the Honda Classic has a much weaker field than other recent events, which could create some value this week at PGA National.

Handicapping the Hardwood – America East, Northeast Conference, & Games for Week of February 25, 2019 Feb 25, 2019
    Show notes

On the Monday February 25 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by professional handicapper Kyle Hunter of HunterSportsPicks.com for this week’s Handicapping the Hardwood segment. The guys talked about the America East Conference, the Northeast Conference, and games for this week as the regular season starts to draw to a close.
Adam and Kyle continued their conference breakdowns with two leagues that are way under the radar in the America East and the NEC. It was easy to combine those two, both geographically and because there are a small number of relevant teams. They also talked about some fade/follow teams and also previewed games for this week, including Syracuse vs. North Carolina and Minnesota vs. Northwestern.

Listener questions covered a wide range of topics, including bankroll management across different sports, the Home Run King odds, the impact of a pitch clock in baseball, the Cubs’ PECOTA projection, pneumonia vs. 0-12, closing line value, Robert Kraft, and what “value” actually is in betting.
This was a great set of questions and others came in that we can expand on this Friday and next week as conference tournaments get going regarding money line rollovers and betting conference tournament games. Send Monday Mailbag questions to Adam on Twitter @SkatingTripods or adam[at]bangthebook[dot]com via email.

With Adam out sick most of the week, the decision was made to get some more content out to our listeners and that included this standalone UFC betting segment.
The guys talked about some of the betting considerations with an event in a new locale. They looked at the main event between Jan Blachowicz and Thiago Santos, as well as Stefan Struve vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima. They talked about Lucie Pudilova and the uncertainly for the only Czech fighter on the card and discussed things like handicapping a missed weight and looking ahead to an upcoming card.

After touching on a couple of fade/follow teams, the guys dug into five games for this weekend, including Tennessee vs. LSU, a potential letdown spot for North Carolina against Florida State, and Michigan State vs. Michigan in the Big Ten.

Questions about college basketball key numbers and pace wars started off today’s segment.
