Your Clubs May Be Completely WRONG For Your Swing! Oct 02, 2026
    Show notes

In this today's Podcast, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf are joined by Scott Anderson, president of True Spec Golf, to break down what actually matters in a club fitting. Scott opens with a wild story: a tour player with a 130 mph clubhead speed was struggling at the Honda Classic, and it turned out his 7 and 9 irons were built with ladies flex shafts, not a swing issue at all.
They cover why the golf club is often "the arrow, not the archer," how True Spec's Club Connect system lets them test any shaft in any head to isolate variables, why the head matters more than the shaft in most cases, and why golfers almost never leave with one brand top to bottom. They also dig into spin and loft (why stronger lofts have quietly hurt a lot of golfers' short game), the shift toward fairway woods over long irons and hybrids, and how a real fitting turned one junior golfer's swing speed jump into a completely different bag.
Scott also shares a story about a fitter who turned down a sale because the timing wasn't right, and how that decision paid off in the long run.
Let us know in the comments the last time you got properly fit for your clubs.

We'd Outlaw This Golf Advice On The Spot! Sep 25, 2026
    Show notes

In this video Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf play "golf czar for a day" and go through the advice, comments, and mindsets they'd ban from golf entirely if they were in charge. That includes the idea that you can't change your golf swing (Mike has changed his five times, with video proof), the instinct to avoid counter movements like the backswing weight shift because "you're just going to have to move forward anyway," and beginner methods that strip away athletic movement in the name of a quick fix.
They also cover why "you can't learn touch or speed" on the greens is false, why playing off-the-rack clubs instead of getting fit can be holding your game back, and Shaun's own proposed etiquette rule for pace of play: there should always be a ball in the air.
Let us know in the comments what golf advice you'd ban if you were in charge for a day.

Did This Navy SEAL Figure Out The Mental Game of Golf? Sep 18, 2026
    Show notes

In this video Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf are joined by Dr. Joe LaCaze, a former Navy SEAL, SEAL instructor, and the inventor of the Rotex and LAS training systems. He shares the wild story of a parachute malfunction that put him on foot in the path of a moving train, and how he walked away from it. From there the conversation shifts to what nearly 30 years of training SEAL candidates taught him about building difficult skills, including why process matters more than outcome, why "smooth is smooth, slow is smooth, smooth is fast," and why practice makes permanent, not perfect.
They also cover a story about a tour player whose putting yips disappeared after a session on the pistol range, and Dr. Joe's own recent results after applying his training system to his golf swing.

Gary Gilchrist’s Formula for Building Elite Golfers! Sep 11, 2026
    Show notes

Gary Gilchrist has coached FOUR world #1 golfers, and in this episode, the Athletic Motion Golf Podcast breaks down what separates the best golfers in the world from everyone else.
We sit down with legendary golf coach Gary Gilchrist to talk golf swing instruction, golf mindset, confidence, junior golf development, and what he’s learned from decades of coaching some of the greatest players in the game. Gary shares stories about Michelle Wie, Yani Tseng, Suzann Pettersen, Shanshan Feng, the Jutanugarn sisters and more — while explaining why becoming a great golfer requires WAY more than building a technically perfect golf swing.
And this conversation goes well beyond golf instruction.
Gary explains why confidence may be the most important ingredient in becoming an elite golfer, what happens when world-class players lose that confidence, and why many golfers and golf coaches make the mistake of constantly looking for weaknesses instead of building around strengths.
We also dive into Gary’s incredible journey through the game.
From growing up and playing golf in South Africa, attending Texas A&M, learning under legendary golf instructor David Leadbetter, and helping build the junior golf program at the Bollettieri Sports Academy, Gary had a front-row seat to the evolution of modern golf coaching.
And some of the stories are WILD.
Gary talks about meeting a 12-year-old Michelle Wie in Hawaii and immediately realizing she was different, watching Yani Tseng produce some of the best golf he’d ever seen, helping Suzann Pettersen climb toward the top of the world rankings, and what he learned developing elite junior golfers from around the world.
But maybe the biggest lesson from the entire conversation is this:
There is no single perfect golf swing.
Great golf coaches learn the PLAYER first.
Gary explains why every golfer needs to be coached differently, why great instruction should build confidence instead of creating more swing thoughts, and why looking at your golf game “through a microscope” can sometimes make you worse.
Gary has spent his career studying what makes golfers better — technically, mentally and competitively.
And after coaching players at the highest levels of professional golf, his biggest lessons might be much simpler than you expect.
    Enjoy the conversation.

This Tour Pro's Practice Routine Will Surprise You! Sep 04, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf are joined by European Tour winner and former Ryder Cup player Rafa Cabrera-Bello. Rafa explains how, after years of relying purely on feel, he found AMG's videos while searching for a way to shallow his golf club, one of the most common swing struggles on tour, and booked an online lesson that turned into a multi-year working relationship.
Rafa opens up about dropping from a top 50 world ranking to outside the top 100 over two years, even as people around him kept telling him his swing looked the same as when he was playing well. He explains why he trusts measured data over opinion (95% of the best players in the world share certain movements, and you can choose to be on that side or the 5% that doesn't), why it takes roughly 5,000 reps before a new movement starts to feel like yours and 20,000 before you truly own it, and why real swing changes take close to a full year to trust under competitive pressure. He also walks through his mirror-based practice routine, the difference between ball-oriented amateurs and target-oriented pros, and his honest, still-ongoing battle to shallow the club even at the highest level of the game.

You CAN Swing Just Like A Major Champion (Here's How) Aug 28, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf Podcast answer the comment they get every single week: "Amateurs shouldn't try to copy tour players." Using years of 3D data on tour winners, they explain why that advice is backwards. The players in their database are not physical outliers. Many fail basic mobility screens that amateurs pass. What actually separates them is simpler movements, repeated inside a tight, learnable window, not more talent or more flexibility.
They break down why good players fall into a narrow range on things like hip turn, arm bend, and spine angle (and why bad golf swings fall into a much wider one), the "shifting through the gears" idea versus jumping straight to full effort, and why two pros with completely different builds can both produce 180 mph ball speed through technique and sequencing, not strength. Then they get into the practical takeaway: find your own 3 or 4 "dominoes," the small number of things that move your swing back into a good window, write them on a note card, and stop chasing a new fix every week. They also cover why setup (grip, ball position, aim) drifts faster than your actual swing, and why removing variables before you practice is the fastest way to actually get better.
You don't have to be a physical specimen to move like a tour player. You just have to move simply, and in the right direction.

The Advice That's Secretly Ruining Your Swing! Aug 21, 2026
    Show notes

In today's Athletic Motion Golf podcast, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb discuss one of their biggest realizations from years of 3D data: your bad golf swing is much closer to a great one than you've been led to believe. Almost every move golfers think of as a major fault (the flip, the shift off the ball, the trail leg thrusting forward) is actually the natural, athletic movement done at the wrong time, not the opposite of what good players do.
The problem is that the instruction industry has spent years teaching the opposite. Take a player who flips and shaft-leans back, then tries to fix it by shoving the hands forward into 14 or 18 degrees of shaft lean, and you've sent them further from the truth, not closer. We get into why zero (or even 2 degrees back) is closer to the tour average than the extreme numbers golfers chase, why the rib-cracker and pinched-arm drills hurt more than they help, what Scott Hamilton says about taking shaft lean OUT of players, and why the club champions at every course are more lined up at impact than any of these forced positions. Plus: the Bryson divot photo everyone misreads, "science evolves one funeral at a time," Webb's Windows and the ranges that actually matter, and why every choice in your swing has a consequence.
Give yourself some grace, learn the good ranges, and be careful where you get your information.

    How He Coached A 14-Year-Old Into A National Champion! Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

For today's podcast, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb's guest is Nick Duffy, Director of Instruction at Athletic Motion Golf and coach of the 2024 NCAA individual champion. Nick started working with his star pupil at 14 and rebuilt an unorthodox, already-winning swing into a championship game...so we dug into everything he's learned about developing junior golfers, and why so much talent gets wasted.
We cover the growth-spurt "drop-off" (why bones grow first, muscles second, and the nervous system last — and what it does to a young swing), the two things that quietly end junior careers, how over-involved parents can drive a kid out of the game, and the coach-vs-parent line (the famous Butch Harmon & Earl Woods conversation). Nick shares his student's wild path — two years of Singapore military service, visualizing his swing on a Navy boat, then qualifying for a college event straight off the boat — and the mental fortitude that mattered more than any technique. Plus: building a backup shot for the days your swing isn't there, the "smaller field" mindset, and inside-the-ropes stories from the 2024 Masters and US Open at Pinehurst.
Then we get into instruction: why the trail arm is the #1 fault masking everything else, the "parlor trick" of fixing the backswing so impact fixes itself, why the best players want the simplest information, and why your body pivot has to match your shot shape.

Your Over-The-Top Downswing Starts In Your Takeaway! Aug 07, 2026
    Show notes

Over 10 million swings have now been captured on the Swing Coach app and one pattern dominates: the club sucked inside on the takeaway, then thrown steep and over the top coming down. Walk any driving range and you'll see this "sledgehammer" move everywhere. In this video we break down why it's so hard to play good golf from there, and exactly how to fix it — starting where it actually begins: the takeaway.
We cover why we're "backswing teachers" (organize the backswing and the downswing largely fixes itself), why the pros' simpler moves — arms in front, a decent pivot, nothing too sideways — are the reason they can rely on them, and why chasing outliers like Jim Furyk is a losing bet. Then we walk through the real fix using Swing Coach's instant feedback: why your first true on-plane takeaway will feel like a "10 outside," why you have to push way past what feels right, how to get through the bad shots as your release pattern catches up, and the "parlor trick" of fixing a steep downswing without ever talking about the downswing.
You can't afford a tour coach standing next to you every swing — but the app gives you that instant "too much / not enough" feedback so you can finally train your feel on your own.

The Training Aid That Widens Your Backswing Instantly! Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

On this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf Podcast, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb reveal something they've spent over 10 years building.
After more than a decade giving 3D lessons, we kept seeing the same fault in 99% of golfers: the trail arm. It over-bends, pulls behind the rib cage, and lowers — and that combination is what sends the club steep and over the top in transition. We tried every training aid out there to fix it, and never loved any of them: they were cumbersome, they didn't fit every arm, and worst of all, most did the work FOR you — so nothing transferred once you took them off.
So we built our own. In this episode we walk through the whole journey...the forearm braces golfers used as a "door stop," the velcroed squeaky dog toys, the adult swimmies (yes, the Nelly Korda ones), and the version with teeth that "chewed up my arm like a shark" — right up to the finished design: the Arm Shark. It gives you two kinds of instant feedback — a tactile give and an audible click — the moment your trail arm bends too much, so you do 100% of the movement yourself. No app, no Bluetooth, just old-school analog pass/fail. In testing we're seeing 30–40° of arm-bend change in just a few swings, and it works for the takeaway, the downswing (staying wide like Hunter Mahan), setup, and short game. It ships with three fins for every arm type and skill level.
This kicks off the next phase of AMG — turning a decade of data into tools that make these concepts tangible in your very next practice session.
