AT Parenting Survival | Raising Kids with OCD & Anxiety

If you’re raising a child or teen with OCD or anxiety, you’re in the right place.

Parenting a child with OCD can feel confusing, exhausting, and isolating, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Each week, therapist Natasha Daniels shares practical, evidence-based strategies to help you understand how OCD and anxiety really work, respond in ways that support recovery, and feel more confident as a parent.

Whether your child struggles with contamination OCD, intrusive thoughts, reassurance seeking, perfectionism, moral OCD, social anxiety, panic, school refusal, or other anxiety-related challenges, you’ll learn realistic tools you can use at home right away.

Drawing from more than 20 years of clinical experience and her own journey parenting children with OCD and anxiety, Natasha breaks down complex topics into clear, compassionate guidance that parents can actually apply. Episodes cover OCD treatment, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), reducing family accommodation, managing meltdowns, supporting therapy, and navigating everyday challenges with confidence.

Whether you’re newly discovering that your child’s anxiety may actually be OCD, searching for better ways to help, or simply looking for reassurance that you’re not alone, this podcast is here to support you every step of the way.

Anxiety and OCD can take its toll. It can be exhausting, overwhelming and traumatizing for the whole family. So, when your child starts to make some big improvements, it’s normal to be worried about how long it will last. It’s normal to doubt the progress. You might ask yourself, “Is this for real? Is this the new normal?”Many of us live waiting for the other shoe to drop. I am TOTALLY guilty of this. Luckily, I have a husband who auto-corrects my anxious mind. I also work everyday to re-frame my catastrophic thinking. In this week’s AT Parenting Survival Podcast, I am talking about how to soak up your child’s success without living in the future of What if’s.***This podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.Visit my website at www.ATparentingSurvival.comInterested in my AT Parenting Community Membership? PSP 144: Surviving the Holidays with Kids Who Have Anxiety or OCD Nov 26, 2019
    Show notes

I love the holidays. I mean LOVE them! But my three anxious kids can hit some pretty big bumps during the holiday season. In fact, most kids who have anxiety or OCD hit a few bumps during this time of year. There is the chaos. The crowds. And then there are the new foods, constant parties, scratchy clothing, lots of socializing, busy schedule and high hopes for what they’ll get. All that leaves some pretty cranky kids by early January. In this week’s episode of the AT Parenting Survival Podcast, I was asked to talk about tips to help kids with anxiety or OCD survive the holidays. I hope it helps give you some ideas!***This podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.Visit my website at www.ATparentingSurvival.comInterested in my AT Parenting Community Membership? PSP 143: How Our Expectations and Stress Impact Our Child with Anxiety or OCD Nov 18, 2019
    Show notes

We often think there is nothing we can do if our child doesn’t work on their anxiety or OCD. I often say, we are in the passenger seat and they are in the driver’s seat. But there is one thing, one HUGE thing we can do. We can work on how our expectations of our child’s success or failure impact the outcome. We can also work on our stress. Because our stress doesn’t live in a bubble, it’s contagious and likes to spread throughout our family. In this episode of the AT Parenting Survival Podcast, I talk all about how to take the reigns and help your child by making some simple steps to help yourself. Also, just for this week you can catch my 3-part video series called Self-Care for Parents Raising Kids with Anxiety or OCD.
