    About Dr. Michael Nagler:

    Michael is the Superintendent of the Mineola School District, a suburb of NYC. Mike began his career as a social studies teacher in NYC. While teaching he earned his doctorate from Columbia University and accepted an administrative position with Mineola in 1999. He believes strongly in the district’s mission to inspire students to become lifelong learners that exhibit strength of character and contribute positively to a global society. During his twenty three years with the district, he has been a big proponent of using technology to engage students in rigorous content. All five schools in Mineola have been recognized as Apple distinguished schools. Mineola is also a member of the League of Innovative Schools, Dr. Nagler is the Chairperson of the Advisory Board. Mineola was one of the first schools in the State to implement a comprehensive computer science curriculum starting in kindergarten. Mineola is also at the forefront of digital student portfolios. She has 12 years of teaching experience, educating students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. She believes that early education and interventions can change the course of a child’s life. Fennell holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education with an endorsement in reading from Ashland University and a 4-5 generalist endorsement from The Ohio State University. She has a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University. She is always learning and serving the world of education through training, presentations, and committees. Fennell is the author of children’s books including Play? Yay!, Choose Your Cheer, and Play? Yay! Baby Talk. She is a defender of play in the classroom and looks for ways to incorporate fun into learning. She believes in the power of play for social, emotional, and motor skills and has volunteered her time to have a Lego Club for kindergarten through third grade students. She is the founder of the Young Author’s Workshop at Ashland City Schools. She loves books and is always looking for ways to integrate reading into the classroom and promote literacy in the community.

    Lainie Rowell is an educator, author, podcaster, and international consultant who specializes in working with other educators to find innovative and sustainable ways to transform teaching and learning. Her areas of expertise include online/blended learning, designing innovative learning experiences, professional learning, and community building. During her more almost 25 years in education, Lainie has taught elementary, secondary, and higher education. She also served in a district-level leadership position supporting 22,000 students and 1,200 teachers at 33 schools. As a consultant, Lainie's client list ranges from Fortune 100 companies like Apple and Google to school districts and independent schools. Lainie is a TEDx Speaker with more than 15 years of experience presenting at regional, national, and international conferences including Building Learning Communities (BLC) and the Leadership 3.0 Symposium. Lainie was a contributor to the 2019 National Standards for Quality Online Teaching and on the 2014 Blended Learning Teacher Competency Framework committee. Since 2014, Lainie has been a consultant for the Orange County Department of Education's Institute for Leadership Development facilitating professional learning for administrators.
