    About “The Book”

This book tackles in-class flip thoroughly being the first book of its kind. The book explains what in-class flip is and how it differs from traditional flipped learning. The book contains 13 chapters that walk teachers through the many possibilities to conduct an in-class flip across settings, providing detail for teachers to implement it successfully and from scratch. We lay out the theory behind flipped learning and construct our own definition of In-class Flip, including comparisons with other authors’ conceptions of this approach. The book was written by two language and teacher educators, but to fill the gaps of content and context the authors might have, fifteen educators around the globe and in multiple fields were interviewed and their stories provide a wider scope. We also explain how differentiation plays an important role in the use of in-class flip. This is a practical book with many real-life examples (images, videos, lesson plan formats), a step-by-step planning guide, and information about online learning, gamification and other methodologies that in-class flip supports. Throughout the different pages, educators will encounter a myriad of ideas they can take into their classes as soon as they pick up this book.

    About “The Boundless Classroom”

A global pandemic hit our world, changing education forever. Teachers must now leverage technology to provide students with high-quality teaching and learning experiences that transcend a traditional classroom’s walls. This is a historic opportunity to reimagine instruction in ways that boost learning outcomes and prepare students for living and working in the digital age. This book offers guidance for creating and sustaining rigorous and engaging blended learning solutions. Opening with lessons learned from the pandemic, the book addresses impacts on lesson design and delivery, student engagement, assessment, and teacher training and professional development. The following chapters build on and address these experiences, with each chapter featuring strategies and examples of how to implement effective approaches to lesson design for blended and online instruction. This book:
    • Explores seven different blended learning models, with strategies and suggestions for implementing each one.
    • Provides detailed guidance for planning a blended learning curriculum, from establishing a digital infrastructure to
    • integrating students into a learning management system (LMS) to mapping a course scope and sequence.
    • Features downloadable templates, checklists, and guided professional learning tasks in every chapter to help design
    • virtual and blended lessons.
    • Includes strategies for implementing authentic, student-led assessments.
