Ryan Hartwig – Facebook Moderator Turned Whistleblower – Ask Dr. Drew – Episode 51 Oct 22, 2021
    Show notes

For almost 2 years, Ryan Hartwig was a moderator at Cognizant, which was contracted by Facebook to review posts and take action against content that violated its policies. With millions of new posts every day, the platform has struggled to find a balance between free speech and the regulation of misinformation and violence — claiming that it moderates content with fair and reasonable rules. But after getting an insider’s view of the platform’s enforcement practices, Ryan became alarmed by what he claims is a pattern of censorship: with rules being applied inconsistently to favor one end of the political spectrum over the other, and vast powers wielded by biased moderators who control what users are allowed to say. In 2020, Ryan secretly documented his findings for a Project Veritas exposé and his book “Behind The Mask Of Facebook.”

Dr. Joycelyn Elders – Bill Clinton's Controversial Surgeon General – Ask Dr. Drew – Episode 50 Oct 15, 2021
    Show notes

In 1993, Dr. Joycelyn Elders was the 15th Surgeon General of the United States – the first African American and the second woman to be in charge of the US Public Health Service. As a pioneering advocate for sex education and addiction treatment, many of Dr. Elders' views were so controversial at the time that she was forced to resign as Surgeon General by 1994 – even though today, most of those same "controversial" views are now accepted as facts by the medical community. She joins Ask Dr. Drew to discuss her historic work in medicine and to offer insight about vaccine hesitancy, safe sex education, and community health issues.

Currently she is a professor emerita at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Elders is a trained pediatrician, biochemist, and a Vice Admiral. Dr. Joycelyn Elders was born Minnie Lee Jones on August 13, 1933, in Schaal, Arkansas.

Cary Poarch – CNN Leaker at Project Veritas - Ask Dr. Drew - Episode 44 Aug 19, 2021
    Show notes

Cary Poarch was a technician contractor at CNN's Washington D.C. bureau before exploding into the headlines of 2019 when millions viewed his leaked videos that exposed CNN President Jeff Zucker's personal vendetta against President Trump. For 8 months, Cary had secretly recorded internal discussions at CNN with a hidden camera, and he believes these tapes show a culture of manufactured reporting and media censorship from inside one of the world's largest news organizations.

Cary says that he isn't motivated by right-wing political bias -- he supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 -- but that he became philosophically disturbed by the bias and skewed reporting that he witnessed from inside the famed news broadcaster. After his recordings were released by Project Veritas founder James O'Keefe, Cary was fired by CNN -- afterward, supporters raised over $100,000 on GoFundMe to help Cary and his family move from DC. Now an investigator for Project Veritas, Cary encourages other whistleblowers and insiders to speak up about the secret agendas of major news companies, and to support the many journalists who are driven by truth and fairness but are often hindered by the financial motivations of the corporate networks that hire them.
