Musical Cooking with One Great Vegan Apr 26, 2020

Show notes

Who is Gabrielle Reyes, what was the inspiration behind her popular blog and where can you join her weekly for cooking classes? Gabrielle is one of my most sensational guests EVER! Her energy is electric and you can’t help but smile. Listen in on how her voice is changing the way people think about the vegan lifestyle.
Follow: @OneGreatVegan
Web: www.onegreatvegan.com
About the owner: I'm Gabrielle Reyes and I'm an actress, singer, veggie-lover, and colorful food creator! I've been vegan for about 10 years and in my time I've fallen in love with all things vegan, vegetarian, plant-based, organic, and all-natural! Before I went vegan I was weighed down by pressure to count calories, restrict myself from food for multiple days, and constantly judge and belittle myself for not being as skinny or petite as my peers. Eventually this led to a self-hating mindset and a two year long eating disorder. Veganism and living a plant-based lifestyle SAVED me from my own personal darkness and now I’m the healthiest and the happiest I could ever shine! These days, I am the proud host of the Musical Cooking Show, The Colorful Home Cooking Show where I share vegan and gluten-free recipes through song.
Being a performer I always knew that sick days were not an option and I had to have camera ready skin in a moments notice. So, when it came to my diet and what ways I was nourishing myself I knew that if I kept my insides squeaky clean, and the number of ingredients I consumed minimal, that I was bound to be in tip-top condition on the daily and also have my outsides reflect my insides! I created One Great Vegan so that others seeking health and wellness would have a source for recipes, guidance, coaching, and cooking classes.
One Great Vegan is based in Dallas, TX and offers private cooking classes, group cooking classes, plant-based and gluten-free catering, and Chef Gabrielle Reyes is the host of the Musical Cooking Show, The Colorful Home Cooking Show helping you take the right steps towards a healthy, vegan lifestyle!
After 10 years of being a tried and true vegan, I’ve gathered the best tips and recipes to make the most out of what Mother Nature has to offer. For some, eating a plant-based diet can be a challenge when transitioning for the first week or so. The good news is you’ve already made the choice to give veganism a try so the hardest part is over, and I’ll be here with you as you embark on the colorful path of veganism. Take the journey of growth and green-goodies and see how you can get your glow on!

Angela Birchett Shines as Jacky Clark in The Clark Sisters Movie Apr 22, 2020

Show notes

Angela Birchett gave an Oscar worthy performance in Lifetime’s The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel. We caught up with the actress to discuss her background in music, booking the role of Jacky Clark, meeting the real life Jacky in person and her takeaway from this incredible experience. I absolutely loved this movie. Angela did a wonderful job of portraying Jacky as the glue that held the family together. If you haven’t seen the movie....What are you waiting for???
Web: https://www.angelabirchett.com
Follow: @angelabirchett
About This Actress: A native of Detroit, Michigan, Angela embraced her calling to sing and act at an early age. After singing her first solo at her home church: Greater Grace Temple, she knew that she was destined to perform. She spent much of her formative years singing with her sisters in a trio, collectively known as “The Birchett Sisters”. It was in this group that she developed a talent and love for group singing. At 12 years old, Angela was the youngest member of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra excelling as a percussionist; and at 14, she was cast in her first professional production: a staging of Purlie where she was cast in the role of Missy, effectively making her the youngest cast member, playing one of the oldest characters in the show. Additionally, she was a very active member of the music department at Renaissance High School, under the direction of renowned educator, clinician, and choral director, Nina Scott.
After high school, Angela attended Kentucky State University where she double majored in Music Education and Vocal Performance. As a member of the university’s Opera Music Theatre Workshop, Concert, and Show Choirs, she was regularly seen on campus performing in several productions and concerts. While at KSU, Angela had the privilege of once again studying under a renowned musician: the late Andrew Smith and was regularly noticed by legendary soprano, Wilhelmenia Fernandez. Angela also received the prestigious honor of being crowned Miss Kentucky State University and placed third in the Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame pageant in 2000, a first for any reigning KSU queen.
Following graduation in 2002, Angela returned to Detroit and established the choral department at the Paul Robeson Academy. In the years following her time there, a number of her former students have also been drawn to the performing arts, pursuing university training and careers in musical theater, music recording, modeling, and acting.
Feeling an overwhelming inclination to New York City, she made the leap and transitioned full time to performing in 2005. In her first decade here she established herself as a power house and landed roles regionally and on tours starring in hit shows such as: Dreamgirls, Hairspray, Once on This Island, Rent, Ain't Misbehavin, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, as well as the 2015 Broadway revival and First National Tour of The Color Purple. Angela has also crossed over and declared herself a force to be reckoned with, appearing on television in a variety of shows including: Kevin Can Wait (CBS) and The Blindspot (NBC). In the fall of 2019, Angela will make her feature length debut in You Brought the Sunshine: The Story of the Clark Sisters (Lifetime) where she will tackle the role of Jacky Clark.
Angela juggles a very busy performance schedule that includes time spent as a session singer for various artists and jingle companies. She also appears in NYC at a myriad of performance venues, including a weekly residency as host of “Lights out on Broadway” in Times Square. This curated open mic has featured a plethora of Broadway performers and recording artists and has become a NYC nightlife hot spot.
For Angela, Sharing her gifts and talents is not about the destination, but the journey. Faith, Passion, and a burning desire to fully express herself whenever afforded the opportunity drive her discipline. Angela is committed to the lifelong pursuit of integrity and skill as an actor, warmth and honesty as a singer, humility as a seasoned performer, and she is loving every minute of it!
Keep up with Angela on all Social Media platforms @angelabirchett.

Crimson and Clover Studio’s new line of candles include such gems such as a peach-scented “I Like Your Butt”, and a holly berry scented “Not So Silent Night” candle. It all started with sticky notes Rachel and her then-boyfriend would leave for each other, realizing she had a knack for sassy zingers and giggle-inducing puns. After breaking up with her via sticky note, it dawned on Rachel, why not take the stockpile of sassy phrases saved on her phone and turn them into greeting cards? And poof! Crimson and Clover (named after the Jimmy Eat World song "A Praise Chorus") was born.

Show notes

After the success of the highly acclaimed Clark Sisters Movie on Lifetime, Ash Brown got the opportunity to speak with one of the stars from the film. Romaine Waite. She asked many of your questions about his background, how he got into character as Greg Cole and where you will see this superstar next. Remember the name Romaine Waite! This young man shows no signs of slowing down.
Follow: @romainewaite_
About: Romaine Waite was born in Jamaica and raised in Canada. Romaine found his love for performing at an early age when he took drama at his high school. It wasn’t until he earned a role in a small indie film when he realized acting was a career he wanted to pursue in life.
After a small stint in theatre, Romaine would make the transition to film and television when he got cast in numerous short and independent films. His first big break came when he appeared on his first network show in the Canadian drama series MURDOCH MYSTERIES (CITY/CBC). Since then, Romaine has amassed a significant body of work in several other film and television productions including 12 MONKEYS (SYFY), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (THE CW), SCHITT’S CREEK (NETFLIX/CBC), PRIVATE EYES (GLOBAL/ION), THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE (STARZ), THE MIST (PARAMOUNT), THE STRAIN (FX), STAR TREK DISCOVERY (CBS), SHADOWHUNTERS: THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS (NETFLIX/FREEFORM), LITTLE DOG (CBC), Canadian sci-fi horror film ANTISOCIAL and action feature SCRATCH. Romaine has also demonstrated true acting dexterity in well-reviewed live stage performances as Aaron Levinsky in NUTS (SCARBOROUGH VILLAGE THEATRE, 2014) and Rick in KILLCREEK (TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL, 2013).
Most recently, he was cast as series regular Bill Peters in the popular drama series FRANKIE DRAKE MYSTERIES (CBC). Coming up next you can catch Romaine reprising his role once again in the third season of the show which premiered on September 16th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ET/9:30PM NT on CBC. Other releases include his role as Winston Sams in the audience favourite HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES mystery movie series CROSSWORD MYSTERIES: PROPOSING MURDER and CROSSWORD MYSTERIES: ABRACADAVER set to premiere this October 2019 on the HALLMARK CHANNEL.
As an actor, Romaine is committed to telling true-to-life stories that not only entertain, but also provoke frank conversations about the human condition and the state of our society. He believes in the positive transformative power of his craft - for himself as an actor and for the viewers as participants in the dialogue.
Outside of acting, Romaine enjoys cooking, travelling, motorcycling and watching game shows.
