Frozen embryo transfers Dec 11, 2022
    Show notes

In this week’s episode, Dr. Natalie Crawford offers an overview of the frozen embryo transfer. She discusses different protocols, why the timing is what it is, and what you should know if you’re preparing to undergo IVF and an embryo transfer. She explains that, no, your embryos won’t get freezer burn, and that you should keep them as long as you possibly can.

For the Fertility in the News segment, Dr. Crawford addresses a story published by CNN and others, highlighting parents who welcomed twins from embryos frozen 30 years ago. And while the headline is lovely, Natalie addresses the subject's use of the word “adoption” in place of donation, and explains how the company used in this case is actually a discriminatory successful financial organization.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. She addresses: How long after a D&C would you recommend trying again? Can fallopian tubes be unblocked with surgery? Thoughts on breastfeeding during a frozen transfer? And more!

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. Do you recommend ICSI with a normal sperm count? How long after you have an IVF baby should you wait before trying to transfer a frozen embryo? Is it okay to try to get pregnant naturally while continuing IVF?

Improving your egg quality Nov 27, 2022
    Show notes

Dr. Natalie Crawford discusses egg quality improvement, including what it is, what you should know, and what you should do. There’s a lot we can do about fertility; however, there are no guarantees. But there are some interventions you can take now to improve the genetic normalcy of your eggs.

In this week’s Fertility in the News, Natalie discusses the leaked audio clip of Stephen Billy, vice president of state affairs for the Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America Foundation. In this clip, Billy discusses the foundation’s current focus—a shift from abortion to limiting IVF and contraception—a topic they don’t want to announce publicly yet. These laws have huge consequences, and our fight is not over.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. Is a fetal echo always necessary? How important is sperm morphology? Does low egg count mean low quality?

Don't forget to ask your questions on Instagram for next week’s For Fertility’s Sake segment when you see the question box on Natalie’s page @nataliecrawfordmd. You can also ask a question by calling in and leaving a voicemail. Call 657–229–3672 and ask your fertility question today!

    Fertility preservation Nov 20, 2022
    Show notes

Dr. Natalie Crawford discusses fertility preservation, including egg vs. embryo freezing, lifestyle interventions, and what to avoid. Often people think of fertility preservation as an insurance policy, but it’s more like an investment for your future. When you know your options, you’re better prepared to plan your family goals at a time that makes sense for you.

In this week’s Fertility in the News, Natalie discusses Jennifer Aniston’s recent interview with Allure about her IVF and fertility struggles.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. What advice would you give to a residency applicant struggling with fertility? With the Menopur shortage, what other protocols would you suggest? What are your thoughts on transferring a low mosaic embryo?

Don't forget to ask your questions on Instagram for next week’s For Fertility’s Sake segment when you see the question box on Natalie’s page @nataliecrawfordmd. You can also ask a question by calling in and leaving a voicemail. Call 657–229–3672 and ask your fertility question today!

    Show notes

Dr. Natalie Crawford chats about vitamin D and its relation to fertility, including why it matters, when you should get your levels checked, and how much you should supplement. There’s a lot we don’t know about vitamin D and its effect on fertility; but, studies show us that a deficiency in vitamin D can be associated with miscarriage and recurrent miscarriage.

In this week’s Fertility in the News, Natalie also discusses an article in Runner’s World about how The Center for Environmental Health found that sports bras sold by many major athletic brands contained BPAs well over the safe limit.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. Is a laparoscopy recommended after unsuccessful fertility treatments? Should you test progesterone after a frozen embryo transfer? What should I do next after two IUIs and unexplained infertility?

Adenomyosis and fertility Nov 06, 2022
    Show notes

Dr. Natalie Crawford discusses adenomyosis including, what it is, how it differs from endometriosis, why it occurs, and what having adenomyosis means for fertility. Adenomyosis changes the normal function and structure of the uterus; but, there is little research and evidence to guide us on treatments, so your period often acts as your sounding guide.

In this week’s Fertility in the News, Natalie discusses an article in Medical News Today that analyzes results from a Scandanavian study that indicates alcohol has a negative effect on fertility treatments while caffeine appears to be safe.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. What are some tips for handling the side effects of letrozole? How many embryos are recommended to conceive two children? Is Lupus anticoagulants treatable?

Dr. Natalie Crawford chats reproductive rights with civil rights advocate and Attorney General of Texas candidate Rochelle Garza. They discuss bodily autonomy, why the Attorney General’s role is crucial for reproductive health, and why winning this race will be a game changer for protecting civil rights. All your civil rights are on the line in this election, so make sure you have a plan and go out and vote.

In this week’s Fertility in the News, Natalie discusses reproductive rights, including IVF and how politicians who outwardly oppose IVF are willing to have restrictions. If we allow restrictions, IVF will be harder to access, less successful, and more expensive.

Finally, Natalie answers your social media questions during her segment FFS—For Fertility’s Sake. What can short periods mean in your 20s? Is PGT testing worth the risk? Does being underweight affect your fertility? When do you stop trying?
