Today we sat down with Indianapolis based illustrator, Jingo De La Rosa. He is an incredibly gifted artist and lends his talent to the ArtSpeak team! We chatted with him about his work ethic and how he came to be a full time artists. We even ventured into finding out his biggest pet peeve about artists. Enjoy!
More about Jingo:
I’m a commercial illustrator, teaching artist, and reluctant cat lover. I was born and raised in the beautiful islands of the Philippines and now call the lovely city of Indianapolis, IN my home. Like many of my peers, I’ve been drawing since I was knee-high and haven’t stopped since. I’ve been illustrating professionally since 2011, having been an in-house artist for a major publishing company for over two years. In 2013, I decided to broaden my horizons and go the freelance route! I also host DRAWN, a bimonthly sketch night & live performance event on the near east side of Indianapolis. When I’m not making art, you’ll normally find me running along Indy’s Cultural Trail, enjoying a book and beverage at a local coffee shop (my personal favorites: Rabble Coffee, Neidhammer, and Provider), or cheering on my beloved Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse! You can also visit my studio at The Harrison Center during our open studio nights, on select First Fridays of the month.
