In this episode, Kevin talks with Rachel. Not only is she an emergency nurse she is also a certified SANE nurse for adults and pediatrics. She works with health care systems and law enforcement agencies worldwide combating to Human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. She has taken the stand in courtrooms as an expert witness for sexual assault, human trafficking and strangulation. specializes in human trafficking research and rescue and finding missing children. Rachel consults with governmental and non-governmental agencies to formulate the best plan of action to fight sex trafficking on both the demand and the supply side. Rachel trains officers on insider investigation tips and trains healthcare professionals on the identification of trafficking victims using verbal and non-verbal cues. She also trains parents and students on social media trends and how to keep kids safe in the digital age.

In this episode, Kevin has yet another conversation with Dr. Lisa Wolf. This time they discuss a recent study and manuscript called "Traumatic Stress in Emergency nurses: Does your work environment feel like a warzone?" In this study nurses reported high levels of secondary trauma stress and described in detail how traumatic stress manifested in their lives. Theses nurses described chronic, cumulative trauma that affected both their ability to provide nursing and even their ability to connect at home with friends and family. This episode is going to blow your mind. This is the most important AOEN podcast to date.
