    Today's episode of The Annex discusses Internet mob justice in the face of unsolved crimes. We ask what happens when the Internet tries to solve an urgent crime through collaborations on social media and Internet forums.

    Our guest is Penn Pantumsinchai from the University of Hawaii. Penn published "Armchair detectives and the social construction of falsehoods: an actor–network approach" in Information, Communication, and Society. She also co-hosts a sociology podcast called The Social Breakdown, which we covered earlier this year.

    Dutch Sociology (Kuipers, Jaspers, Ivanova & Boy) Dec 04, 2019

    Today, The Annex explores the present state of sociology in the Netherlands, and the major issue of concern facing Dutch sociologists. This episode features special guest hosts Katya Ivanova and John Boy, and features guests Giselinde Kuipers and Eva Jaspers.

    Giselinde Kuipers is research professor at the Catholic University Leuven. She is the author of Good Humor, Bad Taste: A Sociology of the Joke and is currently writing a book about beauty as taste and duty.

    Eva Jaspers is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Utrecht

    Katya Ivanova is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Tillburg University. Her current work focuses on the strength of intergenerational ties and individual well-being in stepfamilies, with a particular focus on the stepmother role. Twitter: @katyaoivanova

    John Boy is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Leiden University, and affiliate with Leiden's Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.     The Bosnian War (Adis Maksic) Nov 27, 2019

    For our Thanksgiving episode, we have a special treat: two outstanding scholars of ethnic politics and genocide discuss the Bosnian War.

    Adis Maksic is an Assistant Professor at International Burch University in Sarajevo. He published Ethnic Mobilization, Violence, and the Politics of Affect: The Serb Democratic Party and the Bosnian War (Palgrave). Not only is Adis an expert on the Bosnian War, but he experienced these events firsthand as a youth in Sarajevo.

    Aliza Luft is an Assistant Professor at UCLA. She was featured in previous episodes of The Annex, and published “Toward a Dynamic Theory of Action at the Micro-Level of Genocide: Killing, Desistance, and Saving in 1994 Rwanda” in Sociological Theory.
