    Angels Among Us

Angels Among Us is a podcast sharing real stories of faith, miracles, angelic encounters, and ordinary people who show up when they’re needed most.

We’re Brent and Mikaela, a husband-and-wife team whose journey through infertility and adoption helped inspire these conversations. Our guests share experiences of divine intervention, grief, healing, survival, and finding hope when life doesn’t go as planned.

Some stories involve angels we can’t see. Others remind us how God works through the people around us. Whatever your background or where you are in your faith, you’re welcome here.

Listen for a reminder that you are loved, that you’re not alone, and that you can be an angel for someone else.

Go look for those angels. 🤍

    S2 Ep80: Angels on the Water -- Ryan & Heather West -- Part 2 Oct 11, 2026
    Show notes

The Fish Lake rescue story continues as Ryan and Heather West share how strangers helped bring their family to safety—and the miracles they believe surrounded them.

This is Part 2 of their conversation with Brent and Mikaela. If you haven’t heard Part 1, start there. We return to the moment Ryan pleads for someone to rescue Heather after their boat sank with all five of their boys aboard.

Ryan and Heather recount their emotional reunion, the church youth group that came to their aid, and the details they learned weeks later about what brought those rescuers to that road. They also share a deeply personal blessing and their belief that angels were with them on the water.

Only a few months removed from the accident, they speak openly about fear, gratitude, faith in Jesus Christ, and trusting God when life doesn’t end the way we hope or pray it will.

If their story brought you to Angels Among Us, we’re so glad you’re here. Follow the show for more real stories of faith, hope, miracles, and the love of your Father in Heaven.

He knows you individually. He loves you perfectly. You are never alone in your hard.

Content note: Includes discussion of near-drowning involving children, the emotional aftermath of a life-threatening accident, and grief. All seven family members survived.

Have you encountered angels? If you or someone you know has a story that needs to be shared, we’d love to hear from you.

S2 Ep79: SSW The Angel Two Doors Down -- Kim Frentzen Oct 07, 2026
    Show notes

An open garage door. A thoughtful neighbor. A phone call that changed our family forever.

This Short Story Wednesday, we’re celebrating three years since Reese and Teagon’s adoptions became official on the very same day—October 6, 2023.

We’re sharing the recording of our actual adoption hearing and inviting you into one of the most meaningful days of our lives. After years of infertility, the uncertainty of foster care, and so many miracles along the way, it’s a moment we’ll always treasure.

Then Mikaela sits down with Kim, our neighbor two doors down and one of the angels in our family’s story. You’ve heard us tell how Teagon came into our lives. Now you’ll hear Kim’s side—how a text about an open garage led to a conversation the next day, and why choosing to make one phone call mattered so much.

There’s laughter, a little family chaos, and so much gratitude in this episode. We hope it reminds you that even the smallest act of kindness can mean more than you’ll ever know.

If you’re praying, waiting, or struggling to understand your own story, we hope you leave feeling a little more loved and a little less alone.

Go look for those angels. 🤍

    S2 Ep78: Angels on the Water -- Ryan & Heather West -- Part 1 Oct 04, 2026
    Show notes

A fishing trip at a place their family had loved for generations became a fight for survival when Ryan and Heather West’s boat sank with all five of their boys aboard.

In the freezing water of Fish Lake, their nine-year-old prayed. Their oldest stayed beside his mom and youngest brother. And strangers were making their way toward the very stretch of road where the family would need help.

All seven survived. Only afterward did Ryan and Heather begin to learn the other side of their rescue.

Brent and Mikaela join them for a heartfelt conversation about prayer, a mother’s determination, the people who stepped in, and the angels they believe helped bring their family home. They also reflect on grief, gratitude, and trusting God when a story doesn’t end the way we hoped.

Content note: Includes pregnancy loss, near-drowning involving children, and discussion of grief.

Go look for those angels. 🤍

A birthday cake. Taco leftovers. An extra pan of lasagna. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean more than we could ever know.

This Short Story Wednesday, Brent and Mikaela revisit Adam Trask’s story of delivering cake ingredients to a man who had been praying for a way to celebrate his wife’s birthday. They also share listeners’ experiences of following a prompting—and showing up with exactly what someone needed.

Together, they reflect on an honest question: With so much suffering in the world, does God still care about our individual needs? A conversation about listening to those quiet nudges, caring for each other, and remembering that you are loved.

S2 Ep73: He Felt Abandoned by God Then He Learned to Listen -- Adam Trask Sep 20, 2026
    Show notes

How do you learn to trust God when you’ve spent so much of your life feeling abandoned?

Adam Trask grew up with homelessness, abuse, and addiction in his family. This week, he joins Brent and Mikaela to share how he began recognizing Christ’s presence in his life... and how that changed the way he cares for others.

From birthday-cake ingredients delivered at just the right time to a prompting that helped put his newborn son near lifesaving medical care, Adam’s stories are heartfelt, sometimes hilarious, and full of reasons to show up.

We also talk about marriage, listening without trying to fix everything, and learning that you don’t have to serve perfectly to help someone feel loved.

S2 Ep71: SSW Will He Know Me? Sep 16, 2026
    Show notes

    Will He Know Me?

This week on Short Story Wednesday, Mikaela reads a talk she recently gave at church about what it really means to know Jesus Christ and make Him a part of our homes and our everyday lives.

She shares honestly about infertility, unanswered prayers, imperfect homes, and why following Christ doesn’t mean life will always go the way we hoped. Sometimes the miracle isn’t God removing the trial—sometimes it’s who we become as we walk through it with Him.

No matter how far we’ve wandered, because of Jesus Christ, there is always a road home. 🤍

Go look for those angels. 🤍
