    Angels Among Us

Real stories. Real people. Real reminders that you are never alone.

Welcome to Angels Among Us, where we sit down with ordinary people who have lived through extraordinary things.

These are stories of faith, miracles, heartbreak, hope, divine timing, and the people who show up exactly when they’re needed most. Sometimes the angels in our stories are unseen. Sometimes they’re unmistakable. And sometimes they’re simply the people God places in our path.

Our hope is that as you hear these stories, you’ll recognize the angels in your own life, feel a little less alone in whatever you’re facing, and maybe even realize that you can be an angel for someone else.

We’re Brent and Mikaela, and we’re so glad you’re here.

Go look for those angels. 🤍

    S2 Ep14: Short Story Wednesday -- Final Episode Feb 25, 2026
    Show notes

This week on Short Story Wednesday, it’s just Brent and Mikaela

In this behind-the-scenes conversation, we share something that happened during and after Sarah’s episode that we didn’t record — and it gave us chills.

While Sarah was sharing the heartbreaking story of losing her daughter Whitney, Mikaela experienced something she couldn’t ignore… a strong nudge, a message she felt needed to be delivered. What happened next left all of us in tears and reminded us that sometimes reassurance comes through other people.

    We also talk about:
    • Learning to trust spiritual nudges
    • Why timing is never random
    • How God is in the details
    • And why it’s important to follow through when you feel prompted

Plus, we tease this Sunday’s episode — a story so powerful we had to split it into two parts — and Brent makes a bold promise about a certain embarrassing supernatural story that will be told… if we hit 5,000 Instagram followers.

This episode is real, unscripted, and full of laughter, interruptions, and meaningful moments.

Go look for the angels in your life this week — and don’t be afraid to be one for someone else.

What if losing someone you love didn’t mean losing your connection to them?

In this deeply moving episode of Angels Among Us, Sarah shares the heartbreaking story of losing her daughter Whitney at 34 weeks — and the unexpected signs that followed.

From a strawberry-scented unicorn eraser to a giant “W” carved naturally into a fallen log, Sarah began noticing moments that felt too intentional to ignore. What started as overwhelming grief slowly transformed into something else: connection. Comfort. Hope.

Sarah opens up about the pain of carrying a child she would never bring home, the guilt and questions that followed, and the way small, sacred moments began pulling her out of the darkest place of her life.

    We talk about:
    • Grief that feels impossible
    • The bond between mother and child
    • Signs from beyond
    • Learning to trust what you feel
    • And how love doesn’t end — it transforms

    S2 Ep12: Short Story Wednesday -- Anniversary Feb 18, 2026
    Show notes

This week on Short Story Wednesday, Brent and Mikaela are celebrating 15 years of marriage with a fun (and slightly dangerous 😅) anniversary Q&A.

From their first impressions of each other (yes… they went there), to early teenage stupidity, pet peeves, comfort foods, infertility, faith, and the moments they’ve seen God’s hand in their marriage — this episode is equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and deeply personal.

They open up about the trials that shaped them, the growth that strengthened them, and the spiritual journey that’s drawn them closer to each other — and to God.

If you’ve ever wondered who the hosts of Angels Among Us really are behind the mic, this episode lets you into their love story — the funny, the messy, and the sacred.

Because at the end of the day, one thing remains true: God places angels in our lives — sometimes in the form of a spouse.

    S2 Ep8: Carrying Grief, Choosing Love -- Vicki Connell Feb 01, 2026
    Show notes

In this deeply moving episode of Angels Among Us, Brent and Mikaela sit down with Vicki to talk about grief, faith, and the long journey of learning how to live after the unthinkable.

After the loss of her son, Vicki opens up about the raw reality of grief — the questions without answers, the pain that never fully disappears, and the struggle to trust God when healing doesn’t look the way we hoped it would. She shares what it means to carry grief while still choosing love, how purpose can slowly emerge from devastation, and why saying her son’s name continues to matter.

Vicki also reflects on the importance of presence over platitudes, the power of remembering those we’ve lost, and the signs of peace that remind her that love doesn’t end with death. Her story is honest, vulnerable, and filled with quiet strength for anyone walking through loss or supporting someone who is.

This episode is a reminder that grief is not something to “get over,” but something we learn to carry — and that even in our deepest pain, we are never alone.

    S2 Ep7: Short Story Wednesday -- A Hole-in-One From Heaven -- Jesse DeBock Jan 28, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Short Story Wednesday, Brent is joined by one of his closest friends, Jesse “DeBo” DeBock, who shares a deeply personal story about faith, timing, and a moment of unexpected joy during a difficult season of life.

While playing a solo round of golf on a cold, rainy birthday week in Oklahoma, Jesse decided to press forward — even when everything told him to stay home. What happened next was a once-in-a-lifetime hole-in-one… with Brent on the phone as a witness.

More than a great golf story, this moment became a powerful reminder of God’s personal love, perfect timing, and the small ways He reminds us that we are seen — especially when we’re in the middle of our hardest trials.

Sometimes miracles don’t come as thunder and lightning — sometimes they come 133 yards away.
