    WHO launches new program to accelerate COVID-19 vaccines Apr 25, 2020

    The World Health Organization is launching a new program to accelerate the development of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics. Michael Osterholm and Dr. Sanjay Gupta join Anderson Cooper to discuss the logistics of getting a working vaccine and when or if people should expect one. Plus, Captain Brett Crozier was fired after warning of a coronavirus outbreak that was spreading throughout the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt. Now the Navy is recommending that Captain Crozier be reinstated as the ship's commander.     Las Vegas mayor wants to re-open casinos, theater and restaurants but doesn't give any safety guidelines Apr 23, 2020

    Georgia Governor Brian Kemp faces resistance from mayors and business owners over move to re-open state Apr 22, 2020

    Georgia Republican Governor is pushing to reopen a range of businesses in the state, including hair and nail salons, gyms, and restaurants despite White House guidelines that suggest waiting for a 14-day downward trajectory of COVID-19 cases. Jamie Booth, an Atlanta hair salon owner, joins AC360 to explain why she will remain closed until at least mid-May to keep both herself and her clients safe. Plus, after President Trump tweeted "Liberate Michigan," the state's Democratic Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, responded in an op-ed saying "we need to get this right" when it comes to re-opening any state.     Congressional leaders and the White House negotiate another coronavirus relief funding package Apr 21, 2020

    Key congressional leaders and the Trump administration are trying to strike a deal on a nearly $500 billion package that would replenish funding for small businesses and provide additional money for hospitals and coronavirus testing. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joins AC360 to give an update on negotiations and responds to Trump's comments calling her "nasty." One of the sticking points to negotiations is how to run an effective national testing strategy. Harvard professor Danielle Allen explains why she's advocating for a massive increase in testing-5 million a day by early June and then 20 million a day by late July-to fully remobilize the economy.     Gov. Inslee: Trump is encouraging "illegal and dangerous acts" Apr 18, 2020

    President Trump is calling for some states such as Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia to "liberate" just a day after saying governors will "call your own shots" when deciding to re-open their state. Democratic Governor Jay Inslee from Washington says these comments encourage "illegal and dangerous acts."     More than 500,000 coronavirus cases in the U.S. as deaths top 18,000 Apr 11, 2020

    There are more than 500,000 coronavirus cases in the U.S. with California accounting for more than 21,000 of those cases. That's compared to nearly 175,000 cases in New York. California Governor Gavin Newsom tells Anderson Cooper the reason the numbers in California are relatively lower than New York's is because the 40 million people in his state have practiced social distancing and stayed at home but now is not the time to back down.
