What Do We Really Know About the Corona Virus? Feb 18, 2020
    Show notes

The coronavirus has spread quickly since it was first discovered in China a few weeks ago. But what has spread just as quickly is the rampant misinformation surrounding the illness. Between plague memes and quarantine border shutdowns, people are getting a little anxious about all of the facts (or pseudofacts) going around about this deadly illness. So how much do we actually know about the coronavirus? We know that the coronavirus is a fast-spreading virus similar to SARS and common influenza that was first identified in China and has since spread to several other countries. This respiratory virus is spread through person-to-person contact, primarily via respiratory excretions (coughing and sneezing) and, similar to influenza, has the potential for deadly complications in children, the elderly, and immune-suppressed populations. It’s easy to be more afraid of coronavirus than is warranted if you are only catching the buzzwords surrounding it along with accompanying paranoia and speculation. The truth is a lot less exciting. Unless you’re living in the Chinese quarantine zones, you’re currently a lot more likely to be killed by the common flu than you are by the coronavirus, but long-term predictions for the epidemic aren’t good. Listen to this episode of America's Healthcare Challenge to find out more about this new illness and what it could mean for your health and safety. 🔥Trends, Explaining Artificial Intelligence, Why Healthcare is Not a Free Market. Jan 23, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode we look at artificial intelligence in healthcare and whether or not the healthcare industry is truly a free market. Advancements in technology and innovation have created a lot to excite us in healthcare. Critics would say that it has also created new costs and inefficiencies in the healthcare system. Technology grows rapidly and it almost doubles in how fast, for example, your computer can go every two years. This is according to Moore’s law. The healthcare industry is one of the slowest to adopt new technologies, however, this has changed since the passage of federal healthcare laws.
